Angel: thanks for the concern. I am still feeling weak but have to be up to tend to Teng. My mum can't handle him alone on normal days dun say now when he is so cranky and clingy coz of stomach flu.

CK: Teng merlioned again last night . dunno due to eat too much or what. but his diarrhea has stopped. not sure because of the constipating BRAT diet he is on on because his virus has indeed gone away. now no more poo and i think he is getting constipated? sigh..

family never listen lah. tell them wash hands dun listen till all sick liao. me, i wash my hands, but too exhausted caring for a very very clingy 12 kg load (i think lesser liao. teng lost quite a lot of weight over this flu).. so now also feeilng very weak. sigh. horrible. i hope these days would be over soon.

Thanks for ur concern and advice leh. U always 'in hiding' but still took the effort to respond to my post for help. Thanks a lot, deeply appreciative

when someone walking out from our house, tian will look at him;her, then if that person walk out, she will eh eh eh eh. like want to follow like that.
any little noise at the door she will turn her head towards it.. very kay poh.

take care. sorry, i din log on over the weekend (i seldom do anyway). can give half strength FM or isomil. isomil recommended. ultimately most impt is to keep bb hydrated. i dun think half strength FM will cause diarrhea. diarrhea is def bcos of the stomach flu. M kena 3-4x before liao.. the LS is the ez part. the worse is the merlion part. bcos cannot eat or drink. vv cham one. M usually LS, so still can eat, drink, not so bad.

i used Paul's yogurt and cold fresh milk (either NTUC or farmhouse, whichever i have at home). star used farm union's yogurt and paul's UHT fresh milk (read ingredients, must be fresh milk. some UHT is powdered milk).
 
pax: i tried leh.. in the end pacify also no use.. give water than can wor... when she cry.. she still flipping here n there like got ants on backside like tat..

Astro: ya.. LS give isomil.. very good.. bt if ur boy can't take.. buy isomil and give half the amount of milk powder with normal amt of water.. it works for my gal when she was LS-ing..

ask u hor, for the Shoo Shoo, which one is nicer for boy? A28 (blue giraffe), A25 (brown giraffe) or Y46 (blue whale)? I already choose A28 but then I think A25 also looks nice and Y46 also not bad! hmm, for bb 1yr old to wear, size L should be ok hor? sorry i so mah-fan..

My home-made yogurt failure leh...I go n add more starter after 12hrs & then the whole thing turn sour wif some moulds at the water level. Yucks! Gonna try again

Pax: dun apologise. Yes, the vomitting is the problematic part. can't feed or let him drink too much if not trigger more vomitting. basically he lethargic and i even more..

no more LS dunno if virus gone or because due to constipating diet. Brought Isomil , he refused to drink. back on full strength formula, he not drinking much also (max was 100ml this morning) sometimes total refusal.. he also no appetite. very fussy, whining and crying all the time, i think a lot of wind in tummy very uncomfortable for him..

I feel that he is warm to the touch. meausure him, no temp.. dr ong away, can't call to ask.... maybe lacks water. but how to feed more water if if it can trigger the vomitting? feel very helpless. scared wait trigger aother round of shingles.
 
pax: do u think i should get some rehydrating salts for teng to drink ( or i force feed him to drink *sigh)? can't go on like that with such low liquid intake. lost quite some weight already. though have reserves but cannot go on like that..

M also dun like the taste of isomil. kids r vv smart one. if they know that taking smthg can cause them to be miserable, they will abstain. slowly re-intro FM again. since he can take 100ml, why dun u give that amt, but in shorter interval. say 100ml in 2hrs? since he's not merlioning that much, skip the anti-vomit and c how it goes. dun force him, k? is he taking porridge? this is wat we did when M had stomach flu. cook white porridge with a piece of meat or fish. make porridge more watery. dun give the meat / fish, jus the porridge. give him some infacol? also is he farting? farting is a good sign that he is releasing gas and recovering... it takes up to 7days. today is day 4. hang in there. he'll be well soon.

dun disturb the setting yogurt. itchy fingers har? after u add the yogurt culture to the warm milk, seal it immediately (cling wrap is the best)!!! vv impt. this is to prevent any foreign things fr getting to ur yogurt. then dun disturb it anymore, i.e. dun stir. if u wan to chk, jus use a teaspoon and scoop a little on the top. then seal it back. make sure the teaspoon is clean and DRY.

your teng dun wanna drink water huh?? or just merely no appetite and interes in everything..... i add delrosa to water and let my boy drinks leh... he's better now, at least still drink.....
 
Angel: why u go add starter culture into the yogurt mixture after 12hrs? starter culture can only add in the beginning. dun touch it after sealing it. yogurt should be a success, only sumtime, it might be more watery.. but if u put in fridge, it should harden a bit more.

QQ: why ur yogurt turn to tou hu? cos the milk not hot enough? i tried one batch last week, it turned slight tou fu too.. very slight only, i was wondering if i did not heat the milk warm enuff??

M simply REFUSED to take the rehydrating salts. the only way was to give white porridge cooked with some meat. that was suggested by Dr Ong. can also give apple juice. 100plus also can.
dun worry abt the weight part, pls. most impt thing is to nurse teng back to health. i can tell u fr experience that kids r vv resilient and wil bounce back and eat lots and put back on all the weight that they've lost.. so dun worry abt the wt part. PLS!

michelle, remind u again lah. your K is almost 2 months younger than our baby gals here and at 9kg, K is already heavier than most of them. 2 mths leh. she will grow taller. btw 700g in a month is ok, bcos she is starting solids and cutting milk intake. can u imagine if she cont to put on 1-1.5kg a month. she would be a FAT 1-yr-old baby liao... :p
 
pax: that's the max he took for these few days. other times, he will arch his back and refuse. i stopped the anti-vomitt two days ago.

cooked porridge for him but a few spns , refused. yes.. have to force feed infacol since he wun take it in his milk.. farting a few times.. but today not much.. u counted the days for me? only day 4??? how come it seems like eternity!! arghh.. i hope so. that i can have the spirits to tease u liao.. now. i am just feeling very low..

yes.. got to hang on. not whining ah *wink*

Teng's not drinking water, partly bcos he has associated drinking water with vomitting, which is vv miserable for him. he abstains, so he won't feel miserable. the only way is to give him in lesser qty, more frequently. dun force.

Mist: he will drink water.. but these few days think he drank too much (when we fed him too much) then merlion everything out! .. think h's stomach cannot handle so much fluid yet.. now he sleeping lor.. sleeping a lot.. just let him sleep lah.. sleeping is the best wayt to recover, no? hmmm.. will it make him dehydrate instead? dwhat is delrosa? u said before right? somekind of vitamin salt?

and fruit juice (apple juice?) and rice water (watery porridge?) doesn't aid in the recovery? weight still ok coz we all know he has excess to spare. but this kind of slimming not healthy lah.. see him so uncomfy, can't do anything to help alleivate the discomfort.. feed too much cannot/wun take.. dun feed also cannot.. kill me.
 
pax: think he abstain from the milk instead of water.. but as i said. too much water might trigger the vomitting (dunno true or not) but from what we expereinced last two nights after hisporridge feed then we fed him water. he merlion liao lor.. and he ate very little porridge only..forgot to add.. i def have to force feed him infacol lah..

star: hmmm.. the LS just stopped yesterday. and i thought he recovered liao.. sigh. still merlion when ate solids.. hmmm.. gave him lacteol prescribed by dr ong. that helps and very soon no more. coz i think doctors worry LS will cause dehdyration very fast.. so gve this bacteria to regulate the tummy fluids..

apple juice and rice water dun aid BUT help to keep the baby HYDRATED which is more impt. as in all virus (like influenza), baby's body got to fight the virus on his own. no medicine can help. sleeping is for the body to rest and recover. if he's running a little temp, i feel that it's ok, bcos it means the body is fighting off the bad things. use ur motherly instinct, if u seriously think he's really not well (dehydrated like no wet diapers for many hours), i suggest u bring him to KKH A&E or TMC clinic.

too much water will trigger vomitting. dun think Lacteol regulate the tummy fluids, but to intro the good bacteria back to the system, bcos the good bacteria have all gone with the LS. LS cause dehydration faster than merlion

yes, as long as he's passing urine, he's not dehydrated. jus give Teng in smaller qty. say 2oz in 20-30min?

the 'gayish' PD not bad leh, i told him Leia has stranger anxiety, so he keeps hiding away from her, like a monkey hiding behind her, trying to take her temp etc, so funny. but he's good leh, Leia ok with him after a while...

star, i also go measure tian tonight. haha! need to confirm

and we just brought tian to see Dr. cause she has some rashes + one eye swollen.. her eyes also red red. dunno why. PD said she might be due to insect bites since she spotted a few. then also got hong mo.. sigh!! poor gal, face not pretty liao. its super itchy. she kept scratching and scratching. very cham. Dr ong not around, so i went angelin due to desperation.

i just came back.. like no need to work like that. got to go lab liao.

After this.. the 2nd episode of sickness AFTER swimming. hb said, no more swim until she turns one or 2 years old.. we scare liao. so far just happen that afterswim then got problems..
 
Pink: thanks. teng down with stomach flu.. whole family sick with the virus also. me not the virus but feeling weak. careful abt leia. teng also had runny nose and blocked nose.. and then escalates to stomach flu.. wash ur hands hor..esp when now flu season.. cannot afford to be careless abt hygiene.. when comes to bb health. i learn it the hard way all the time.. sian

Slowly Teng will be ok. Just like to drink apple juice should be ok. Avoid milk temp loh.

Har, Tian eye swollen. Poor tian somemore got itchy rashes. Mmm, have to avoid swimming temp loh.
