Pixie, I'm teochew. Si dian jin is traditional bridal gift for us so my hubby cannot 'siam'. Anyway, it was my MIL who said they'll pay for it. I thought would be hubby to pay.

Thanks. I also know my mum will give me space lah, just that I felt imposing on her loh. Coz she needs to stock up food for me and also my 2 nephews, my girl too... I felt bad lah. Anyway, will try pumping more often and see how.

Mummies, has any of you heard of high thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) in infant? My baby girl has just been diagnosed with high thyroid. Tested blood 3x already since birth and the level is still higher than normal. Dr Keoy said need to start her on medication. Any mummies know about this illness can share with me, please.
Xi Yu will turn 1 month in 2 days Been growing well with my BM, has gained exactly 1kg from the day of discharge (2.9kg) to 3.9kg. So happy

It's definitely not easy. Yes, don't stress yourself for either able to BF or not. But at least have a positive mindset - you will sure have milk! If you feel it's because of latching problem, get the lactation specialist to help asap (I strongly feel that I didn't manage to BF Hao Re because he didn't, or even never(?) latch properly). Kam, glad to hear that Xiyu is gaining weight well. No, never heard of high TSH in infant before. Is it hereditary? Did Dr Keoy explain how she got it? How often must she take the medication?

That day seen Dr Keoy, test result was not out yet. His nurse called to tell me TSH level still high, and Dr Keoy said need to start medication. Will see him next week to find out more. From what I googled, it's not heridity and will outgrow will reach puverty. Want to hear from "real life" story than just listen to doc.

Thanks for your encouragement! Y'day my baby boy was discharged from hospital but he still has to go back on Tues for another PD review as PD worried for rebound jaundice. Ever since he returned, he had been very cranky and made me carry him for the whole night! He was crying for his feed for less than 3 hrs and had slight fever too. I don't know why this happened but at least the fever was gone by 5am... This caused me to be so stressed and tired until I have no time to pump BM... But I will try again when my baby boy is more manageable.

I have not heard of babies getting this but I do have 2 adult friends who had thyroids near their throat area since young. I only remember they did when for some operation before (not too sure what is that for...) and had to be on medication for long term. But I can see them leading normal lives, getting married and having children. So I think you should not worry too much too for your girl. Find out more from doc and see what he say.

I have thyroid problem but only diagnosed in my 20s. Usually it's hereditary or stress-related. For infants, I only know that they may have a high TSH level if the mother had thyroid problem and was over-medicated during the pregnancy or the mother's thyroid condition was unstable during the pregnancy. But for such cases, the infants' thyroid condition is usually temporary and will revert to normal after a while. You're not suffering from any thyroid condition, so I'm not sure why Xi Yu has it. But it may be temporary. Don't worry too much.

normally if TSH level is abnormal - a thyroid level has to be checked to see if it's high or low. your dr is prob the best person to answer your questions but with a bit of background knowledge , it'll be easier for you to ask questions as well

Mandy actually emailed me asking me to buy the Disneyland tickets for her impending trip to HK. So i thot since i'm buying, i might as well other Jan08 mommies here who have confirmed any upcoming trips to HK wants me to get the tickets to Disneyland for them as well. My friend here can get the tickets for 10% discount. I can ask my fren to buy and then pass the tickets to one of you all when i'm back on Thurs. The tickets validity is 6mths. Let me know soonest.

Btw, i've also recd a 2 packets of GainIQ Stage 3 (for 1yr onwards) in my mail recently, along with a "birthday gift voucher" that enables u to buy 6 cans of 900g GainIQ and get 1 can free (with free delivery). The expiry date is actually 30sept...as i'll be back on 24th sept, any mommies want to get this from me? DUnno if this can be counted as good deal as i've no idea how the FM systems work!

Thanks for the info. When my girl was born, first test indicate low thyroid and high TSH. Second test at 1 week later, showed normal thyroid but high TSH (lower than first test though). Third test at 1 month showed normal thyroid but still high TSH. That's what puzzled me, why normal thyroid but still high TSH. Dr Keoy briefly mentioned high TSH is no good.

Kam, was reading your blog. How many kg is Hao Re now? He can be upgraded to booster seat now? I'm also looking at buying a booster seat for RaeAnne next year after Mei Mei outgrows the capsule type of car seat. But worried that she can't hit the min weight of 13.8kg by then. Her weight has been hovering around 10.5 kg for a few months.

My sister-in-laws are going..3 families cum old folks cum 7 kids..They are staying at L Nina Hotel..I believed it's out of the normal tourist area. Even MTR line also different colour..so thought of your mall..In case they need to do some shopping at comfortable place.

Have your boy hurt his nose before? If yes, you better bring him to see specialist and see what he says.
Because my nephew had similar problem too coz he knocked himself and injured his nose twice seriously. Thus specialist said that the blood tissue in his nose is now very sensitive and fragile and will tear easily => resulting in frequent nose bleed even when he sneezed too hard... There is nothing much to do about it but to let the tissue heal over time or have to do an operation. Given that he is only 4, my bro decided to leave it first and not do the op. Only thing we can do is keep nursing with ice packs when bleeds and be careful not to let him injure nose again.
