burpy: can u get your hubby to talk to your MIL? Perhaps mention about the merlion incident so she will realise that crying may lead to wind. My baby also merlioned her milk out once and I got so panicky I cried. Don't worry k?

Thanks calamari. Hope that it will help. Coz my hubby dun think that bb's merlion is due to her over stimulated cry yesterday. I am speechless. sigh.

burpy_babe: My MIL also say the same thing like yours, she afraid baby too pampered and spoilt if always carry when cry. instead she just stand one side and talk to the baby. I read some where that ver young baby don't really know so it's ok to carry them when they cry as they are adjusting to the new environment. I also feel sad whenever my boy cried until his face turned very red, heart pain...

scubababe: I bought the GD cards from the forum! I placed a WTB in the forum. Of cos plus a bit of bargaining also lah ;) Sometimes, there will be forummers putting up their GD cards to sell at the WTS topic as well.

Luann: btw u should be cleaning your steriliser at least once a fortnight. My CL cleans it every week cos use frequently.

calamari...thanx...will clean later when the things are sterilised...

Blessed, I dont wear the binder when i go out. I've been going out since week 1. For me, i move ard alot at home and go out alot. So by the second week, can wear heels and walk normally already. As per my gynae, to aid the whole healing process, you should move ard move, rather than just to sit or lie down.

burpy_babe, how come 3rd week already, havent remove stitches?
Re: baby crying
For my girl, she has got different type of cries for different needs/wants, eg. poo poo, hungry, cranky, or just want attention. If she wants attention only. I will just leave her there to cry. Just have to make sure that she is safe. I dont want her to be too pampered. If not very difficult to look after her later on when she's awake for more hours when she is older. Yes, it is true that wind will get into the tummy. So it's v impt to massage bb tummy to get rid of wind. You can try using lavender oil. Just rub the oil using ur two fingers in circular motion frm e naval. This helps to get rid of wind and at the same time, lavender has a calming n relaxing effect. Or you can use the traditional ru yi oil. But for this, u need to rub on e palm until hot hot then rub bb's tummy downwards. When done in a correct way, u'll feel bb passing out wind v quickly. Last time my girl used to cry alot before each feed. Realised that it's because she doesnt like the teats. So sometimes she may vomit a little after feeding. We tried to burp her before e feed and it helps. i feel i'm the hard-hearted mummy here. My hubby lovss to just carry her and sit in front of the comp, my MIL will just keep carrying her when she comes over. My mum will say cannot keep carrying her, but each time she sees her, she'll keep carrying her. Headache. I really think she's quite spoilt already. Some afternoons she cannot even lie down on her own ...

Stefy, that brown thingy is limestone. Read somewhere thta it may be poisonous if u dont clean it. Im using pigeon, can detach e steriliser and just use water and clean sponge to rub. Comes off easily. Have to wash daily.

Calamari - ur CL hardwking, i clean mine myself.
My mom also over carry the bb.

Burby - my CL at night wake up make milk & let bb cry very long then after tat she cry very loud...very tough to pacifty her. Don let the incident happen again cos bb cannot cry too long. if don wan pick her up can use pat pat or pacifier coax her first.

My baby girl sleeps a-a-a-a-a-a-a lot!!!! I am getting worried. Cos no matter how CL, hubby, MIL, my mom and I try and wake her up, she still sleeps very soundly. Anyone got same "problem"?

burpy

re: cloth nappy
i use pigeon baby detergent to handwash the soiled nappy after soaking.

re: baby crying
of coz there will be wind if bb cry for too long. but its good sometime to let them cry so as to exercise their lungs. but moderately coz u dont want too much wind to get into the tummy. usually i will let my bb cry for 5 or 10mins before attending to her.

Hi burpy,
Today I overslept and dint express milk for 6h. Gave me a scare! Milk flow quite stable but took a longer time to express out. Ya, u try the middle level and slowly. If milk doesnt come out, massage again and again and then milk ll come out, but down pt is take a long time.

Calamari
Yup, coincidentally its mum's day! quite happy as my church will pray over all the mums! Actaully u no need to worry tt bb sleep a lot cos I just read fr Babycare magazine tt bb need ard 16 - 18 h of zzz at this pt and the more soundly they sleep, the better their brain develop. At first also quite worried tt my bb will get thirsty or hungry because dint drink milk. Btw, I dint feed my bb any plain water since he is on full BM and the LC at Mt A told me no need drink plain water if on full BM. It is true right? Btw, can i have the contact of ur massage lady? Seems that my massage lady dint do a gd job and make my wound pain. Tk God that now there is no more pain liao.

Jamie, Sherin
Guess I later go to my neighbourhd shoppin centre to walk ard if hubby can go with me since today is las day of my confinement and b4 i move in with my MIL for a few wks! So happy!!! think I ll try flat shoes first, slowly transit to low heels and then high heels. I m quite short but my hb quite tall so las time used to ve many pairs of high heels! I dont really dare to take off binder cos scared that my wound may bang into some objects or some1 may knock into me, but i guess its all psychological! My wound heals beautifully too, but somehw still scared!

blessed: Thanks...feel better. Anyway, I just tried to wake baby up again for her feed but she really knocked out. She seems to be always dreaming cos keep smiling in her sleep. Just now she even let out 2 chuckles haha! I also never let my baby drink any water at all as she is on full BM too. BM already consists of a lot of water content so no need water. Btw, will you be nursing when you go out with baby or will you give baby EBM? I very hopeless, am very dependent on breastfeeding pillow. So can only breastfeed with the pillow or lying down. Dunno how to BF outside as can't be lugging my pillow wherever I go or lie down in public right? Hehehe

My massage lady is called Auntie Sadiah. She can be reached at 97724579.

End of next week will be the end of my confinement. I am feeling a bit anxious that I will not be able to look after baby after CL leaves :p Esp bathing! I still suck at bathing my baby!

Thanks to all of you for your advice. think i still need to get used to bb's cries to decipher what cries means what and teach my mil how to handle. i dun want the same incident to happen. this morning i see bb merlion all her milk out.. i very xim tia...

sherin - i just removed my stitches a couple of days ago.... then this weekend can remove the dressng liao. now i still have the dressing on.

thanks jamie... will do it once the CL leaves next week. hehe....

calamari - same here... my confinement also ending end of next week. am very worried how i will cope without the CL around. coz she is very good at coaxing baby... think i m too reliant on her liao. i have not tried bathing bb yet. will start crash course from this weekend. hehe.

Calamari:
Thanks! Coincidentally the massage lady that I use is the same as urs. She is a v nice lady I must say, but mayb its because I started at 3wks
sad.gif
. When I told her pain, she dint force me to continue with the rest of the sessions and even help me purchase a corset to control my waist, but till now still havent wear cos scared will make wound more pain. U did urs massage at which wk? For me,I dont really latch on my bb cos he will always throw tantrums when he is hungry, so I express out my BM every 3h. So I will feed him EBM when go out and if he is in church nursery, I will leave a note to the helpers to feed him EBM.

Re: Baby crying

Now that my CL left, i m alone at home with baby and need to do my own housework plus cook my own meals. So most of the time if she cries for attention i will let her cry. I think most important is to identify what the crying stand for. As long as my gal dun escalate to the screaming type of crying, i know she is not in distress or has a need that is not met i will leave her alone for a while.

Calamari,
My gal dun like to be nursed lying down. How i wish i could nurse her lying down then i cna sleep more at night... You can try practicing nursing her at home without the pillow first, I let her latch on outside. Think its so much more convienent coz no need to bring btl and EBM after warmed up can only stand for 4hrs if not later also cannot use so quite wasteful in my opinion

Re: feeding water
I get quite fustrated sometimes coz ppl like my mil keep asking me to feed baby water. I keep telling them that TBF babies dun have to be fed water. Then they keep telling me feed little bit can... urgh... i can't help thinking, baby's stomach so small, after the water already bloated liao lor how to drink milk?

calamari...u r so lucky, ur bb sleeps a lot, mine at max onli sleep for 45min-1hr in the day each time...then after every feed must coax her very long then she will fall asleep....cant really rest in the day...

i thk these days i latch bb on totally in the day so now at nite when we bottle feed her FM/EBM she drink very little...onli abt 60ml, and will regurgitate out some milk...thk she dun like the btl prefer the breast for comfort...

b4 she sleeps if i dun latch her on, she will refuse to go to sleep....

any1 of you have the same prob???

re feeding water

i feed my ger some water after her bath and if in ask for more milk too freq in btw feed...dun wan to over feed her milk n wait she too full...

re stomach wind

i'll apply ru yi oil on my palm n rub till hot then massage dwnwards on bb's tummy...really helps can hear her fart after that....if not i'll massage bb's tummy in circular motion this also helps...

Stefy,

I have excatly the same prob with you but i latch her on day and night and my gal sleeps lah. She is only given 1-2 btl of EBM daily by daddy. And she dun like the btl teats. I used pigeon teats the last time and have just changed to NUK teats she still dun like, every time see the whole btl of EBM go down the drain so heart pain.

Recently i am trying to pat her to sleep instead of letting her latch on to sleep. SHe really just suck for comfort lor coz she dun swallow the milk and when i detach her the whole side of my top will be wet...

calamari

u r very lucky that your gal sleeps alot. dont worry, bb grow when they r sleeping, esp their brain development.

blessed

i agree, its all psychological. u will feel better when u move ard more. i dont hv any CL & i take care of bb myself after my c-sec while my mum helps to take care of my 19mth ger. of coz the 1st few days after discharge was tough coz healing is much slower compare to my 1st natural birth. but like the saying goes, its never easy being a mum so we just hv to persevere. so u jia you!!
happy.gif

amy....we tried all sorts of methods to coax her to sleep but she just refuses n starts wailing...can really tear down the whole house.. ha ha ha...so my mum say no choice lor give her ur breast n true enuff, she fall asleep in 5mins...aiya...naughty girl...

we also bottle feed her 2-3x a day 2x in the nite n smtimes 1x b4 she sleeps ard 10pm...i using the Nuk Wide neck bottle..she seems to like it at first but nw that i latch her more often she like dun like the teats already....funny hor...at 1st i tot bb prefer teats then breast coz easier to suckle...ha ha ha guess tt's not true for our bb...

My boy used to be a heavy sleeper. First 2 weeks were like clock work - milk, sleep - 3 hours later, milk, sleep -repeat.

Alas! From third week onwards his timing has gone haywire. We're not sure why! Doesn't sleep that well anymore, keeps waking with bursts of crying. Sometimes 3 seconds of crying, then back to sleep by himself. Othertimes, needs prolonged attention before he zzz.

Milk consumption also no longer regular. i suspect he is going through a growth spurt, but he has habit of drinking for 10-15 min then dozing off. i suspect he isn't full enough, thus the poor sleep... yet he's too sleepy to drink for long! it's a vicious cycle..... all i can do is to keep supply up & keep pumping so can give bottle occassionally to make sure he drinks his fill.

Stefy,

I think baby prefer the btl teats at first coz is faster. But after they recongise our smell and gotten used to our breast they will prefer our breast lor. My gal also initially like the NUK teats, drink very fast then scarely next time use the teats again she dun want liao...

Now i also dunno what to do coz if cont like that dunno next time i go back to work how...

Stefy/ Amy - My ger prefer the teat cos i hardly latch her on...now i latch her she will lick a while then don wan to suck
sad.gif
Guess its opposite from yours they prefer wat they are more exposed to.

Calmari- lucky ur bb sleep alot. Mine don wan to sleep in the afternoon, wan pple to carry. Put her down she will cry...jialatz. She been spoilt by my CL & mom. Anyone know how to resolve?

Joelle – my girl also same problem as your son. Would suddenly wake up wailing after slping soundly for a awhile. She has not been slping as well as the first 2 weeks. I am also getting worried how come she become so cranky…

Hey mommies, have found two articles to share with you all on whether to carry baby when they cry.. have been having “disagreement” with hubby over this issue recently…. And was forwarded these two websites by my friend. http://www.naturalchild.org/jan_hunt/babycries.html
http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2006/10/061027184248.htm
hope that it helps. =P

strawberries - after reading this article.. i felt better. at least there are articles now to back me up so that my hubby can read and then tell his mom that we should not leave babies to cry and cry without attending to them at such a tender age. sigh....

Koori, i think that is the issue with hvg CL. Good and bad. Good as in can help us with a lot of work - handling bb and cooking. But bad in terms of the transitional period. After CL is back, bb will take at least a week to adjust days without Auntie. My Jayden took abt 5 days to get used to it. During those days, he will keep crying and crying. It is a passing phase... dont worry.

sometimes my bb cry and cry v loud and non stop...i v scare ..dunno wad to do....as tis sunday is Mother's day, all my aunties , uncle including my parents all coming over to my ah ma hse..... tinkin shld i bring bb back on sat nite to look aft myself....haiz...i no courage....=(..useless mummy here...

blessed: I did my massage at the start of the 3rd week after my caesarean and no pain. I think its individual healing perhaps...

Cath - my bb not sure if having transition, today once put her down she will cry. I now put her on bouncer to sleep.

koori

thx..i keep telling myself that..but dunno my mom n dad fang xin let me bring him hm anot. coz 1st time bring him hm that time, aft 2hrs, i cry n call my mom liao...=(..... my bb now slp on yao lan oso...my hse no yao lan, scare i bring him back, he will bully me.....=/....

koori...chk wif u...did u bring kaylen back to YY Yip after 1 mth? Is it only for the Hep B jab or he will review the health of the bb as well?

if onli for the jab then i wont bring bb back there liow....nw many bb sick i dun wan to bring bb to the clinic too many children there...

my bb drink lesser this week, last week her milk intake is around 800-900ml everyday, this day only ar 600ml.. do any mummies experience this?

wonder should i bring her to see gp? she din poop for 2 days, today is her 3rd day... she cannot

mummies...

my bb has alot of eye shit...issit normal? my mum says its coz i take a lot of bu tt's y bb is heaty...do i need to bring her see GP??

cherish...ur bb drink FM or BM? Maybe its too heaty too tt's y nv poo....mine drink BM most of the time and poo at least 4x a day

mostly on FM, i think i bring her to see doc... 3days seems alot for bb..

eyeshit, my bb oso have... like u say, my bb could be too heaty..

Stefy - i din bring kaylen for the Hep B jab cos i taking 6in1, only need to bring her there during Jun (ie. 2nd mth). You taking 5in1?

Cherish - Must give some water to bb if taking FM cos its heaty, if on BM then no need. Try putting gripe water mix with water let her drink, mine after drinking poo poo liao.

Stefy - u also can give bb some gripe water to lessen her heatiness.

My baby shitted green shit this morning. Is green shit really caused by scare? The old wives tale say that babies will shit green shit after they got scared... so wondering if there is any scientific reason why babies produce green shit?

My ss seems to be going down. the ss this week is similar to the ss last week. there does not seem to be any sign that my ss has increased. worry leh. worried that i might not have enough ss for bb. sigh....
