re:sleeping thru
my bb has probly slept thru 3 times since the day he was born.. usually, he wakes up 2-3 times a night, but last night was esp bad-- every hr, sometimes 2 times an hr!!

walking,
skylar is not walking yet too. lezy, i think u are right.. skylar is pretty tall too, so dun think he will walk soon. In fact, he was late in sitting up too, cos his body is quite long, so he always toppled over.

babies in plane,
actually the white noise helps them to sleep better. i was quite surprised but my bb who usu doesnt sleep much, slept quite well in the plane. Only problem is got to carry him the whole time.

baby building blocks
genice, u can buy the blocks from Target when u get to the US.

i'm starting work on monday. so today is my last day as a sahm.

re: sleeping thru
my gf's boy is now 16mths. since birth he had only slept thru a handful of times. its a daily struggle for them. they are both working parents and have been sleep deprived for 16 mths! ran out of ideas how to let their bb sleep thru.

good morning mummies,
genice,
you should be on the plane now. all the best for you. remember to come in here often.

happy.gif

re: food
my cereal supply is running low. need oatmeal cereal.
anyone has spare happybellies to let go?
i probably need to go vitakids to get them, but it's out of the way for me.
another choice is to prepare my own. anyone where can i find steel cut oatmeal (not the rolled oatmeal)?

bx,

dun envy other bbs' development. i tink every bb is unique in their own special way. Sometimes, fast standing/walking etc... doesnt mean they will do better than others ard the same age when older.

bbs will develop according to their comfort zone. I rem Cayenne been doing leapard crawl for months, oni in Nov then she started to crawl on fours. I rem most bbs alreadi crawl on four liao.

So i guess we shd simply sit back and njoy our bbs' growth. most important they r happy bbs and healthy!

bbk/lezy,

yes, cayenne is a 15 feb bb too.

XY - i am ok, however, if last min got 1 friend wants to bring her bb along, is that accepted? She don't have trial coupon so she will pay.

I've already reserved a copy from the library, although i have too many books i can handle, haha!

i started reading The Seven Spiritual Laws for Parents by Deepak Chopra, but i find the usefulness is maybe 20%. some concepts are interesting.

Lezy
K also sits like ruth! hehe. never thought of the position like duck? cute.

reading books
where do u find time to read books, flash cards, play with them? don't about the other moms (FTWM or not), when weekends roll around, all i wanna do is PENG SAN.

bkk
so true!! i only have time to read on the bus/train. i even tried to listen more to audio books cos got NO time to read at home, esp now that E will only sleep at 10pm or later...

bkkgal,
i also find no time to flash card. (probably is just excuse).
whenever i got home, what i want to do is to admire her cute expressions and load her more food. :p

everynight is left about 2 hours for all the activities to be completed (include my dinner time).

regarding reading books, i read while i am in the bus to and from my working place. one of the reason that i don't want to get a car

hey, how's K responds to millet and quinoa?

berry,
ya agree that is a good book!

tubao,
the book i'm reading is "positive discipline" by jane nelsen http://www.amazon.com/Positive-Discipline-Toddler-Laying-Foundation-Confident/dp/0307341593/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1236310923&sr=8-2

the other book i like is "calm and compassionate children" by susan dermond cos the number one virtue i want to impart to A is compassion =) http://www.amazon.com/Positive-Discipline-Toddler-Laying-Foundation-Confident/dp/0307341593/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1236310923&sr=8-2

gar
ooh the 2nd book sonds like something i'd be interested in!

thanks everyone for all the recommendations
happy.gif
now we have more books than we have time to read, lol.

oh btw i borrowed the audio book (from library) and skimmed thru the book The 3 Big Questions for a Frantic Family http://www.amazon.com/Three-Big-Que...TF8&s=books&qid=1236312281&sr=1-1
it attracted me cos sometimes i feel like there's so many things going on, feel so frantic! Some concepts were interesting, but basically it's getting your priorities right and not involving your kids in too many activities...

Qingling,
Ueno have lots of nice things to buy. Especially if you are keen to buy scallop. There's a few stall selling at Ueno train station. Maybe can help me to buy. Keke..... Do let me know.

V also walking with hands up for balancing. So cute with it. She can walk from the room and up till the kitchen. Will laugh when she fall down on her bump.

Thankful - yup yup. i stayed there b4..hee..but the scallop u r talking is the fresh one or dried, or those for tibitis one?

Qingling,
Where is ueno?I v suaku
happy.gif
I'll be staying at shinjuku.

Reading,
I read while pumping and at night before sleeping.

Play with baby,
Every morning 6ish to 7ish and evening 7ish to 8ish.

qingling
it's exactly like someone reading to you. which is ok for story books, but for other books like the one i read, sometimes hard to understand cos some things are better understood when you see it? so after listening to the audio book, i borrowed the physical copy, then made a bit more sense cos got charts!
proud.gif

Qingling,
It's those dried scallop, brown colour. I was told quite fresh there. Tried to bargain but unable to. These scallop boil in porridge, good for their body resistance.

Thanks mommies for recommending books....thanks..

Read baby books at weekends after baby's asleep....on weekdays read comic books/newspaper only to relieve stress.

Most of time play flash cards for <2 mins for fun with baby.....when we feel more energetic, we play 20 mins for teaching her to remember them.

Hi, Xiao yun
Seems that I need to be in separate group..weep weep .....

gar/qingling,
i think i wld be staying in one of the biz districts in jap., minato-ku city....doesn't seem like a very interesting plc to stay compared to shinjuku n ueno

tute,
thks so much for ur french beans receipe. ur family sure luv french beans
happy.gif
jus tried one today. smells v good. now waiting for DS to wake up n try.

gar
that is a GOOD idea! maybe no need club, can just share here
happy.gif
or maybe we should start a database, then can list the books there :D

diana
i read the happiest BABY book before E was born. IMHO, my friend passed me the DVD, which is 15 mins long and summarises EVERYTHING, and is easier to understand..
let me know if the toddler one is good!

Gar,
I'm all for it! Let's have a proper place to share ideas and also for easy reference and archival.

I'm suggesting we can open a shared blog? And to be a 'blogger' on it, we should commit to contribute some pointers at least once in 2 weeks? (or else will end up with A LOT of inactive accounts).

But it'll be a commitment eh...dunno if we can all keep up with this?

OR

maybe we can use our facebook group - though it's now quite inactive...

good idea lezy!!
if we use FB, where can we post it there? if shared blog, do we all need to sign up to blogger? or maybe we can do a LJ group ;)

i think no need to be a commitment? cos i dunno about you, but i certainly have enough commitments that i can handle at the moment :p

but we can definitely add in as and when we've finished reading?

Iso..
i know what u mean by having enough commitments...

But i'm thinking along the lines of using this not only as a means of knowledge sharing and time-saver (one reads, many benefit from it) but also as a means of motivating ourselves to keep to something.

I notice our FB group was so enthus in the beginning but now kinda abandoned.

FB allows postings...i not very familiar with FB though.

For Livejournal, i think not possible for more than 1 contributor. Even if we start community, the people have to be Livejournal members first.

For blogger, much more versatile. It can have multiple contributors to one blog. For the rest who want to 'chip in' on-n-off, can also leave comments on the related topics.

I could do with a push to read more. HOnestly we don't have to finish mountains of books. Even if we finish 3 chapters out of 10, i think we can still share something about the book - the beginning of the book that is. LOL.

Gar - Ueno is a nice place, must go
happy.gif
, From Shinjuku to Ueno not far. there's a zoo at ueno park, and i will bring Heidi there
happy.gif

Thankful - i will keep a lookout for it, but the last time i went, i din really saw it
happy.gif
. Is it cheaper in Ueno compared to Sg?

leila - oh i not farmilar with that place, where is it near to? You chose there because of hotel?

Iso, I read the 'happiest toddler on the block' 2 or 3 years back. Pretty good info for me back then, but didnt find the techniques very useful for me personally. But then again, you may hav a different take. Its a good book to read nevertheless.

lezy

hmm.. with LJ we could start a community, but only those who can sign up can post, the others can post thru us. good thing is pple can leave their comments without signing in. maybe we should do an audit to see who has LJ and who has blogger, hahah..

wow, sounds like a work project.

Hi ladies...
It's been a long long time since i come to this thread...
