FYI, last time, when I claim in 2007, NTUC still had the 4 days notification clause, unless it is emergency admmission. My claim was very quickly settled - mine was A&E admission. so didn'tgive them the 4 days notification prior to admission. what I did was to give the hospital A&E people my NRIC number, show them my NTUC policy, then call NTUC hotline when I was at A&E to warn them, then when choosing ward, also call NTUC, and when finally admitted to ward, call them. I also called NTUC when I was discharged. All my phone calls were recorded in note form by NTUC's staff so although I didn't keep speaking to the same person, my admission/hospital stay was well documented at their end and I didn't have to repeat myself. Note, however, that A and B1 class patients at govt hosp & private hosp patients need to pay GST out of pocket. The insurer will only cover hospital bill up to limits but not cover GST. GST is payable by the consumer loh. B2 and C class patients dun pay GST cos it is absorbed by Govt.
