About 1/3 of the mummies here have popped.. I am still waiting for mine princess... Hopefully she will not come out within the next 2 weeks if not i will have to face the labour alone as hb is very busy with work. =(. Luckily my gynae say that she will most likely come out at the 40th weeks.

I am starting to get swollen feet now.. Can hardly see my ankles.

think i need to surrender white flag. last night i was so frustrated thinking of the things CL shld n shldn;t do etc n telling hubby n plus i'm hot n smelly ............guess it all adds up till i have the blues. i was sitting in my baby;s room in a daze tearing away. in the fit of anger, i kept all the pampers in the room leaving only 2 for CL to use to force her to use cloth nappies. i was searching thru the things in baby;'s room n was really frust n crying away. think baby sensed it and started crying. guess i freak my mil n Cl out. hubby tried to calm me down as i wanted to give him the baby n leave.
surprisingly the more stress i am, the more i leak BM. i know god is trying to encourage me. this morn when i wake up, i was jus thinking...........ignorance is really bliss. if not for all the knowledge i have received frm the antenatal class n reading up, i think i am perfectly fine with what the CL is doing. she did confinement for my nephew n he turn out very healthy. on the otherhand, my friend with all the knowledge, ended up with a sickly child. guess i have to strike a balance n just trust that god is taking care of my girl n jus relax n watch tv n rest. today CL used cloth nappies n ran out of them by 11am. my girl has been crying frm the discomfort as cloth nappies have to change very often n it really disrupt her sleep n she is very cranky n unsettled as a result. i decided to just let CL use pampers. at least baby gets more rest n she is happier.
i realized knowledge is one thing, real life is another.............

so i hang up my white flag n decided to "nua" already. friends n relatives r coming to visit me. hopefully it;ll cheer me up

That is my worry too - what we learn from the classes are not in line with wat MIL and CL are doing.. I also bot cloth nappies for the CL and I wonder will she use when baby comes in Sept.. I am also paranoid if the CL will not have the patience for me to latch my baby on for BM.. she told me before over the phone when I first engage her, she said if really have no BM, why tired myself out. just use FM.. but I told her I would wan to BF. she said she would let me latch but really no BM then dun let the mommy and the baby suffer.. i am keeping my finger crossed for Sept, really..

perhaps, like wat you said - ignorance is bliss.. or rather we should open and close one eye to make our life easier and baby to be happier..
 
Little twin stars: Just relax n leave the job to the experienced confinment nanny.. As long the confinement nanny is clean n hygenic in handling the bb, its fine.. She afterall have handled many bbs before.

Just enjoy ur confinement la..dont everything stick to the 'rules' n make urself unhappy. It is not that cannot bath, it is important to keep urself clean n hygenic if not bb close to u also uncomfortable. If wash hair - must blow dry hor. Try not to touch cold water too. SG weather is not like china, their harsh winter doesnt allow them to bath daily if not they will suffer pain in the bones later..

Haiz! I totally get what you mean!!! My MIL, when cleaning my bb will use the same cotton ball to clean to-and-fro both eyes, mouth, face..and go back to the eyes. Everytime I see, want to scream cos' of what we learn at antenatal classes. Also when we told her not to use bb powder, she said we were being silly. Then when bathing bb, she say no need to clean so thorough unlike what we learn at classes to clean all the creases. So really, I think life would have been much easier without learning all that we learnt! I'm just trying to strike a balance and not get too paranoid over things.

I have raised one white flag. BB now always don't want to latch on, so finally I just express out the milk and use bottle feed! First few days I was very adamant abt not using bottles, use only syringe anc cup..but see bb cry until so cham, I give up liao! And now that he got teats liao, he don't want mummy's nips!

i also started bottle feeding my bb on her 4th day...cuz she sleeps very quickly...i think u shouldn't feel bad or upset..cuz at least u know ur bb is drinking BM still...i also use this to console myself..

now bb is pee-ing poo-ing fine..so i know she is drinking well...just that i need to keep up with her intake and pump very diligently every 2 hours...i hope my milk supply will increase faster..

yup, u will have to prepare yrself for this issue. that wat my CL tell me too. but mil feels that since i have BM, y not let me latch, so she is helping me as well cos my sil tried BF for 1mth n no milk. so she understands that it is precious. yet i also need to rest n close n eye. the more i see. the more i will pick on.

really, as long as bb eats well, no prob, ignorance is bliss.
the trick i learn is: when baby cries. tell yr CL to let u latch first. not enough then top up FM. at least baby gets the best milk first

give u an example: she uses wet wipes to wipe her each time she pees n poo. first front to back, than later back to front. bb is a girl lei, i worry about urinal tract infection. then we were taught to only use wet wipes to wipe when outside, at home we shld use cotton ball n cotton pad n water to wipe the area clean........

all these, i really have to close an eye n stay happy lor

Haiya bb reject me again. So do you still let your bb latch on? I only try to latch on when hb gets home cos' mil will keep saying bb dunno how to suck and all that and keep watching me so I also don't dare to take my own sweet time. I scared if don't let bb latch on, milk supply will drop?

PD charges for your newborn baby when in hospital - Hi just to ask about the pd charges when in hospital, my gynae arrange a pd and understand that he will be charging $180 per day visit. Anyone has those pd which charges just $200 for 3 days' visit excluding those hearing tests...

Hmm, i think it's okie to use wet wipes at hm for more convenience but also cost a little more.. Imptly, must use it hygienically too.

i guess it's expected for conflicts to arise, cos all of us haf different thinking and ways of doing tings.
Even u &amp; i haf different views on pacifier and diapers ler, rite? So dun be too upset wif ur CL ok?
Some tings, yes, jus haf to close 1 eye, but u can set urself some limits.
For me, if it endangers bb (e.g. hygiene in handling milk bottles &amp; the tings they let bb eat, like the jing feng shan i keep harping on), then hb &amp; i are V firm, both mil &amp; CL hafto listen to us.. other than dat, like whether to give bb FM anot, i'm quite open abt it, as long as bb is satisfied loh.

Altho i muz say dat it is v common for us to get upset and cry over lil' unhappiness during confinement, it is still no good lah..so cheer up girl! I'm sure ur hb is v supportive of u yah? and u can always vent ur frustration here, i'm sure some of us here share the same woes as u, and we can find comfort in each other!

i need advise from mummies.

how to tell the difference between discharge, urine leak and water bag leaking? i have more discharge now, its watery and sometimes milky white. it could happens like once or twice a day that i feel so wet that i will think its water bag leak, so i would wait further hoping to get more leak or wet but it stop in the end. i had these for 2 days liao, same thing happen today. should i check myself in to hospital to check? baby movement is still very active.

Wiping bb girl's private part in the wrong direction cannot close 1 eye lah...in case bb kenna infection.
Dat one u hafto tell ur CL, then remember to suan her abit..this is general knowledge dat she shld know..cos even as adults, we are not supposed to wipe in the salah direction.

Think you are overwrought with so many things and perhaps you want everything to be perfect according to your wishes. And when that doesn't happen, you feel upset.
It's perfectly normal, so you can vent your frustrations here.
Anyway, you also pointed out to yourself, some things got to give. When the cloth diapers run out, then bo bian you have to use pampers.

As what reirei said, there will be differences in opinions and thinking, even between us mummies.

Personally, I feel should wipe baby girls from front to back, never the other way round. This is to prevent urinal infection, and this was also taught in my antenatal class. I also specifically told my mum that, if she wanted to help bathe my baby.

Other things, well I guess you have to go according to situation. Of course what we learnt in antenatal class is the theoretically "ideal" thing to do, but may not be practical in real life. Just like different preggie ladies have different preggie symptoms, different babies will have different temperaments.

It's a learning curve, so look forward to each day and cheer up!

My mum was asking me how long I intend to breastfeed, I wanted to tell her at least 6mths for direct latch on, but she like seems so disapproving. Then i said 2 mths, then the rest of the time I need to express and let maid feed thru bottle. I also realised no choice, since my work requires me to run around, I dun hv the luxury of expressing at any convenient place. Sigh...

Maybe you want to monitor more. Maybe is the mucuous plug coming out bit by bit, like Mulberry's case? I also read somewhere, the mucuous plug can come out bit by bit. Me on the contrary, don't have so much discharge now. Weird..
I think the surest sign of labour is water bag burst. That one confirm must go hospital liao.
But my lower tummy still feeling discomfort at the added weight of baby there. V jia lat.... I tell baby aiya... I cannot take it already, just come out.. else I don't know how long I can take on the additional weight.

i always thought mucous plug is red in colour. i have been monitoring, just worried that i 'gong gong' and can't tell if its really water bag leak. then at the same time, logically speaking, if water bag leak, it won't stop right. it should leak non-stop mah. i can't tahan this waiting game liao

Using diaper or cloth nakins, doesnt really bother me. What irks me most is bad hygenic so if my confinement lady is like that, i sure lecture her already... U must let her know what u cannot accept etc. Like that you will be happy n enjoy ur confinement ya?

celynlee: mucous plug can be pinkish/browish discharge too.. If waterbag broke, got a pop sound one. haha. I also having alot of discharge these days.. tummy very hard liao n backache too. Last time my friend cannot tahan, she c-sec on the 37th weeks, but after that she told me, give birth liao then know her bb's power.. give her jialat jialat.. hahahaha..

Hello all,

Visited the dr today and was strapped to ctg. Dr says placenta calcified and also water is decreasing. She would check me again on wednesday and told me to stop orange colored capsules from wed on. most likely labour would be 1 to 3 days after that and i would complete 37 weeks!!!

yah, my edd is next sun. i have been taking it very easily especially gynae say i will be over due. its only these 2 days that i start to panic once i experience the discharge. can't tell hubby about it cos he will sent me straight to delivery suite without confirming that i'm in labour or not. he is super gan cheong.

got my pump yesterday. tried and only manage to pump 30ml BOTH breast.. but ok la at least manage to show hubby got something come out. haha. but hor .. very scary lei. The pump like make the nipple so big !!! hubby see already he say better dont use the pump. hahah.

Today brought baby to PD for 1st checkup and for blood test for jaundice. She passed. Only 118. PD say her jaundice will go up next few days but will not go until the stage to need phototheraphy. Said i can sunbathe her in the morning if I want, but to him he thinks no need. Then he said baby will start to "shed some skin" in the next few weeks so can start applying baby lotion. Other than that, all is good. Told me go back 1.5 mths later for jab. Wah .. I waited like 1hour to see him and only see him for 5 mins. But hubby quite like the PD despite the wait, so ok la. Baby was very good girl, slept right thru from the car ride till reach home.

Getting abit itchy too. Monday will go back to my gynae to review. but the tummy area like very numb feeling

Dun know if u believe la but pple tell me that drink too much water can cause water retention and the tummy wun go down anymore ... sounds damn scary.

FOr my #1, I only drink hot Milo in hospital and at home, only red dates water. Plain water, vv seldom. Heng, my tummy manage to go down -- err, after few cups of ginger tea which I drank secretly. My tummy was also 5 months pregnant after I delivered and frens who visited asked me ... u delivered already? i so sad leh. And i would point to the baby in the baby cot and say, "My baby's there" ... and said "This is my tummy".

Also, if baby rejects your breast now, maybe you can use the nipple shield which is same brand as the bottle to feed him. A bit troublesome but maybe if he has nipple confusion, then this might help?

Cos for my #1, I used nipple shield and also bottle feed and it was rather ok when he switches from my breast to the bottle. But troublesome la. Later when he is a bit bigger, i stopped using the nipple shield and he can latch better. Not sure what's the official recommended method for this ;)

Hope this helps. I'd prob do the same thing if he cannot latch on properly.

I am very upset now cos' yesterday I say DD less than SS. Today bb drinking back in revenge, every 1.5hrs demand feeding and refuse to latch on, so I don't even have time to pump properly!!! Have just secretly warmed up some FM and feel so sad that I have to feed him FM. Hope he doesn't wake up until I've expressed more milk.

don;t worry about the latching part, try to latch when bb is really hungry, after that then bottle feed if not bb sure dont want our nips after bottle. but another way of seeing it is.....yr baby won't attack yr breast in public in the future :p cheer up. at least u did yr best by expressing it to the bottle. when u bottle feed bb with BM, bond with him

ya lor, hubby also told me many things taught in the class may not be practical es when baby is crying away n things need to be done fast. when i monitor CL, she did wipe frm front to back liao, so now really close an eye n relax better. hubby went to install smart tv for me to watch today

it;s true lei, my girl also keep crying after every pee.....then when we BF, it;s even worst cos bb will pee n poo more. so very troublesome. me monitoring. now CL use both jus to satisfy me but bb really didn;t get much sleep. in the end, she was so tired she slept frm 1 to 5:30pm today cos she was crying for me the whole morning

btw, mommies who have popped...have u started your jamu massage yet? i'm quite amazed at my recovery. my tummy has slimmed down to almost its original size b4 i got preggie, except that my belly button is trying to sink in now and there's still a bit of flab. hopefully with jamu my tummy will be firm again. i also lost 9kg so far. amazed at my own progress. i think it must be the breast milk. have been pumping furiously lately coz' bb refuse to latch on. and my milk ss also quite gd. today i pumped about 70ml on average. breast milk was leaking all over the bed last night!
