(2006/07) JULY 2006 MTB

Mummies,
check with you ...
In my estate, there is a good montessori. Morning programs include Eng, Math and Chinese and for afternoon, there is project work like cookery, knowing about geography, etc... I can't bear to put my girl in full day CC, so if is half day, morning or afternoon better? I am thinking of getting C in this school only from N2.

lala,
why not u sign up half day. If u see C is benefiting from it and she is ok with the school then convert to full day.

Hong,
We were at Pine Garden last Sat evening also :p Went to Botak Jones, so popby Pine Garden to get some cakes too..U bring yr 2 kids to SK swimming pool lah..they wil sure njoy it :p

hong

Hong,
good idea, start off with half day 1st and see how

Eeyore,
It is Joy Montessori. They have only 2 centres, one in Tampiness and one in Sembawang. The morning program is more academic and the prinicpal prides herself that the kids will def have no prob transitting to P1 if stays with her till K2. Afternoon, will be more fun loh ...

lala
maybe u can check wif the sch if they allow ur ger to attend 3 days morning & 2 days afternoon perhaps? i know of one montessori sch in my estate which allows that. Their montessori prog is in the aftn while the more acad eng, mandarin segments r in the morning.

amanda
i'm ok wif this sun but if u wanna postpone, oso can...but i will b away for a few weeks in sept for hol so might miss the sep round. can always meet up again another time...no problem!

KLCC,
raining so heavily on weekends that we didnt go anywhere. Hubby wanted to go Malacca last min, couldnt get a hotel. Then change to Jb, cant get the hotel as well. We thot to bring the kids to Sentosa but bad weather.

We went to the Philip Sale but nothing much so asked hubby to bring me to Pine Garden. I bought their white lotus mooncake to try. Just a small one and Janelle finished all by herself.

I realised she ate alot recently. We brot the kids out last nite. The kids have their dinner. They went out with us and we had dinner at pastamania. Ordered bake rice, pizza etc. She shared my bake rice, took half of the 7" pizza all by herself. I teased her that she will become a fatty soon if she eat that way.

Hong,
ya..raining heavily over the weekend..we also wanted to check out the Philips sale but last min my hb's BIL & Family pop down from malaysia..so brougth them the the swimming pool in the am when the weather is still fine..then proceed to Tampines IKEA & Giant..v tiring Sun

Hi Cheri,
okie, I will check with the school then.

Hong,
Maybe Janelle is going to shoot up in height soon?? I rem my sister was eating alot like that then suddenly grew tall.

lala,
I hope so.

klcc,
wat do u wanna get? They are selling 42" LCD TV for $1299. Hubby very tempted but I didnt let him get it.

I thou of getting their Fan(not sure they still carry fan or not)..their LCD TV so cheap!! I like their cordless phone too..
Cel also eating a lot now..she measure at 23kg and 115am few weeks ago..really fatty bom bom ger le :p Jan leh??

KLCC,
Jan is 21kg and abt 110cm.
WOW, Cel grows so much taller. Cel is tall, so still ok.

I didnt see the fan, they are selling their TV, computer monitor, electrical appliances. Yah their cordless phone is good.

U wanna get those standing fan or the ceiling fan?

lala,

my gal is with the Tampines branch, on half day.
If I recall correctly, the nap time is about 2 hrs (including preparation and wash up), so effective play/learning time is quite limited if you do choose half day (afternoon).

In the morning, there are circle time and learning sessions. I don't know the detailed timetable but I think the programmes are rotated from Mon-Fri. 1 day Chinese, 1 day English, 1 day Practical Life.
But I agree that afternoon is probably more fun with more Practical Life.

Hi Willows,
I see, then morning is good. I called the school just now, put on waitlist no. 24.
sad.gif
Apparently, the curriculum of the school is good from feedbacks of parents. The principal says Mon to Thu, there will be 2 academic subjects per day, ie Eng and Maths or Maths & Chinese or Eng & Chinese. On Fri, will have either arts, music and movement. Afternoon CC will include cultural subjects like History, Sci, Geo or cookery.

wow #24. It could be quite a wait. Are you looking to start her asap? think u mentioned in earlier post that you want to start in N2?

For PG, at least for the Tampines side, they stagger the intake of new child so they can help the previous one to settle down first.

Willows,
I am starting my girl for N2, so put on waitlist now. Has enrolled C with Apple tree for next year N1. Apple tree at my mum's place has only N1, thus thereafter, have to search for other schools. I am conisdering between Little Skoolhouse and Joy. Btw, is the curriculum tough in Joy? Your gal enjoys hereself in sch?

She is also a Jul06 baby so she is in playgroup.... just started in late Jul08. She can't really talk in sentences yet so can't probe more from her. First month only, so don't know about the "curriculum". Still in settling down phase. Anyway, PG is more for play and social development rather than academic so can't really comment too.

For the initial 1 week or so, she cried and resisted when she goes there in the morning and when I pick her up after lunch. 3 weeks later, she is ok with going there (says bye bye to us) but hasn't really integrated and also not started playing/mixing with her little friends yet.

But she nods her head when I ask her whether she likes school... so I suppose she is happy now and that's most important.

Talk about schools...I'm so excited...finally found a playgroup near my mom's place that Arin can join!

She'll be starting school on 2 Sep and although the school allows the parent to sit in for the first few days, my mom thinks it's better for her to be with Arin than me cos she is more clingy to me. But I also watch to catch Arin's first day at school leh...sigh.

happy.gif
yes and I was worried about how long the resistance was going to last. Maybe she realised that her crying is futile.
Then she became ok overnight. Now hope that she will mix around soon.

Thanks to the mummies here for suggestions earlier... I psycho psycho her. haha

CHM,
for me, it was the other way round. She is super clingy and "ah bo" to my mum and dad. I refused to let them near the centre or tell them the address until she settled down.

Willows,
Glad your girl enjoys school.

CHM,
I think is good that your mum goes in with Arin, but grandma usually will be more "xin ruan" when grand-daughter cries.

MTDT,

She's with a playgroup run by Adriot education. It's not really a school lah, i just use the term loosely...it's the RC premise at Kim Tian.

Willows,
My mom says Arin is always very kuai when I am not around one. She will sit quietly and down her puzzles and colouring ..it's only when I'm around then she will want me to sit with her, play with her, etc.

Lala,
Actually my mom found it amusing....She brought Arin to see the school and one of the bigger kids tried to drag Arin into the class with them and Arin was crying 'no, no', cos the boy was a bit rough and my mom v bad...she said she laugh and laugh...

wow..all mummies getting excited ..me too...but i think will be more excited when the day is nearer..hehehe..maciam like going for birth labour..nearer then gan cheong...ian will start on 2 jan 2009...they will hv ard 30mins tea break..and needs to bring own snacks...wonder if ian will finish wat i gove him bo? or he wants other kids's snacks..that day brought himto the sch..he disturbed other kids..somemore is k1-k2 leh..piangz..when the kids queued up to for for toilet breaks/wash hands b4 snacks...teacher was holding his hands and the older kids were behind him maciam like the tu tu train..hands on his shoulders..and he was happily walking to the clas...hahahah..so cute loh

Dsii,
C will start on 5 Jan. By then, I will be gan cheong too .... feeling the excitement even when thinking of that.

CHM,
At least your mum is the easy type, my mum was so sad to see my girl cried the last time I put her in Little Skoolhouse at 21 months. I pulled her out after a week ... haiz

lala....ahaha...really then think we 2 will become gan cheong spider of yr 2009..hahaha

does C's sch allow sit in? ian's sch only 1st 3 days..but the teacher said if ian seems ok then can go off earlier..like maybe 1st day sit in full day (3hrs)..then 2nd day maybe 30mins~1hr...then 3rd day maybe just leave n go...they will call us to 'report' to us time to time..so we dun get too worried...

YB - My heart goes out for ya! *hugs*

Sending over lots of quick healing vibes to all toddlers who are not feeling well.

Really no time to read all the posts. Wah, now that G2 is more alert and more clingy (I guess it runs in the family) and G1 is status quo, I am 200% busy. No time for anything else.

Planning to send G1 to 1/2 day N1 next year too.

Oophs, got to run now. G2 woke-up...BF time once again.

JP,
Jia you!

Dsii, lala,
I am also sending Julian to N1 next year. Hopefully he will do better than Janelle, but the 1st 2 days are usually shorter.

Hi Mummies

think we change the timing of gathering to another date then

lala

my neighbour daughter is also going to Joy but is the one at tamp. she's all thumbs up for dat school. i did enquire about the school also but they only have vacancy for full day, so in the end will send gerarrd to Shaws

Dsii

i register for Gerrard to study at Shalom at first next year but drop the idea as they will be close on school holidays.

my sis's 2 kids are studying the pm session(11.30-2pm) she say the school is very good and fees very resonable, $510 per term i think

so where is smart juniors?

amanda
smart juniors at blk 716..opp the fish farm here..walking distance from my blk...for n1 is $450/term...n2-k2 will be 540/term..ian's class will be from 830am-1130am..

so this sunday bo bbq???

Dsii,
Same, C's school allows parents to sit in for 3 days. I think Ian will be very well loh, he is such a brave boy.

Hong,
that includes Venice as well ... she is also starting school next year
happy.gif
Our kids are the latest liao ...

Amanda,
Yep, many parents give good feedbacks of the school and waitlist is long. Which school is Gerrard in now?

Gerrard is now is still in Kinderland (Opposite Expo). However as Kinderland is converting to ONLY Full day programme, we are switching him to Shaws (near KATONG area) from 1 OCT onwards.

We thought about putting him at SHALOM(which is more economically) but SHALOM is not open during school holidays.

wah...really tiring for gerrard leh..travel so far...how many hrs from PR to katong? then wat time will the bus be here to fetch him??

Liverpool,
I agree with Dsii, really quite far. Can't find other good school nearer your place?
Already I am quite concern for Charisse to take school bus from Sembawang to Yishun. Btw, is Gerrard going to be on half day CC in Shaw too? How much per month?

lala,
my side dun have good playgroup. Dun worry, Janelle also start class at 3yo and she is also one of the few that start school late but she catch up very fast.

I am a bit worry for Julian cos he still like baby talking. Hopefully he will improve after attending school.

Amanda,
I thot u wanna let Gerrad try the school at Mountbatten? Not going anymore?

Liverpool,
U are very gangho leh. Fetching the kid to and fro. Where is ur workplace? Which part of spore?

Hong / Dsii,
Most girls will pick up speech faster.... Think Gerrard is taking school bus home but morning, parent will send him to Shaws.

aiyo..last time iz at this age can speak well liao..in fact at this stage, i already asked iz to 'shut up' hahahaa
