<font color="ff0000">mummies, my gym thingy for 21st jan is for those babies 9mths onwards...not for 6mths old babies..will hv to wait for zita to call and query see if we can form pte trial class bo...

NO JANUARY GATHERING...so 20th jan arrangement cancelled liao...we'll have gathering on feb (MTDT's lovenest) then march at YB's lovenest follow by april at Zita's lovenest....hahahaha ...arrangement ok bo?? temporarily like that lah..any changes or updates then we'll arrange again...</font>

hi everyone,
brought my ger for her 3rd hep B jab this morning, she is 8kg liao! height 70 cm...both 90 percentile.

my ger initially showed no signs of needing solids too, actually at 6 mths it's just introduction to solids slowly to prepare them, let them learn to swallow n in order for them to be more acceptable to other foods in future. they wont eat a lot initially, 2 to 3 teaspoons perhaps so milk shld still be d main source of nutrients.

but it's very fun to see their reaction to new tastes n experience

Hehe... reaction to new taste.. i share with u all something about what my girl did recently.

she was fussing alot one night in her cot, she was on her tummy n rubbing her face on the mattress (usual practice). then my hubby n i spotted her pi-sai come out from her nose.. just above her mouth. then before we had the chance to pluck it away for her... she rub her face once more n she look up at us and made lipsmacking sounds.

her pi-sai was gone n she made it look very delicious. hahahaa.. *peng* it was about 2 weeks ago already n since then i've been so excited about starting her on solides soon.

lovely pic! so do u feed ian solids in his walker? im using it as feeding chair now but gotta keep using my legs to station d walker (cos my hands busy)so gillian wont move abt. still thinking if i shld get a high chair soon...

i dun feed ian with cereal so often leh..so far i think 4 times... initially i feed in his walker..but he so busy move here and there..then my legs have to station the walker till my legs so 'suan'...so the last 2 times...i fed him while he was sitting in stroller...hehehe...

Dsii - pram huh!! good idea leh! why never think of it! haha

OC - the pram is left at my mum's plc leh. so at my own home, i feed him on bumbo. but he dun sit in there for long. :p
petite gals - aiyoh... nevermind lah. got abit of meat better!! nice to hug (like mummy!! haha)

oic, feed in stroller i scared dirty it, mine difficult to clean. same lor, my legs very 'suan' then keep having to pull her back to me.
 
HI mummies,

Have u tried feeding your bb on the high chair? My mum fed my ger on the high chair and she was ok with it. IF not, if your walker has those stopper, better still.

Any suggestions on what other porridge to cook? So far, I've tried potato, sweet potato and next will be carrots. Anyway, old wives tale says not to give too much carrots as the babys skin may turn yellow :p

Btw..what toys do your bbs play with? My ger doesnt seem to like any toys but enjoys listening to nursery rhyme. Or either that watch TV..sigh!

hmmm...dats d thing abt them sometimes, cant sit for long hor. then how u intend to feed him in future if he dun wanna sit in bumbo?

yeah dun give too much carrot. Can try brocolli. Give only the 'flower' part and not the stem. The brocolli will disintegrate in the porride.

I jus rented a jumperoo and my son loves it. Still comtemplating whether to buy it since he loves it. But very ex leh.
 
high chair - i have one old one at home. from my sis. but Zav dun like leh. but he seems to like the high chair from ikea. everytime we go out to a foodcourt, he can sit in there for 1hr!! no fuss at all. buy maybe becos he is busying kpo looking ard.

OC - hahaha.. photocopy meh?? dun look like my hubby at all meh??

but generally i notice gals will progress faster too.

gal progress faster in speech.. I let my BB watch " Your BB can read" he laugh and touch his head &amp; ear when the VCD play the song " Head &amp; should , Kneel &amp; Toes"

wow..its gd that your girl progresses fast. Mine rarely flips and when she does, she will make noise. She doesnt sit too. Haha...

Sorry if the question sounds stupid; but what is your reason for not introducing TV to bb? My MIL was quite worried too when my mum allows my ger to watch TV. I try to moderate it.

Anyway, for mummies who let their bb watch TV, my advise is to make sure that you are there to watch the TV with your bb and interact with him/her. I've read and seen undesirable bb's devt when he/she is watching too much TV on his own.

only selective show i alone my BB to watch. I bought all BB program like "Baby Bright" ( teach color, size &amp; shape ) &amp; "Your Baby can read" ( teach BB to reach". Full Volume.
I started when he only 3 mth. His concentration not bad..
He also love to book that got different type of frabic. " Baby Touch Book".

It is time to start liao.. I a bit Kia Shu

there are some studies that says early exposure to TV will cause attention problem when they grow up. becos tv images moves too fast. so they will get use to it. i am trying to delay to at lesat 2yrs old.

at their young age, then flicking effect on tv also not good for their eyes. (thinks PC monitor as well, i dun like him to stare at it)
also i dun wan my bb to be a tv addict next time.

but think hv to be v v selective to wat they watch....

I feed my gal in pram. Slightly lowered her seat so she can swallow better. I belt her up so she can't move around...heehee. I wanna let her know tat during feeding time, have to sit down lor (gd eating manners)...dun wan her to have the impression tat she can run around next time &amp; still b fed. No..no for me.

It's true tat we can't feed out bb too much carrots. Cos carrots contain betacarotene (dunno correct spelling or not). Will make the skin turn slightly yellow. Same for adults too. I think every food also have to feed in moderation.

Toys:
Currently, I let my gal play wif play gym, roll around on the mat, sing songs to her. Today, I just started teaching her bb signs. Watch the DVDs together. The songs very catchy.
 
sandy - it's true. only allow baby programs i suppose. n try to limit to 30mins a day.

i hv frens tat hv to introduce for practical reasons... like when they cooking or bathing etc. if not really no free time. :p

but since my boy in infantcare - they dun hv tv. then at home, the timing is short, so i feel dun need to let him watch lah.

My gal still have probs sitting alone. She'll fall sideways, front &amp; back.
 
YB - same as u. wan to train him tat meal times are meal times.

no running ard... no watching tv (although me n hubby always watch tv n eat ourselves! hhaha)

but really difficult to get his attention.
or maybe he dun like my porridge too.

at my mum's plc he can finish 1.5bowls. i cook myself on sunday.. he can hardly finish 1 bowl. no give face!! hahaha :p

Tks for the info. Yes, moderation is the word. The starter vcd for 'My bb can read' is not bad too. FOr mummies who like nursery rhyme, u can buy the CD from mothercare call "Sing Along". My bb loves it ..even the mummy and daddy love it too.
 


I think Ikea's high chair is a good buy. Cheaper too. Cos it's in plastic, easy to wipe down after feeding. Make sure u lay newspaper around the highchair during feeding. Then after tat, just throw away. Simple &amp; easy.
