my fil bought the walker for bb but she is too short haha so funny! but she enjoys sitting on it.

dsiitan, thanks for reminder. Nearly forgotten about it. BTW, I have not watched last week's show yet :p Hubby said will most probably try to upload it to the web. Will let you guys know once it is done.

Oh dear, I missed the program again. Cos always Channel U at tat timing. Anyone can fill me in on wat's mentioned in the program regarding walker?

YB
PD said no harm to bb's spine using walker...the main concern is to hv someone ard when bb is in walker cos they may injured themselves like the walker may overturn...they may grab wires...fans...etc (all these ian oso done b4, pulled fan's wire..and whole fan dropped..lucky never hit his head...scoldeed him and he can still smiles at me...)...cos parents always asked will walker hurt the spine bo? the answer is no....

bb sitting in walker like they're having their own world... charlene will run here n there, pull out my light plug, rubbish from the bin, tv buttons, laptop wire, newspaper, etc...

peach
u are welcome..
kao_sticktongue.gif

hope u all enjoy the show..also got info regarding solid food...not badleh...the PD is Dr ong from s'pore child n baby clinic issit? the very nice man but super bz one har? hehee...then the parentcraft consultant is Mrs Wong???

Yar... PD is Dr Ong.. very nice man but always super busy. Must go there prepared with questions otherwise, out u go. His chinese very powerful.. my hubby was impressed.

Haha.. we quite failure in mandarin.. so couldn't catch all the details but roughly could make out what the show was trying to say la.. I don't remember the part about the solid food leh? .. was it at the beginning?

This Dr Ong ah, during consultation speak so fast, like rushing to catch train, if nvr pay attention will miss wat he said. On TV, he speak so slow and steady. I was telling my hubby he very realistic leh, consultation time is money, very precious.

peach
yes...solid food was the begginning...1st half of the show ...

dr ong mentioned teething wont cause fever..then he mentioned to reduce allergy starts solid on/after 6mths...must take fruits...vege/fish...and meat...long term if either one not taking...then will delay the growth (fa yu)...if i remembered correctly...cos they produce different kinds of minerals/vitamins...

hehehe..ya loh...especially he has so many patients outside waiting for him...no choice loh..if not mummies n daddies complain slow..then imaptient babies...hahaha..

dsiitan, ohhhhhhhhhhhh .. haha. i remember about the allergy part.. but i didn't catch the "produce different kinds of minerals/vitamins".. hehe.. my chinese buang.

Next time i must remember to watch the show, keep forgetting. Dr Ong is Joshua's PD.
happy.gif
Poor Joshua has rashes all over his face now, could be food allergy (we gave him sweet potato over the weekend). Poor boy.

ok, maybe i bring some sweets/chocolates.

Hi mummies, care to share with me what is your bb's favourite food so far?? My mum cook fish porridge for my ger but is it too early to start on fish?

I find walker and exersaucer very useful to keep the bb occupied :)) although I know there are some parents who are anti-walker.

lok
did u bring him to PD? last sat brought ian for his hep b jab..the nurse told me 12mths can let ian try abit of egg yok...then after trying for a week or 2...then can let him try egg white....then if ok..try the whole egg...if got allergy reaction (touch wood) then stop for 1-2 week...then introduce all over again...

may
so far...ian dun like porridge..hahaha..maybe bland bah...but he loves jar food..like carrots..and oso apples...sweet i think...

ian loves walker..cos he can roam freely...

dsii,

I'm bringing him this afternoon. He's still happy, gobbling his food.

may,

Joshua has no preference. Anything goes for him. As long as it's not milk

Good morning Mummies,
my BB don't like Jar food so very troublesome for me. Either i bring porridge out or i bring cereal powder. Talking about walker, read from wedpage that it doesn't help BB to "learn" walking. It will slow down their learning process. (Physical) not adviceable to let BB sit too long in walker.

Hey mummies, when you are introducing cereals to your bbs... do you feed water immediately afterwards? or carry on with usual milk feed? like.. introducing only 1 scoop or 2 scoops of cereal...

Hai. so much debate about walkers... think it all depends on babies on progress finally..

my mum said she put me in the walker (think as soon as i could sit cos she doesn't want me putting kristen in a walker any earlier), n i was zooming everywhere like a pro... can run run run n can brake. i ended up walking at 9 months. (i can only dream about kristen walking in 3 months time, now she can't even sit!!!)

my brother on the other hand walked a few months later than i did.. think either 12 or 15 months then he walked. so... my guess is dependent on baby? maybe also cos my brother first born.. so everyone carry him around like king...

Hi dsiitan,

haha...at least he loves jar food. Yum Yum..I have not started my ger on jar food yet..mebbe I should go get it too.

Lok,

Maybe your boy doesnt like the taste of milk. U bf? If not, have u tried other brands of milkpowder?

My fren ever sent me an article from KKH which discourgae bbs on walkers. But my niece and nephew grew up with walkers and they are both athletes today..Hahhaa. But put them in walker not for too long lah.

peach,
my BB have cereal at 4th month. It depend on the consistency of your cereal if your is already watery type then no need water. If thick then give water after finish everything. ( not 1 mouth cereal 1 mouth water).
Try rice with milk cereal first, if no allergy can try other such rice with carrot etc.

may,

He was on BM for 6 mths. Now we're giving him NAN HA. Still the same, milk not his favourite. Semi-solids (apple, broccoli, spinach, carrot, sweet potato)--- he's ok, can finish small bowl.

peach,

Joshua's schedule is like this:
6am: milk (120-150ml)
8am: cereal with 1 scoop FM powder. Feed water after a few scoops of cereal.
10am: milk (120-150ml)
12pm: porridge + fruit
2+pm: milk (120-150ml)
5+pm: milk (120-150ml)
8+pm: milk (120-150ml)
11+pm: milk (120-150ml)
We have yet to replace one milk feed completely with cereal. And also we don't mix the cereal into his milk bottle.

Sandy, good point. hmm need to check how thick the cereal is when my maid does it. it's very hard to coordinate n "check" cos i'm only at my in-laws during the weekdays.. =/ she says better to feed kristen water cos scared she constipated. but i was reading this book to continue milk feed after the cereal.. sian. confused.

lok, you feed ur son fruit in the afternoon? i was thinking of doin it in the evening so i can be there to do it.. hai. but looks like day time maybe better?... sigh. ftwm sucks. i wanna be there to see my girl eat her first foods... all i hear when i get back at her cute stories n
sad.gif

peach,

we usually feed fruits as dessert. I guess it's up to u but some pple will advise to feed new food earlier so that u can monitor for reactions and bring to doc if necessary. I tried to feed my boy milk immediately after cereal and vice versa but he's too full for that. Wasted my EBM! Same here, can't be there to witness all his 1st. Joshua has no problem swallowing, so his cereal is quite thick. And he's very impatient, wanna snatch the spoon and bowl. He toppled the bowl twice already!

peach,

the other reason we don't do it in the evening is becos no time! We pick him up ~7pm, get home 715-730, bathe and it's time to zzzz alr....

Hi peach,

I share your sentiments too. Whenever my mum shares with me details of my ger doing this and that, her new milestone, i wish i was there to see that! Furthermore, at the end of the day, whatever devts bb made you somehow attribute it to the caregiver. Nothing wrong with that though but sometimes just wish I could be there to 'walkthrough' all these with bb. having said that, it's tough being a SAHM too. :))

I'm feeding my gal si sen brown rice w/ ikan bilis mixed with FM. But I feed her in bottle cos it's the fastest. On alternate days, I give her banana cereals mix with plain water. Sometimes she can eat more, sometimes just a few scoops. So far, my gal has no probs with apples, bananas, carrots & sweet potatos.

She hates porridge though...even though I put in veg stock. mayb it's plain. Think will have to start her on porridge a bit later. Sigh...spent so much time cooking her porridge but in the end wasted.

I ever seen a chart in my GP's clinic. It says fish & meat preferably start after 7mth to reduce allergy. For now, it's gd to give bb rice, veg & fruits.

Yesterday tried giving my gal baby biscuits. And she loves it! But have to break into small pieced for her to 'chew'.

Hi Peach,
I give my gal milk immediately after her semi-solid food. Cos she only eat very little. (other than bottle feeding brown rice) Might not be enough for her. But I'll make a bit lesser milk.

HI mummies,

managed to catch the programme on baby yesterday after hb told me...Didnt know Mrs Wong can speak Mandarin...I attended her parentcraft class though I delivered Ryan at Mt E. But no regrets, she is very good. Dr Ong was the speaker for my class for the last lesson. He was good too...didnt know he is very popular.

Walker
As for walker, I think it depends on individual babies. As long as the babies can sit up straight, I think no harm letting him/her sit for a while and know what walker is all about after all precautions have taken into consideration.

Babies Meal
Currently Ryan is having 2 solid meals a day( Fish porridge with vegetables and 3 to 3.5 scoops of cereals with jar food, sometimes will feed water in between), snacktime will be fruits, rest will be FM.

Lok: my boy also drinks about 120-150ml...havent increase yet. Have you change the teat for Joshua? I tried No 3 but then he choke and milk leaked from the side of his mouth so I changed back to No.2 (avent bottles).

BTW, how often do we change the bottle nipples? Understand need to change very 3 months? Is that the practice?

i think depends on indivisual babies..isaac already in walker when he was 3mths old..must used pillows and bolsters to support him..but of cos he cant run abt yet that time..mainly just to let him sit ..when abt 4-5mths...he started to run abt..and he started walker slightly after his 1 yr old birthday...

Hi May,
I got the brown rice from NTUC. Some medical halls also sell it. Cold Storage also have. It's the Moon Rabbit brand (made in s'pore). Buy the canister one. It's instant formula, no need to cook. Those in box-type needs to cook.
