Michelle/bbmouse/pax: michelle, ya 40 better bring to KKH cos once abover 39, chances of getting fits is damn high so need to sponge and bring down the temp immediately.
When rae was having high fever that time, her paracentomol dosage was only 2 ml(prescribed by my regular doc/gp) but at KKH, they gave bufren at 4ml (double the amt( and within 1 hour, temp will go down by 1 degrees. Its takes 1 hr for brufen to take effect and for the temp to go down 1 degree.
What AA say is right, to prevent overdosage to bb, alternate between paracetomol and burfen like what AA say 12noon, paracetomol, 4pm, bufen, 8pm paracetomol and 12 midnite bufen. However, the A&E doc also say bufren and paracetomol is independent one, so meaning as long as each set of medication has a minimal interval of 4 hrs each, its ok. i.e. 12 noon paracetol and next dose 4pm paracetomol. if fever don come down at 2pm, u can give bufen at 2pm and 6pm give bufen again.. so indepent and bb takes 2 kinds of fever med. But i find this way a bit risky leh, the alternating between bufen and paracetomol one is better. i scared overdose.
But bufen has a side effect, it causes gastric so i only give if temp dun come down. I hope i am not confusing anyone here with what i typed.
