I find spending quality family time with the child is juz as impt. No doubt they learn fast now and we hope to 'assist' this learning curve but juz spending time nua-ing as a family and growing up feeling secured is juz as impt.

I dun remember the hours my mum spent with me on my piano or schoolwork. But the weekly tim sum, the stolls along the beaches, gg to botanics garden with my parents are still very fresh in my mind. (Kekekeke.... me finding excuses to cover... )

Eh..... I have always been a slob til yday. Yday was the only day i try to put on makeup (if u call the bbcream + loose powder makeup) myself after perhaps 10 years?? LOL....

i buy those multi function BB cream, with sunblock included. so what you need to do is just to:

1. wash
2. toner
3. bb cream (which emcompasses moisturiser, sunblock, makeup base. some brands claim they have skin whitening, oil control, concealer thrown in as well)

4. the rest.

can you imagine #3 is made up of SIX individual steps if you apply them separately?! *faint*

that's why there's this craze about bb cream. cos it's supposed to do more for your face. but this is just the claims ok. i haven't tried them myself. just posting watever i READ oni

I have senitive skin, so will get small pores. Last time makeup got problem so i scare liao after treat my face didn't use makeup till recently need to conduct training so i start on makeup again. But only on days i conduct training.
When go facial always kena scold that i didn't take care.
So now got many problem, black head, oil pores, dry skin bah.
Will want to try bb cream as it serve as a skin care product too. Try to get this week.

and if u, non educator, can feel panicky abt being 'lazy' and being a stumbling block to YE's pace.. can u imagine my STRESS?! when i am supposed to know how education works and how they learn and what they need to learn blah blah blah.. sometimes i look at teng.. i feel sorry that he has a lazy mother and a bochap father leh! seriously . it is not he cannot. but his parents too lazy! *sigh*

I am ALWAYS confronted with this dilemma.. --> let children grow up bein keenly aware of the surroundings and with minimal stress they will learn.. VS equipping them with some basic skills ...and encourage them to learn..

needless to say. miser is the former.. to him.. running around naked in a kampong is the best way to learn! and all enrichment classes are a pure waste of time.. and $.. coz the teachers dunno what they are doing! wah liew. he said that coz he has not experienced good teachers from the classes that teng attends so far.. haiz..

We brought Jonas to the swimming pool yesterday coz it was so hot. The little daredevil can now jump off the side of the pool on his own and shrieks each time he does it.

i'm like miser leh. i believe the first case is better. let the children grow at their own pace. i just need to expose them mah. i send her to kindermusik and GUG not cos i want her to be smart. the music cos she likes it. she's always dancing and asking me to sing for her. then GUG is also not cos i want her to learn per se. but i want her to be able to interact with other people and know that the world doesn't evolve around her alone! eps since she's gonna be an only child

Both my hubby and I are educators (in a way) and we are the laziest? We do not send son to enrichment classes, nor have flashcard sessions with him etc. Every child learns differently and if we observe more, can tell which area his learning preferences lean towards.

SQ: but very hard lor.. like u say peer pressure.. then gan cheong singaporeans..i have to tell myself.. with a lot of effort.. to let teng develop at his own pace.. and dun push him too much.. it's hard!! so now i conclude.. on a professional front, i am adovocating 'own time own target' as a true source of education.. but take that farcade away. i am like any others.. kiasu parents.. prime targets to get sucked into this rat race!!! haiz.. *bury my head in ground*

re:quality time with children...sometimes after spending time with her, i find that I understand her needs a little better or when she has mastered a new skill, or when we both come home happy, i feel that we've spent 'quality time' together.

that's why we must constantly remind ourselves. i'm thankful that my hubby is a good balance for me (no doubt i complain about him being nua3)

you know at GUG, some kids who have started earlier than us, they are still crying in class everytime. the parents are usu v stressed, esp when the see the other kids happy.
then there's this daddy who keeps "scolding" the girl: "do you want to go back in and LEARN?" etc.
wa, damn stressed leh.

I am going for facial later, which I really dread. Sort of like going for bikini wax, we hate going through it but have to cause we like the results and can't do it ourselves... heehee. Especially the part on squeezing pimples. I actually have a lot of little tiny ones and when she squeeze I really felt it is the most painful thing in the world. Worse than waxing, worse than childbirth - but i was on epi la, not counted.

The thing about BB cream is to treat it like a very good foundation. I have been trying BRTC for past few days now, I don't feel it is a miravle cream leh. But it does work as a good concealor for pimples. And hor... because of the nature of BB creams being so sticky and all that, it is very very very important to remove it thoroughly, otherwise will just clog your pores and make things worse.

I know teng like to do things SLOWLY... he likes to manipulate things with his fingers all the time.. and he IGNORES social interaction one..totally bo hiew pple around him and their reactions or what not.. very task specific boy..if he is engrossed in something.. he is vERY engrossed in it.. like Miser.. totally unlike me.. who is SOO easily distracted..

jonas is opposite of teng. he gets distracted very easily (like me) and need to constantly change his activities to keep him occupied. he also gets frustrated if things do not happen quickly and will start throwing things around, hence will need to give him tasks that are for his level otherwise he gets angry and will do something else.

for kids like teng, do you find it easier to teach?

i've always wanted to send jonas to such classes mainly for social interaction but his daddy is like so bochap about it and would rather bring him to the beach on weekends.

some bb creams are stickier than others, but the stickiness is like sunblock consistency, not glue type of stickiness. for those who are already used to putting on makeup, it is like thick liquid/cream foundation.

saffy: ehhh. ok.. teng has the concentration span needed..a relatively calm temperment at home. .(outside, he panicks more..) he will go abt his own biz.. walking around from room to room.. throw balls play with things.. and pretty much.. vry independent.. he will STARE at u for a long time for u to SLOWLY flash the cards to him..

BUT hor. i find him a bit 'slow' to realise things and hence cause and effect.. like must repeat quite a few times for him to get it.. (though i know bbs learn by repetition..) and what i think he will get.. is not he gets leh!

meaning. dunno who started to teach him to signal 'three' .. like holding the fingers up for the ok sign.. he did that almost immediately.. then i repeat like crazy. mama.. he goes papa and addresses every one else i nthe family except me! that is why miser says teng doesn't like me.... haiz..

good question. we are running out of ideas to keep him occupied on weekends!! we used to bring him out to malls and supermarkets, but ever since he learnt how to walk, it gets dangerous coz he starts to pull things off shelves and don't let us hold his hand so he runs around.
nowadays we bring him to swim, or to parks/playground and recently to Changi Terminal 3. I realize there are a LOT of kids there, coz it's got aircon, big open space for them to run and got Popeye's Fried Chicken haven't tried it yet coz always very crowded but looks damn good lor.

i can only say that kids surprise us constantly with what they want to do. "own time own target" is what i tell my hubby

teng sounds exactly like my nephew. v calm temperament. my mil always comment tat YE looks like a wild dog beside him! ok, she din really use this term but tat's what she meant lah. every am at the playground, there are older kids than her. but she is the sum2 seng1 one who will lead them to play, sing, run or cheer.

i just let her be. though my mil thinks gals should be quieter and more demure. haha
