hello mummies.. taking abt school today ah.. i also have something to contribute... heeheee..

Today is the Meet-the-Parents/teachers session, brought E to school. They call it the Children's Dy Out Program here, and it offered by churches.

Surprisingly he walked right into his class without any resistance, machiam like own hse like that. Started to play with toys ard without pple offering. Officially he will start school next tuesday from 9-2pm, every tuesday, wednesday and thursday. They dun have 5 days for 2yr old one. I think he seems to be one of the youngest, as he is borned in July and school's intake is for kids who turn 2 by September. He also look more small size compared to the caucasian kids. Though he looks harmless, but E cannot sit still one lor.. I think the teachers is gonna hav a hard time pinning him down... and plus I realise he seems pretty stubborn and bad tempered... we were joking abt maybe E will be sent home after 1 week cos teachers cannot handle him.

For the school here, parents wil have a list of supply list which includes items like paper towels, anti-bacterial spray, tissue paper, crayons, markers, watercolours, hand soap, baby wipes and anti-bacterial wipes...etc I think SIN no need to provide all these one right? Hubby was grumbling why we still have to buy all these when we already paid $100 for supply fee.. beats me man.. but looks like the system is like that here. Also have to bring own lunch which is very headache for me, must think of things that can pack and won't turn bad by lunch time. Snacks is privided though. Parents can volunteer to help out every month too, I thot it sounds quite fun and give me a chance to see what E does in school. But I dunno if I can cope as now already tummy so big and when meimei is out, dunno if I can handle.

Also feel very ganjiong abt him starting school next week. Machiam like I first day of school like that. Scared he kena bully, bitten, fall down lah.. etc Hubby scared got gunman go to the school.. haizz.. cos we see too much american news liao.. so abit stressed abt it too. Just got to cross out fingers and hope everything will be fine and E will be in safe hands.

hong, E is also baby talking most of the time, also abt 20-30% using words nia. But just ike that already veyr noisy to me lor... I wonder what is going to happen when he can really speak. But of course hopefully he can learn to express himself better when he attend school.

Dsii, good to hear that Issac is well now...

Hong,

Shaws Katong is at 855 Mountbatten Road. Amanda will send Gerrard to school. He will take school bus bag. Hopefully he can sit "still" on the way back. I am more worried if they can't keep him "still" on the way back then him getting tired on the way back.

Both of us work in Jurong/Tuas area. So if I fetch Gerrard to school, he will reach by 6am, which is impossible. So amanda send her to school instead as her timing at work is more flexible.

We have already paid for the deposit at Shaws. But I can't remember how much is it...Hahaha. Must wait for amanda at night to reply on that. In fact, I can't remember how much for Kinderland now also.

Hong,
Quite near leh. (When you fold the map together, hahaha)

Its been almost 3 years. Daily traveling time is anything from half an hour to 1 hour, depending on traffic condition.

zita,
did u cut V's hair?

liverpool, Dsii,
very far to me. Althot my hubby works in Kranji but my place is quite central so ok.

liverpool,
u fold the world map lah. Every part of the world is just a foot step away. chey... hahaha..

ep,

Hong, have not seriously think of which pri sch to sent her to..Mayb Punggol Pri, Rivervale Pri or if possible Nan Chiau :p

lala

yap...gerrard confirm goin to shaws on 2oct 2008
school fees is $725 per month after subsidy
kinderland sch fees is $555 after subsidy

Hong
if i drive him tio school in the morning, think the journey will only take 20min. as for the sch bus, understand that there are only 10 students including gerrard be taking the bus, of which got 2(2students) are siblings, so not too bad, the whole journey will only take 45mins

Shaws seem to have lots of activity plan for kids age 4. so at that time will probably let him go full day...

Shaws got comp class, speech and drama(eng and chinese), swimming etc...

so if u want ur kids to learn, just pay for the class, the teachers will bring them(optional)

cross my fingers Gerrard can adapt to the school

hong

3 years ago, we only have one car, so poor me, will reach wk place at 7.30 at times if hubby need to wk early

but now better, if no jam. take only 35mins to reach jurong, so not too bad

Amanda,
OIC. Wah 2 cars leh. hahaha...
Yah from PR to my place is ard 20mins. 45mins journey home is still ok. Ur kid will enjoy the ride.

Lala, dsii,
my mum wanna change due to char sudden says teacher beat her and she like lost interest in that school, seems like develop abit of phobia whenever we wanna bring her to school, keep shaking her head. Also the school holiday is 4 weeks. too long, another one is only 2 weeks.

lala, yah lor.. I think the supply fee that I paid for is for other stuff de... maybe teaching materials that kinda thing. Like I go gymboree arts class, also have to pay supply fee every month, for those papers, paints and etc... I asked them about warming the food up. They say they can do it, but its better to give cold lunches like sandwiches as the microwave area will hav alot of pple that time, might delay his lunch time.

btw lala, hows ur pregnancy coming along? I can't wait to give birth lor!

dsii, they dun really have a half day or full time kinda session here. its more like depends on what they offer. Some offers from 9-12pm, 9-3pm or 9-2pm.. so far this is what i saw.

For mummies who send their kids to CC or PG, can ur child sit still during class? or will wonder around? E is still in the cannot sit still stage, dunno how he is going to behave in class. So far I brought him to Gymboree classes, he cannot follow instruction one lor, do own thing, explore on his own. how does the teacher in SIN handle this kinda case ah? let them wander? Abit worried leh.

Dsii, E likes to aim for pple's snacks when his is finish. Today he knock down a little girl's snack and make the girl cry lor. Haiz.. really abit worried abt sending him to school.

MY,

K also cannot sit still when he started CC. He will run in and out of the class and all over school. His report slip every week is "he cannot sit still..." But the teachers have trained him to sit still when he needs to over time. Now he knows he needs to sit and listen during story time, etc. Then once teacher say he can go play, he will run amok again. hahaha.

Dun worry, E will learn with time and thru his peers too. And I believe the American teachers are more tolerant of kids moving around in the class.

MY - Emerson always get teased by principals, teachers and auntie that his backside has thorns.. that prevents him from seating down. He cant sit still even during lunch time. one teacher will try to coax him to sit with the class, if he resist, they will just let him be, but on and off they will keep asking him to join them. He will depends on mood. So far, feedback from teachers that despite that Emerson still learns...

Jul and PM: Phewww.. at least I'm not alone. I see this ang mo kids can sit still one lor and follow instructions.. and always wonder what's the problem with my child?! Hopefully he'll learn in school.

I realise my hubby is still not very sure abt sending E to school. He scare that E will kena bully and he is too young for school.
sad.gif
I told him, as parents we'll forever be worrying for him at different stages of his life. Even when he is 30 yrs old, we'll still be worrying one lor.

YOur hubby is not very sure abt Sending E to sch.. my hubby is all hands up for sch but unsure abt Nanny.. Sigh.

Yah, I believe over time, they will 're adapt' and follow suit, whenever need to sit, they will sit.

Now E will auto clasp his fist togther and say "Thank you for our food..blah blah blah.. Yum yum yum" when we have our meals...

Pm, so cute of E to do the clasping of hand!

As for hubby, I just hope everything will turn out well when E starts school. Cos some mums actually feel that the best thing they have done for their toddler is to send them to school. I hope we can feel that way too.

Noticed that Shaw child care is in discussion - is it good?

I just placed my son in a neighbour childcare near my in-law. I went for the first session and was totally devastated.. First is the teacher English pronunciation: Instead of "brinjor" she say "brinjoy", "milk" say "mek", "bread" say "bead". Than the colour part is so boring, ask student to colour one by one. Than she ask them to colour "brinjoy" 8 times and because only have 3 purple colour pencil, so only 3 children gets to colour. By the time the 3 finish colouring, time for lunch, so the other 4 children dun get to colour. Just sit and wait...

at first wanted to put him in a montesorri in woodlands but because think too much so give up that space.. now regretted..

or anyone knows any good childcare around yishun or woodlands area? I dun mind going abit out. Checked Little Skool house at Orchid country club but it's filled up, even next year is on waiting list.
