QQ: the yakult straw texture too hard.. u need to use these baby straw cup, the straw i think is soft silicon material, much softer and i think tats why easier to suck as compared to the yakult straw. u wanna consider getting a cup and let tian try?

hi mummies, so today's topic is cups.
i agree with star, mag mag straw cup is quite distracting to use. why? coz anthea likes to fiddle with the cap when drinking. last sun she dropped her cup and the cap chipped, so i removed the cap and no more distraction! star, i will buy the combi cup u rec, sounds gd.
i am interested in the learn & groove musical table but i wont order with pax lah, coz too bulky req extra shipping cost. i still have $400 worth of robinsons voucher to use by march 2008, so will try my luck there.
anyone knows if they have it in spore? i wonder if the height of the table is just nice for anthea to pull herself up. if it helps in encouraging babies to stand, astro maybe u can consider buying for teng.

the mag mag last marking is 180ml... so, if i make the milk till 180ml + milk powder in, SUPER FULL liao... wahahaha... i need something bigger... wahahaha... she can drink from the spout veri fast... i like lei... don have to wait so long... rubber time...

Alamak... i somehow have this feeling tat almmost all the march babies are already drinking from a straw cup.. now edde and SQ confirms it, cos anthea and YE been drining from a straw cup for a while liao!!!aiyo no wonder Rae so slow in dev, cos the mummy slow, delay in starting her

aiyoh astro, poor teng.. maybe he short short coz he is falling sick.. dun "train" him for the moment liao lor.. must sayang him more.. hey yesterday i jinx myself leh... i told u anthea no more reflux liao rite.. then last nite and this morn she vomitted.. *faint* i hope its not reflux again...

this few days have been "training" anthea.. macham boot camp.. once she reached home i will train her to stand/walk, crawl, pincer grasp her cheerios, play by herself... then she cry and cry.. secarly she associate home = torture.. no wonder she clinged on to her daddy yesterday when she reached home and refused to let me carry... think i shldnt push her too much...

A straw cup can be used as a tool to train the tongue into the right position. These are the steps you will want to follow.
Once you have purchased a straw cup allow your child several weeks to get used to the new cup. Keep in mind they are now drinking all their liquids from this cup. After the child is really comfortable with the new cup cut 1/4? off the top of the straw. This will make it so the child will have less straw to put in their mouth while drinking. A few weeks later, when your child is really comfortable drinking from this cup cut another 1/4? off the top of the straw. Every few weeks repeat this step until your child only has about 1/4? of straw left they can put in their mouth. This assures that they cannot suckle the straw and their tongues will be in the proper position for good speech development.

There are many children out there that can drink from sippy cups without affecting their speech. But, if you can set your children up for success from the beginning why wouldnft you? If you have already gone the route of sippy cups and your child substitutes /t/ for /k/, /d/ for /g/, -th- for /s/ or /z/, or has a lateral lisp your child will benefit from moving their tongue back with the help of a straw cup. Excessive drooling can also be an indicator that your child needs the strengthening that can come from drinking through straws. As a rule, my children only use straw cups as opposed to sippy cups and I encourage my clients to do the same.

Drinking from a normal cup will also promote appropriate tongue positioning. Introduce normal cups as soon as you feel your child is ready. If you want to teach your child to drink from a normal cup make sure they are not supporting the cup with their tongue. If they seem to lose a lot of fluid while drinking help them practice by giving them single sips while you hold the cup.

maybe bel is having separation anxiety... my boy also like that, a month ago... once i step into the kitchen, he will cry.... initially also dun know what happen to him, then i keep talking and assuring him that i will go back to him once i'm done. or i just continue to proceed w going to the kitchen, and let him cry. He's better now.

huignee u r rite, my hubby discourages me to read the forum coz he said it makes me too gan jiong and kiasu when i read abt other babies... but dat aside, my bigger concern is becoz doc said her devt might be hindered due to her low wt gain, so i dun wish to see that happening... i am worried, so i try to push her.. but i guess it backfires. i must relak more.

the "stupid" piyo piyo cup i was complaining about actually met the requirements of a "good" cup as mentioned above leh. i'm impressed!

SQ: I had a very drama night.. am feeling moody and guilty. coz i wrong move again. yesterday let teng cried a fair bit.. thought will let him be independent.. and he was super needy.. put him sit down only..scream.. made me angrier.. and became harsher..actual fact he fussed coz had wind in the stomch.. uncomfortable.. so cry.. i did it on my son again.. i am feeling very lousy now..
plus one whole list of med and feeding schedule plus food to avoid plus messy med adminstration..
and this straw thingy.. i get even moodier.. coz teng is not yet drinking from the straw.. coz why?.. his mum is lousy..

it's lidat one. with the older folks. i don't stay with my mum, but it's enuf to get on my nerves when she make comments twice a week everytime we meet.
at the end of the day, got to ask ourselves. is it meant for the good of the bb? if yes, then just take it with a pinch of salt. one ear in one ear out. else we will age v fast.

SQ: I burnt his tongue accidentallly.. and of course he screamed.. hands also trembled kind.. sigh. i am really out of sorts now. he's not finishing even a 'small' meal.. as prescribed by the scedule given to me.. cool.. so now.. what? his eyes are alrady dark as panda liao. can't sleep properly.. good opp for him to lose some weight..

Edde: Miser took 'leave;' off morning rushed teng to PD with me.. had the insticnt to tell him to take morning off even before teng merlioned whole feed out in the morning.. but after that rushed back work. i am very sian.. i am seriosuly wondering.. am i that capable in his mind?? minimal support from him at times..
and regarding this mum's issue. me sick of it liao.. let's not talk abt it anymore.. can?

how to teach them to suck the straw? I tried holding a straw on Constance's mouth. She will be wondering what is that and start taping the straw with her mouth. How to get her to suck it?
