just smsed wei kuan..she just said she's no internet access at her mum's place, she will keep us posted again on her princess's birth story & photo soon when she's back..her confinement is ending soon in 2 wks' time..i ask her to rest more & take gd care..jia you also..also tell her to give us a ring if she want to talk to us lor..

My baby engaged at last visit, which is 37w5d.
me no worry at all as long as bb come out even on his actuall EDD. but i refer not late than EDD lorl.
yeah...since last 2 week already enjoy my weekend. we usually hav our dinner at home during weekdays. so during weekend, hb will bring me out for a short trip like shop shop, then having our lunch outside. he will let me choose wat i prefer to eat coz he understand tat we cant eat much food during confinement. last week he oso bought me 2 mini snowskin mooncake else his family wont buy & eat snowskin mooncake.
i try to relax myself coz i'm those very stress up myself(zhuan niu jiao jien) ppl lor....

most probably will ask mc frm him after visit.
actually me oso very scare about the pain during the labour, but i try not to think abt it. coz i know myself, the more i think, the more i scare...hehe
hb oredi told me option for epi if i cant endure the pain. he tease me sure i cant endure the pain. hmm.... try my best!! really salute Jo lel...

Hi MTBs,

Been feeling pain in my buttocks area, esp my left buttocks...cant pinpoint exactly the pain but when turn to the right or get up from the bed, will feel the pain. I think it's caused by one of the muscle. My hb has tried to massage my buttocks but the pain is still there. Any remedy? Also, been feeling a pull/stretch on my left abdominal side starting this morning that have not subside till now. Any idea what is it caused by?

Yes, in fact, that is one of the example in the list given. They have a "format" to teach you how to put bb name in the BC, dun worry. Let me see, if I able to find the list tonight (if got time). Then I type out the samples to show you.
You can use tupperware or those white translucent box which indicate can tahan hot temp up to 100 degree. I din use stainless steel or metal type leh. Pour hot water in, the metal will be hot leh. By the way, no need to bring breast pump to hospital one mah cos milk won't flow in so fast, usually is 4th or 5th day (usually discharged le). Unless touchwood, got complications then need to stay longer.
My induction for my No 1 ah, I was induced at 1000am, 12pm+ then start to have contractions, then 2pm+ delivered. Very fast. Yes, at end of week 36.

Gynae will put 2 fingers into your vagina to check during cervix test.

I also tot bb can come out after they engage. But somehow, my gynae is not concerned with whether bb is engaged or not leh, even for my 1st pregnancy leh. He only bothers if bb is low enough for delivery or not. Remembered my 1st pregnancy when I asked him on the engage issue, he told me there's no guarantee that bb won't turn even when bb is engaged, so he told me no need to worry.
The waiting period is very stress, dunno why this round. Maybe cos I have all kinds of symptons bah. Cos 1st pregnancy, bb just popped without any signs.

That pain at the buttock area hor, the only remedy is to "ren". Dunno wat cause it, but I kena in 1st pregnancy.

thks. think i just have to "ren" loh, anyway, less than 2 wks. It's just that when just get up from bed or turn, at that instance, the pain cant tahan...

dun worry too much, 2nd time mummy should have more experience than us, at least know what's coming

juz try to b gentle wif ur movements, it will not aggravate the pain. tts how i try to overcome it.

Endure a little ba..Dr Koh is very pro one..he will do a fast one on the cervix check..hehe..actually I more scared abt the pain aft the labour..like when we discharge..not during the labour..i guess I will monitor the situation accordingly..if needed, I will be on epi lor..

Anyway, for me, even got stitches, the pain isn't that bad. Plus gynae also gave me panadol for pain killers. As panadol is safe, i just take when i feel very sore down there. Relax. Not really that painful. As for csect, got to ask Selina liao. Me can only advise from natural pt of view. Dun worry. Nothing to be afraid about. So far, I can even run ard in the house. hee...

my advice is dun rush into csect. Although waiting for natural is torturing, but I can tell you, it is all worth the wait. I did not regret any bit abt my 14 hours labour. I am very very glad that I have Rhys in normal delivery. Not only good for Rhys, also good for the mummy. Even all my friends and relatives are commenting that I looked good even after delivery coz I can still walk ard a bit, sit up and din feel very painful, as compared to both my SIL who had csect. They have to endure the wound pain and worse is that they have to be very careful abt their wound after discharged. My SIL carried her bb and her bb kicked her wound. In the end, got infection some more. Breastfeeding also extra challenging. So I think natural is still the best ESP. if you can choose to.

So dun rush. you will have all the time to cuddle your bb... but the first thing is to ensure that you are at your best state when bb is born so that you can take care of him right? so endure gal. Think of other things beside csect at the moment. Jia you!!!

My waterbag broke by gynae not pain at all leh. I din even know she did it liao, suddenly all the water all gush out. dun worry, not pain at all. In fact, feels relieve when the waterbag burst. Hee... come to think of it hor, I rem that I had a dream when I am pregnant, dreaming abt my gynae take one stick and burst my waterbag... WAH... really happen leh... haa... scary...

Reasons for my gynae's predictions

Since this is the second time my body will go through naturl delivery, so he predicts it to be a shorter labour and my bb's size is quite small, so shouldn't take too much to oush her out. And why engage only during labour, cos 2nd bb usually engage when labour starts.

2nd time vs 1st time

I do think that the 2nd time prove to be more intimidating than the 1st. Jo. agreed too when we chat yday. Cos 2nd time you'll know what pain you'll go thru so you actually think more abt it even b4 you experience it. So Jo say now she has 2nd tots of having more kids. As for me, the best I can do is to tell myself not to think so much and just tahan when the time comes.

Cervix check

My gynae say he wont do any cervix check for me unless circumstances requires.

Wow, Wei Kuan ending her confinement in 2 wks' time. Maybe by then I have not pop yet.

Just discovered how blur my MIL is. She offered to help me change bed sheet, in the end realise she did not remove the old sheets but just put the new ones over. So in the end I hv to do more work. Remove new ones, then remove old ones and put new ones in...All these little episode just makes me more and more worry abt leaving bb with her.

Aspialle, I'll still be working on Wed and Fri. Find staying at home more tiring. Doing house work more labour intensive than office work. Although my part-time helper comes once a week, I still hv to help cook and wash utensils and sweep the floor and tidy the place daily, so more aches than when in office.

Vivian, how many stitches you have? You're the 1st want to say it's not that painful. So far all told me pain leh.

been following the thread but din really have time to post anything.. but by looking at the chart/list, i should be next cos i'm already 39 wks 6 days as of today. However, cervix check by gynae today and it simply refuse to OPEN even though bb already engaged since 36wk!! arggh!! gynae said usually she wun wait until 41 wk. by then, the bb's poo would be out and not good. so advise me to wait and see how for another wk and if still cervix not open by next tues, induction also no use... will need to go for c-sect.

congrats to those mummies who have pop.. the pixs of the princes and princess are so so cute!!

me quite keen on inducing...but the bursting waterbag put me off....i hoped it will burst on own...it hurts for me...ur BP on the high side...but u are already dilated liao...so not so bad....me hoped i would be dilated too...but cervix check puts me off....

i always heard babies got temper. whent they wan sthg, means they wan it NOW. but since CL still ard, let her handle 1st. once she left, u will hv more than enuff chances to attend to ur little prince. and oso by the way, u muz spend as much time with Rhys, if not more, than the CL. coz bb recognise by smell. if CL attends to him more than u do, he gets used to CL's smell hor, when she leave, u will suffer!!! so try to latch him more often, let him get used to ur smell and he will recognise it.

think u got a high threshold of pain though previously u mentioned u scared of pain! bravo leh.

Crystallized, I'm the kind to tahan pain in silent lor. So hb could not even tell I was in pain. I just concentrate on what the book say can help endure the pain and do it whenever my contractions comes. So I look quite alrite to outsider, but deep inside, I tot I might just die. No tears, but lots of pespiration. Not sure abt this time...Frankly, last time everything just happened, nobody expects me to deliver, so wasn't even in delivery suite so no gas, no injections was only offered panadol while nurse when in search of my gynae who already went off thinking I wont deliver until the next day. So I guess that time I had no choice but endure.

ya.. this is my 1st bb.
currently, my cervix is still tightly closed. she cant even slot one finger in... so gynae was saying that if my cervix still refuse to open by next wk, opt for natural via induction also very hard cos cervix will take a long long time to open? then maybe will also cos distress to bb.. i've got to pray very hard that my cervix will open by this wk... haiii... so disappointing.

but gynae said prefer to wait a while and see how.. now induce also no use (explained above).. very high chance of c-sect even induce now. need at least 2cm dilated then induce will be more effective? anyone knows who induced even before dilating? pls let me know!! i need an ease of mind and some hope!

my gynae left me the option of induction once i reach 37wk..in fact, my baby hasnt engaged yet..so if i want to "walk-in" anytime now to induce, he only advise me to go with epi then induce as norm..only under special cases (like baby distress or waited too long & yet not dilated) then emergency c-sect leh..that's why i was a bit shock when u mentioned that ur gynae wont encourage u for induction even now..in fact, the reason why my gynae suggested if i want to induce then go for epi is becoz he can "stretch" me while i dun have to feel that much pain to be dilated leh..hmm..maybe ur case is diff ba..coz too near to EDD?hmm...ur wedding anniversary is on 1st oct?u r a oct 05 bride ahh?me also leh..keke..mine is 2nd oct 2005..keke..

Got some frens mentioned they r in so much pain tt they hv no energy to shout or scream, better preserve to endure the pain. perhaps u r this type.

hi hi ladies..
i m very angry & upset aft reading an email from my finance manager via my offc webmail services..she actually wants me to go back to work so that she can "discuss with me" betw 2pm-3pm on my appraisal despite tmrw being the start of my annual leave..i dun understand why she's so persistant in completing the appraisal since i m already on leave starting tmrw..even thou Mon & Tue I was on MC & cldnt be able to complete it but we dun have any dateline for this 2nd half yr appraisal till end of the yr..i personally think that she shd at least wait till i gave birth then ask me to go back one of the day aft my confinement to do my appraisal..anyway, i will just "pretend" that i have not read that email & really wish time pass faster for me from now onwards..she's also one of the reason why i had thots of induction earlier..at least i confirmed delivered liao so there's nothing much she can do to make me come back to work..but i will try not to let her affect me esp since i might be less than 2 wks into my EDD..sigh : (

if i remember correctly, u mention that ur co will be bought over by IBM? then even if got a gd appraisal, may not even ensure that u be still in the company. Sorry for being so direct & not trying to pour cold water on u, but that how i felt. Cos my company did retrench staff even the employee has just did her appraisal and her US counterpart has finished their round of retrenchment and thought that Asia Pacific is safe.

my gynae was saying if cervix is too hard, induction will most prob end up in c-section. i think u r really great that u endure all the way to deliver Rhys naturally.

as usual, CTG shows that bb is doing fine. as my bb's movement is back to normal, gynae is not insisting to induce tomor. however, bb's weight still did not increase so i hv to go back this Sat again. she tried to measure several times, but the weight still less than yesterday's!

as of today, bb's head still not engaged yet and cervix still not dilated. Given that my placenta already grade 3 (usually only at 39 week then grade 3 but i'm only 36 week!), this seems to be the cause of not producing nutrients to bb. in other words, most probably bb will not gain much weight by Sat, so 99% chance i'll be induced on Mon. as my cervix already soften, hopefully the induction will be successful. in fact i hope that the dilation will start now, but i still dont feel any contraction.

i found breaking of water bag very painful. it was probably because my contractions were not so intense at that time. Plus i was feeling very tense after realising that bb had irregular heartbeat. Some of my friends who had very intense contractions did not find the breaking of waterbag that pain cos they were already in so much pain.

Don't get too upset.
i can understand that u want to stay away from work and get away from all the stress. But on the other hand, i'm thinking that it may be good to get the appraisal over and done with. Cos if u push it to after your confinement, there are lots of uncertainties after bb is here and you may find it difficult to go back to office to do it. Just my 2 cents worth lah.

For me, i'm trying to finish as much as i can so that i can have a peaceful confinement. that's why i'm chionging so hard now.

Shirlin, I think your gynae's worry is valid. My fren also went for induction in the end it took her 2 days to dilate and the process was traumatising for both Mum and bb. So hopefully your cervix will dilate by next week on it's own. Do some walking and squating and hope it'll help.

Crystallized, the last time cos when they check me I was only 2cm dilated, so they thought I won't go into labour. But who knows, and hour after that intense contraction starts and then within 1+hr, fully dilated and the mid-wife still didn't believe me and refuse to check my cervix just insisted that I need to poo, so made my hb go out and left me alone to poo, in the end I just pop bb out on my own lor. Like I think Koh, I was left alone to cope. And I was literally alone, cos they also made my hb leave the room. I felt so helpless the other time, luckily I read books and manage to pull thru ( I have not completed my antenatal class then so had to depend on my knowledge from books). I think this time hb will not leave the room no matter what they say liao.

Wendy, your boss sounds like my ex-boss. Hmmm, how come these women are less understanding of other women leh? Ignore her lah. Our precious babies are more important.

I agreed with what you said. Cos we know what to expect as we experience it b4, hence will scare more. The 1st time, I just gong gong went in and did what the midwife said. Before I knew what happened, everything was over.
Actually I find stitching part not pain, but is the recovery part.

I think you can go w/o epidural with the way you describe the 1st time delivery. It sounds so painful when you describe it!

Your cervix still not open ah, then better opt for c-section. If not, wait induce le, then cervix still not open, ended with emergency c-section. I know some women, their cervix will not open one. One of my colleagues is like that. So she delivered both her kids via c-section.
My 1st gal, I was induced when I was only 1cm dilated, but then it was becos my BP was on the high side.

BB poo is no good. Heard some BBs will eat their poo. If bb poo inside, gynae will call for emergency c-section cos is risky.

i was the 1st one tt went into Sep thread. Wei Kuan & Vivian went in as well but jenny and Selina din wor... so the trend of the "curse" cant b verified this way.

if ur placenta is not supplying nutrients to ur bb, then better to get bb out. this is a case where there is a need to induce, no choice lor as its safer 4 baby.
