hello mummies,

hope to seek ur advice on EBM...

after pumping the breastmilk, do u leave it at room temperature until baby's next feed or straight away store in the fridge?

if leave at room temperature, wat is the max hours we can leave it? do u heat up the milk if its left at room temperature?

- breast milk at room temp can be stored up to 4hrs.
- if fridge at abr 4deg C, will be 48 hrs
- in freezer abt 3 t0 6mths

if u foresee bb will wake up within 4hrs, then u may jus leave at room temp or put in fridge first. Then warm it when abt time to feed.

mamaash: my bb same like urs. Jus lazy and refuse to latch on. I give in to him and express out now. U jus need to diligently express every 3 hrs for a start and soon supply will come. For me, it been 3 weeks since bb was born and now i can pump up to 200ml liao. Happy BF!

Ask me ask me... me source the net and got reviews for Ameda vs Medela PIS. They showed a chart btw 2 of them and saw that Ameda is easier to maintain and Medela got those hard to reach area when washing. I see I can find the website or not... Think Medela over-priced leh comparing to Ameda.

Petrina must have heed our advices and wore her slightly bigger size chemise and danced in front of hubby! =P

hi ladies! i am mamarumi, initally from jan 2008 thread.but at 37 weeks, next week, doc wants to induce me on wednesday. it's my first pregnancy and i feel terribly anxious, nervous..everything..! my baby at 36 weeks, 5 days is 3.028kg and doc said she didn't want baby to grow too big otherwise delivery may be difficult...i need support and mommies who have been through big baby delivery to tell me if it's gonna be alright...

i had my baby at 39 wks and he weighs 3.9kg. Thank God i successfuly deliver my bb through natural with epi. ...delivery was easy and smooth for me. a few of the mummeis also give birth to big babies naturally...dun worrie 2 much...you can do it

mamarumi, don worry, if u induce cos by then u r 37wks n bb is nt a premature bb n his wt is enuff 2 sustain, it shldnt b a prob giving birth by natural birth. I induced when i was 38wks as bb seem 2 start growing a little big, even gynae n e labour ward nurses commented my bb look big, if fact his head is big! When my bb was born, he was 3.3kg. I glad i induced early otherwise i probably hv problems giving birth 2 him if he is near edd.

Doc jus burst Petrina's waterbag... still can sms me though.. hahaha

the first day when my bb came home he also cry the night through with minimal sleep but that's norm cuz my #1 also like that subsequent days then okay le..bb cry can be fore a few reasons. Check for these:
1. hungry
2. soiled diaper
3. wind in tummy (apply ru yi oil)
4. insecure (swaddle them or carry them if so)

should hit one of the above if not then have to try and figure out what's wrong le.
 
baked bean, it may be a sign ya! Am sure ur bb will be a happy bb oso...hope to see u upload ur bb pic soon.

ah-bie: if leave at room temp not necessary to heat up if feed within 4 hrs. But u may jus wan to warm the milk b4 feeding. For me, i will choose to warm it as i feel feeding warm milk will smooth and make bb sleep better. However, at times i will express close to feeding time so tat bb can have it fresh. In this case, i will not warm it as jus fresh from our body and still abit warm. Awy, do ensure that u capped the milk bottle well if leave at room.

Colic... bb crying non-stop for more than 2 hours should be colic liao. Either you go buy Telon those Jamu massaging oil(not as spicy as Yu Ee You)... massage(use yr palm or 4 fingers not 1 finger) anti-clockwise on the stomach for the bb. If this carries on, got to bring bb to PD. PD will give colic drops.

Hi Constance, yes 1 bedded is in shortage in Mt A. When I was admitted for false contraction 3 weeks ago, I overheard one hubby complaining to staff nurse that he has booked 1 bedded and was given 2 bedded due to room shortage.

Witty, your baby is so cute, he has the cheeky look.

alien, keep pumping every 3hrs then supply will be in very soon. Need to be 'on' for the 1st few days. For me, supply come in from day 5...good luck! Oh yes, i drink alot of red date water.
 
alien, my bm ml had been increased slowly, nt sure which 1 got e effect 4 increasing bm, but every morning i w take milk 4 bf formula together w frangreek, den rest of e day r red dates water, evening a big bowl of soup, nite is milk 4 bf formula again. Am nw trying 2 pump every few hrs.

think all new borns first day normally will cry the night through cuz getting adjusting to new place...thankfully my mum jaga first night for me if not black eye panda...at least now eveyr night he wake up about 2.5-3 hours for milk then sleep le so i still have bit of rest...

I also have small lumps in the armpit. those are milk ducts. i get my massage lady to clear for me. she also mention to me not to over-stimulate our breasts (prevent excessive express BF). so now, i m only latching on my baby. Ur milk will come in soon... be patient.

Did anyone latch on and EBM for future use now? any problems of 'over-supply'? sometimes my breast is leaking liked tap...

my gal seems to have alot of phelgm, she's making alot of noises when she sleep. feel so uneasy for her.... she's struggling to clear her blockage. should visit the PD? any babies having same problem?

Baby Qi Jie is finally out! Weighin 2.145kg. His cord went round his neck twice!

Now feelin pain on n off at stomach area.tryin to exercise my toes now.

Baby is still in nursery as his temperature is low. Can't feed or see him and think my milk is not in yet.

besides applying ru yi oil, I also use binder to wrap bb's tummy, it's supposed to keep tummy warm and prevent wind from building up. The binder is a small piece of cloth with velcro. You can buy it from bb shops.

my boy has same problem, makes all kinds of sound when sleeping. I checked with PD, she says it's normal, coz bb's respiratory pipe not fully developed yet. Don't worry.

I read fenugreek vs goat's rue. Read somewhere that there is nothing proven that fenugreek can increase bm. So I am trying Goat's Rue from Motherslove. It is a type of herb like fenugreek also. Dunno is it the soup, milo, fluid or the goat's rue taht helped me increase bm. Think you don't kan cheong first cos my first week milk supply like 40ml.
