(2007/11) November MTBs

ASHM, no problem. Will pass it to u! Think i can take 1/2 day leave to meet for high tea YAlor, working mothers very difficult... Me lagi worse, a lazy mummy...

Catherine, small issue. Now, i let Claire drink abt 240ml of milk (no cereals added coz of her constipation)... Then we will tell her its bedtime... She will play for at least 30 mins b4 she falls asleep. Most of the time, i will act that i m asleep...

Ya, Claire will also move to the edge. Most of the time, she will be sprawled on the floor in the morning!

michviv,
G had his rotavirus jabs already, so how is it possible that he's got the rotavirus infection? Btw, just curious, which hospital is your hubby working in?

poissons,
my HB also got infected tat time. strangely i was the one who stayed with J in hospital. but he was the one who washed J's bedsheet coz J vomitted in his sleep. so i guess he got infected tat way. it's v impt tat u (and everyone in ur family) practice good hygiene esp after diapering G coz the bacteria are in his poo. tat's wat the PD stress to me every morning when he examined J in hospital. even after J discharge, the bacteria will still be in his poo for almost 2 weeks. oh i rem i think i got unwell on the 3rd day of J's hospital stay too. symptoms of wanting to vomit, feeling exhausted, etc. wat to do? *sigh* no help at all even during the day. coz my HB is sick & resting at home. then J wake up almost every hr at nite either due to discomfort or noise from neighbour. (we stayed in 2-bedder) sorry i tink i sound like i complaining. i know how hard it is for u now. are u on leave to take care of G? is ur mother / MIL ard to help? it's good to have an extra pair of hands ard to help out in watever way so tat u can rest as much as possible. i had no appetite but i still force myself to eat all the meals. u must take care & be strong for G. *HUGS*

k@ye,
wat time does C take her dinner? J takes dinner ard 7pm and bedtime milk (200ml no cereal) ard 830pm. these few days he eat 2 small bowls of rice and drank 300ml of milk!

ASHM, we feel we are wasting our money on SM. A kept running ard or stamp her feet on the table & dun pay attn. Last Sunday, one parent indirectly complain that she is very distracting. We hv yet to start home practice and for SM it is very important to do home practice. We just too lazy and she's tired at night too.

Catherine, are you over feeding J? Depending on what time A has her dinner, we may or may not give her milk b4 bedtime. If hubby tuck her in, he'll put her in the yao lan. If I do it, I'll let her roll ard in our bed with her pacifier and handky. I lie beside her either watching TV or on my laptop. She will fallasleep on her own. She has not wake up in the middle of the night for milk in the longest time.

missA - Oh I see.... looks like should send them when they are older? Maybe less running around? Ya talk about home practise - i think its kindda of hard for us, working mothers, to continue to "work" after office hours and moreover the kiddo will be tired too.....

catherine,
To be frank, I didn't even dare to look at G's poo for fear of bring infected..haha. I just take a glance, fold and dispose it. Yah, I have supporting mum and mil, they take turns to look after G (cos' my mum also got infected). My hubby also sleep beside G so that I can get more sleep at night. The virus is so strong that my MIL and her youngest son got infected over the weekend also...aiyo.

Lazykat, Ueno, Plumsource - Fancy a high tea next Fri? Its been awhile since we last met....
happy.gif

poissons - how come the doc refuse to admit G? its sounds like this virus is very fierce leh... To me it is easier for him to be taken care by the nurses and it will be less taxing for everyone.

oh dear, hugs hugs poissons. I think shd try to admit G. It's been quite a number of days and G is still not getting better. Have you tried seeing other PDs for a 2nd opinion?

ashm, some kids can sit still at this age, it's just her la. kids <3 supposed to be able to learn faster so if u are keen hv to start to register cos wait time is > 6 mths.

ASHM: hey I am keen to have Matt join u guys. but hor we will prob be back in Singapore mid July cos I need to leave Shanghai by 35 weeks. So u think there is any chance you can leave a slot for me? Or check with the school and see how?

MissA: oh dear, are you signing up for next term? i bought the linking memory and peg memory too in the end.
you can try
happy.gif
takes less than 1min a day just to do that
happy.gif

i find that for my older girl age 3+, i can "see" the effects of SM better cos she can respond..especially for linking memory..she just started for a month and was surprised that she could remember the 1st 30 cards after me going though with her at home for 1week, so more encouraged to do it..
but for luke at 14m, can't really tell and it's harder cos he's always moving around and won't sit still..he used to sit still but now he's moving around and not really looking too! but i think it's a phase and i hope he will grow out of it
happy.gif

MissA, can pm me the flashcard link library too? thanks
happy.gif

Cat, Claire has her porridge ard 5pm+ on weekdays and ard 6pm+ on weekends. But she needs to hv her milk ard 9.30pm before her bedtime.

Poissons, aiyo... Take care... The virus really very strong.

MissA, A & Claire can shake hands... Super active and cannot sit still. And loves to climb up and down chairs, sofas....

Poissons,

hope G gets well soon, u muz take care too.
I heard even if already had the rotavirus jab oso might still get it, but prob less serious.
Not too sure, better to check with PD.

fushiastar, we know that at this age, we hv to believe that our kids absorb and wont be able to display that they got it. will start home practice once get the materials ready.

k@ye, she's so hyperacive that she has never sit still for > 1 min. it's so exhausting looking after her! Very glad that she nap quite a lot haha!!

Cindy, got the $$ liao!

MissA, at least A naps alot but Claire simply refused to nap even though she is very tired. Sometimes, i can even hear her snoring in the sarong or on her mattress!

tinkabel - good good Matt can join us! Could you download the form from the website and send it through to Michelle. This is just to put Matt on the waiting list.

Please let her know that Matt can join in July and I guess you will pay pro-rated fees
happy.gif
If she doesn't respond to you, let me know and I will call her to follow up.

missA,
my HB is also worried tat i overfeed J. but if i dun give enuff milk at bedtime, he dun wan to sleep!

poissons,
wow, tat virus is so contagious!

catherine, how abt giving him less dinner? If I feed A dinner at 7pm, I prob only give milk at 9plus. Alternatively give him water instead.

hey hey know it's still super early. I am going to be in Singapore April to May for 2-3 weeks. Trying to plan a trip to NZ during then for 10 days or so and leave Matt with my ILs. Last good holiday before no hols for a long time. Let's try to meet up whilst I am here.

What about the rest of you girls?

ASHM: So i fax her my form, do I have to pay now? Or I can pay when I join the class then?

Tinkabel - Yes please pay the registration fee now - this is their formality to be on the waiting list. You can via your credit card.

ASHM: Sorry one more question. Paisehhh, worried abt logistics since I am currently overseas. So we just pay registration fee now? And pay the term fees later? Then hor, if continue to reg next course, no need to pay reg fee again?

Tinkabel - Yes - it is a one time payment. No need to pay another time if you were to sign up another course.

Mummies - just confirmed that the term 3 class will start on 4 July 2009.

re: porridge water (bee kor)
ystdy was at the coffeeshop having dinner w hb and my gal. the lady working there commented C was too small sized for her age. then suggested we give her 'bee kor' to beef her up - makes the flesh more 'kiat kiat' coz now she very 'lembek' type. hahaha...

maybe will try lor, even if it's a little late oredi - just hope she will wana drink the porridge water w milk coz now even milk intake has reduced! grrr...

catherine,
my gal usually takes about 20mins to half an hr before she finally sleeps but we will usually pretend to sleep and 'snore' loudly while she toss n turn and climb and crawl about. i thk after they r tired, they will sleep liao lor.

hope J will get used to the new sleep routine but my advise is to stop rocking him liao, else you'll really be very tired every nite leh...

kittybride: One of the mummies in SH actually give butter to her girl, to add extra fats. When I heard abt that, I was shocked... Dun worry, as long as Chloe is healthy, that's fine. My niece who is almost 3 years now, is also quite small. I guess being healthy is the key. Dun owrry so much.

Poissons: My hubby is working at Queenstown Polyclinic now. They have standard procedures at KKH so they will not admit unless the baby has non-stop vomitting. Its to prevent too many babies from staying in hospital as they may get more potent bugs there. And yes, rotavirus jab is not 100% effective, think it provides 70% protection which covers the more serious strains. There are other virus strains out there as they mutate so fast. After E got sick in Bangkok, I'm very particular about washing his hands when we're outside as he always puts stuff in his mouth.

Tinkabel: Great to hear that you'll be back in town. See you soon.

Sleeping: E used to be dependent on his old car seat for sleeping as it doubles up as a rocker. But he was outgrowing it so fast and his feet was sticking out so we changed his sleep routine. When he takes a nap in the afternoon, he will drink his milk then I will say "time to sleep" and make him lie down and not move. He cried quite a bit at first but now he can lie down with his pacifer whilst I pat his bottom. Took about 1 week to institute. Was very useful when we went to Club Med. hehe.

michviv: thanks. Looking forward to meeting up with you mummies. BTW are you still intending to send Ethan to little skool house? and also JG? I thinking if I do both for him, whether it would be too much. And not sure if I have the energy to ferry him ard, since i will be bz with #2 too. What a dilemma!

tinkabel: I'm still discussing with hubby about whether to do both. But he's definitely ready for school cos he is getting more and more frustrated with us out of boredom at home. Thinks its because he learns too fast. sigh...welcome to the "terrible 15 months instead of terrible 2s"...so maybe more activities may be better for him. Its just that me and hubby hate to see him get sick so often so we may think about starting JG first and starting LSH later when he is 20+ months or 2 years old.

Ya, I'm sure its going be challenging with 2 kids. 佩服你. =)Rope in your parents/ILs la. Maybe they can look after number 2 whilst you accompany Matt to class to have "alone" time with him doing something fun at JG. LSH is time for Matt to learn to be more independent and for you to be alone with "number 2". Ask them to help ferry to school and you pick Matt up?

ASHM: Oh! I see about the pricing. =)The JG folks just gave me a call and said that we can schedule for trial class once our little ones turn 18 months.

ASHM.
Hiya, I would love to join you ladies for high tea. Unfortunately fridays are no good for me, I have to ferry my boys from school to enrichment classes. Let me know when you're having high tea either on weekends or Mon, Tue, Thurs ;)

Something funny to share, Claire will call anybody who is sitting in a stroller, "baby" regardless of the age.

LAst nite, there was a gal (4 yrs old) sitting in the stroller. She walked up to her and called her "Baby" so loud! Later, i carried her and she still pointed to the gal and "Baby!"

michviv: I think Matt not as advanced as Ethan yet. But he is so active nowadays. Chasing after him really tires me out. We just want to put him in school to keep him engaged. And also during my maternity, like u say, need time for #2, even though I am more experienced this time. My experince of 1st 3 mths for Matt is really bad even though after that when we started putting him on routine, he then becomes very easy to take care. Now with more experience, I will start #2 on routine from Day 1. But still, not sure if #2 will adapt to the routine as quickly as Matt. In fact, Matt adapted quickly in a short span of 2 weeks and drop night feeds.

Oh i am going to back end April to mid May. Let me know when you schedule that trial class and I can join u guys.

tinkabel,
my bro also told me to add unsalted butter and bovril to C's porridge to boost her up! i only add bovril and she liked it - coz more tasty than the normal bland ones we prepare for her.

anyway, probably will try the bee kor 1st and see her reaction.

re: active toddlers
i think at this stage, they wana explore anything and everything... i also feel that C is getting bored at home with the same toys, etc and started to venture to opening our drawers, taking stuffs out and throwing them on the floor. we're also running out of ideas, most of the time we're just plain tired (and very lazy) to intro new things/activities to her during weekdays.

i really admire those who can still do flashcards, etc with their todds in the evenings!!

Catherine,
I used to carry and rock ZY to sleep - until she is getting too heavy for me (so one night i just declare to her i wont be carrying her anymore to sleep and i just lay her down onto the big bed surrounded by pillows and blankets. And I also lay next to her, pretending to be asleep - no eye contact, no conversation, at most some patting on the butt or sayang her head. It takes almost a wk to establish this routine, so gd luck to u and J!

K@ye,
been wanting to ask, wat is Claire's daily meals like? Even after u up her fibre (vege + fruits esp papaya) it still doesnt help at all?

Michviv,
I also feel that ZY gets bored easily, guess wat she resorts to? Sucking thumb! Already hard to make her give up during bedtime and now hv to pre-occupy her with activities in order to divert her attention away.

ASHM,
the JG term 3 still seems so far away.. next wk hi-tea i may not be able to make it. Confirm again ok?

hi ASHM and mich and mommies,

think i won't commit myself and Travis to the JG course first hee. Don't know how things will be like when the new baby comes, plus i'll be putting T in CC in june, so don't know if it'll be too heavy for him. Too many uncertainties for me to make a commitment right now. So hehe but by then if there's vacacy, def will consider!

kaye:: HOpe C is better already!

poissons:: HUGS HUGS. JIA YOU there!

poissons,
hope G gets better soon!

re: carrying todds to sleep
i am and occasionally still doing that leh... i used to be able to let her finish her bedtime milk and then put her in cot, then pat her bottom while making her lie sideways... however, last wkend, i wasn't able to do that as she started crying when i put her down in her cot, carry her and pat her, she also struggle, put her on my bed but she keep turning and tossing... haiz, so difficult! hope she will sleep better this wkend!

kittybride,
think no harm giving our kiddos the porridge water... think it's quite good also as per what my mum told me b4 (not sure why though :p)

good morning mommies!

Kaye, Poissons, hope your darlings are feeling better today!

Anyone knows if the samsonite shop at terminal 3 sell the sammies bag? Haha, me gg t3 today, so maybe go check it out Haha.
