do they give u back the balance of the time left if u change to biometric pp? jedd has a biometric pp.. i need to update his picture leh.. dunno can be done or not.. u used his lalang hair in his pp.

Biometric Passports were only introduced in Aug 15 2006. Anything before that I assume you can still update your child picture.

It did not state in their website about updating kids/babys passport whose picture no longer looks the same.

However should you renew a passport before your expiry date, it will only carried maximum extendsion of 9mths. Meaning to say, ur passport is vaild for 5yrs and 9mths.

YB - In the morn, I will wake E up let him have milk then change him while he's drinking. When I'm not working, I usu will wake him up abt 8.10-8.20am to be in sch by 9.00am so that he eats abit of breakfast there.
CC's breakfast quite pathetic, so better let Kay drink so milk first.

Things to bring:
Diapers (4 pcs)
2 set of clothes (E's CC 2 showers)
plastic bag
towel
Communcation book
Water bottle

Willows - It takes time.. Slowly they will get used to it... Mayb u shorten the hrs first and gradually increase.

hi willows,

maybe u want to try to know her sch teachers or classmates better, like their names etc? For me, it helps when i tell my ger who are her frens are, her teachers etc etc. So she is familiar and assured that these people are gonna be with her for half a day, play with her etc etc.

YB,
I will usually bathe my ger in the morning so that she is more alert and refresh. Unlike she wakes up late which is rarely the case. Yes, one milk feed before sch would be gd :)

Willow, think like wat the rest said..is a norm for the kids to cry..mine takes almost 3 weeks to settle dn in Playgroup..
day 1 : happily go school..cried in the midst of class cos realise muumy not rd
day 2 : cry the moment near school
day 3 : cry till vomitted
day 4 : refuse to wear uniform, throw uniform once my mum tried to put on for her
day 5 : cry & refuse to wear uni, wear home clothes to school..
and these cont almost 2+ weeks..now she even yayapapaya, will say bye bye to my mum & dash inside the classroom..
So give yr ger sometime..sure can one

Hi Mummies,
Today Kay's 1st day in CC. I was around from 8am till 1030am. Left when Kay was distracted by the gym play.

basically from 8-9am, it's absolutely chaos! Cos waiting for all kids to come in & everyone mingle around incl older kids & younger kids. Bfast starts at 830am but need to take turns to eat cos dining area is small. Kay didn't take a single bite of the sandwiches wif jam & cup of milk. So she simply survived on her FM (half dfinished)which she took before I brought her to sch. Lunch is supposed to be 1130am, so I'm going to chk it out later.

This 2 days, supervisor instructed teachers not to conduct lessons cos of the new students. So will be free play for 2 days.

YB,

Things we pack for Joshua's full day CC:
Diapers (4 pcs)
3 set of clothes
2-3 plastic bags for soiled clothings
1 towel
Communcation book
Water bottle (keep in school)
bedsheet and blanket (to be changed once a week)
Milk powder tin(leave in school)
1 toothbrush and mug (leave in school)

J will have his milk around 7am + 1 slice of cheese. Then freeplay in CC until breakfast is served at 8.30am. Thereafter, curriculum starts.

eeyore,

I'm interested in music lesson at Mandeville. J is still very much into music and think he can better appreciate it by April.

Btw, J also had the same Barney cake for his CC b'day celebration. But I think the design quite badly done. Bengawan's disney printed cake looks so much better. And happy belated b'day to Char!

klcc
heheh so is ur ger wearing her sch uni to sch nowadays? N's cc has no uni, i'm actually thankful for that, or else sure stress how to force her to wear the uni. Minus point is i hv to think of wat clothes to let her wear to sch everyday...cannot be too pretty or ex clothes cos will kena stains yet i dun wan her to be too shabbily dressed.

yb
N will wake at 7.30 am & have her milk at home b4 my hb sends her to sch. She will eat the bf there. They serve bf till 8.45 am & lessons start at 9 am.

no lessons at all when new students come? N's cc still continued lessons as usual wif parents ard. Actually good for me as i could observe wat & how the teachers teach. Also learnt some songs which she'll be singing in sch so i sang them wif her at home.

no lessons at all? then they hv new kids every week, means everyweek, 2days just free play? so weird :p

toothbrush - so cute tat the CC helps to brush the kids teeth. :p

Morning,

Klcc,
u send Cel to a church kindy right. What is the name? Can I have some feedback? Cos my sister wanna find out for her son.

Charlene so cute, I dun know will Julian able to do it when come to his turn next yr.

YB,
i think morning can be quite chaotic especially when new kids joining. How is Kay responding? Janelle still only has milk for breakfast.

Cheri,
I prefer uniform, so i dun have to worry abt wat to dress the kid in the morning.

Mummies,
can i check if u feed ur tod with half-boiled egg?

dsii,
cos i dun know is it good to give them. The kids only have it on weekends when we bring them downstair for breakfast. I usually order 2, if Janelle can finish else I will take one. Now Julian n Jan will take one each. Instead of using the spoon, Julian will follow Jan. Lift the saucer and sip the eggs like drinking soup.

Went to pick Kay up at 1230pm. When I reached there, Kay had already finished her lunch & munching on her apple while the rest of her classmates are drinking milk & preparing for nap.

Teacher told me Kay finished 1 bowl of porridge & asked for 2nd serving. She cried intermitently when she remembers I'm not around.

Kay cried when I picked her up & went to hug me tightly. But very soon, she's happily chewing on her apple & telling me kor kor & jie jie are all 'or-or'. She even went to 1 mattress & lay there, telling me she wanna slp there too. When we left, She happily say 'bye bye, see you tomorrow' to all her teachers & friends. Even ran back to the CC door while we're walking towards the bus stop. I had to drag her away...I asked her if she's happy & if she wanna go to sch again, she said 'yes'.

However, I noticed that there were alot of kids sniffing & coughing away wif mucus running down their noses. There was 1 particular gal in Kay's class that constantly had runny nose. The teachers didn't wipe away her mucus even though it's been there for the past 1hr. I couldn't stand it & told the gal to take tissue paper to wipe it off. The gal ran to take a pc of tissue paper & passed it to me. I asked her if she knows how to wipe her nose, she said no. So no choice, I gotta help her wipe her nose.

Also noticed that most of the teachers are from China & they speak mandarin most of the time...Hmm...

YB,
Look like Kay is doing very well.
My personal view on China teachers - as long as they are teaching Chinese. I think that is great cos their chinese will be much more better.

Yah, I heard the supervisor telling the teachers no lesson for these 2 days cos Kay is on trial & another gal is quite new..kept crying & sticking to the teacher, hugging her leg wherever she goes.

Basically today, there's free play wif the toys & gym play. Anyway, Kay can't stay in the class too long. She's fanscinated wif the plc & will wander around from class to class. When she heard 1 class singing, she even wanna join in. Supervisor says they allow new kids to wander & explore around so they can be familiar wif the environment.

Hong,
My hb dun allow me to give Kay half boiled egg. Cos he said not fully cook, scare got bacteria.

Yes, morn is really chaotic. Esp the kids who cried the loudest are the 'old birds'. There was even 1 boy who collapse on the flr & start wailing & kicking away. All the students just look at him.

YB - U mean chinese teacher from china also teach english?

E's sch breakfast is served as and when. Ie when e children comes will eat and go, thus will have space all the while, kitchen will closed at 9am where they will hv their lessons.

FOr lunch, they eat at staggered hrs. The younger ones eat at 11.30, older children eat at 12.30. Dinner likewise.

Perhaps the gal is having sensitive nose - not contagious. Yah I also notice the children mucus will not be wiped. Happen at E's sch and E himself too.

Kay is such a clever gal to ask for 2nd serving. Cry intermitely is normal and better than non stop ones..
happy.gif

Hong - Never tried the eggs on Emerson yet. He's not really a egg person.

cheri, ya she wear her uni to school now, i also prefer to hv uni, no need to crack my brain wat to wear :p
Hong, Cel is in Nativity Church..the one opp punggol park.
YB, K adaptability is so high..good for u
happy.gif

YB,

hurray for K's first day...she seems to be adapted well. Me hoh, can forget about sending Arin to daily playgroup liao, the 2 around my mom's place all full house...sob sob...

YB,

U mean they don't have Eng teachers? Then the curriculum in Eng or Chinese? J's form teacher is also a PRC. Like what hong said, I don't mind as long as she's speaking proper mandarin and not broken english. In fact, she is the only who is teaching J mandarin (none of us speaks to him in Mandarin).

klcc
nativity hv cc?? i tot only N1? and have to be 30mths then can start. my neighbour's gal is on the waiting list like forever.

MT
josh's N2 school ratio is 2 students to 1 teacher!!! (afternoon sessions not popular, morning session very full) Hard to find thats y i drive 20mins daily to his sch. they can tell me his habits n how to be firm with him.
but the N1 has 9kids.. so if i send jedd there, will be 10 kids to 1 teacher n 1 helper. there is a student whose grandma has been following him to class since january. sit in from start to finish. suppose to be for 1 week.. but now july still there.

jedd also had a barney cake.. dsii can email me the cake pics ? thks ah!!

Hi Hong,

my parents gave my ger half-boiled egg regularly last year and she had a bad case of bacteria infection; we suspected it was becos of the eggs. So i dun suggest u give the tots yet :)

Lok,
Dunno leh..cos today no lesson. So I dunno if the PRC teacher is teaching eng or not. Will chk wif the supervisor on Mon.

Bfast is served from 830am - 9am. All the kids will gather in an area where a philipino teacher will read story books to them. But as more children arrive, they started getting very rowdy so the teacher ended up on High-5 DVD for them. Then the auntie will prepare bfast & call selective students to take turns to eat. I'm not sure how she decides who gets to eat 1st. Cos even though Kay came to sch at 8am, she didn't get to eat until 9am. Some kids brought their bfast to sch while some come in just before 9am. It's just very messy lor. I'll definitely enquire the supervisor when I see her on Mon.

wow...shower for iz issssss soooooooooo troublesome....must prepare him(wrap the cast lah..for 15mins..then can shower...piangz...

Aiyo, dsii, very easy de leh. My both hand fracture before, I am a expert in this field. I broke my right arm during sec 1, left finger during sec 4, left arm when gerrard was born.

U just take 1 normal market plastic bag, ask issac to put his whole hand in, and tied at the end can liao. When he bath, just ask him to raise up his fracture arm, remember, water flow downwards.

I am sure you are helping him in bathing now, so it would be so much easier. I use to bath on my own with this technique. Got some areas of the body must use abit of "stunt here and there to reach with one hand lah. Hard to explain here, he will understand n think of ways, trust me.

YB,
Most of the kids arrive at sch at 9am...even though on paper it says that prog starts at 9, i think they still let the kids who come in eat their bfast.

Kay did well for her first day!

There's no free play for K when he joined. They just continue with normal timetable. Mornings are quite organised too...one or 2 teachers will get the older students to sit down and revise their work. So always hear them reciting some chinese stuff. But i think for K's class they just run into their room and play....:p

Oh, just went gyn in the afternoon...my girl very comfy inside...put on CTG (coz weight dropped) no contractions but a lot of movement from her.

Asked my gyn how? She say if I want to induce, can do it tom! Then I was a bit shocked, not prepared... so say I'll wait. Then Hb asked if 8 Aug very popular? My gyn already has 2 csect and 1 induction that day. Nurse say she hrd already have 46 bookings to date!!! and that's only for csect and inductions...those natural and emergency ones not counted yet...and there's another week to go...so sure got a lot more. TMC so small....sure not enough bed space....

So, we are going to see her again on wed if I still dun pop by then and prob induce on wed/thurs. sigh....

thanks mummies for sharing and suggestions. will try them.
today, she's better. cried at the door.
we tried to motivate her by telling her will bring her to park tomorrow.

but she's starting to be a bit more sticky.

I don't dare to give her half boiled eggs yet.

May,
thanks for the eggs feedback. Actually, I monitored Julian after he took it. So far so good. No outbreak or diarrhea, so i guess once a week is ok.

Klcc,
Can i have more feedback on that kindy?

ep, KLcc,
Janelle school never really give them homework. Shld I start worrying?

hong
no need homework la!! cos i took josh away from sch. didnt want him to be left behind tats y ask teacher to give me his homework.. homework will start in K1 or K2

klcc
yr durians were VERY VERY gd leh.. can order again? no hurry..

anyone can remember how much it cost to remove wisdom tooth? need to get mine removed.

my hb took josh away on 2D1N trip to ubin without me n jedd.. (bet he wld not feed josh). now 7th mth n still go there.. sigh!! was PEACE on sat.. n jedd got all the attention from me.. so different when having just only 1 child.

Jul - Popular dates are very dangerous. Gianna decided to make her entrance on the 18th and don't know why that date was very popular. So, its was FULL HOUSE and thank goodness we had a room.

JP,
Ya. so we trying to siam the crowd... my gyn was joking that we can sleep in her office...hahaha.

cottagefry,
paiseh, was in a rush coz K grumpy, so wasn't paying attention.

Hi ep,

If yours is normal extraction, it should be under $200 including consulation. But if its surgery, may have to pay up to $900. I did mine at National dental centre by Dr Raymond Peck. He's highly recommnded by many. I went to the dentist at compass point and he told me must do surgery etc etc. BUt when i visited Dr Peck, he removed it effortlessly and very little pain even after the extraction. U can consider :)

Ep,
I also removed my 4 wisdom teeth at National Dental Center years ago. Can use Medisave to claim, so end up I only paid less than $50 incl painkillers.

Mummies,
Wanna seek some advice. I've talked with the CC supervisor this morn abt the PRC teaching the children in Kay's class. She said 2 of the teachers left & they're still recruiting for new teachers. 2 candidates supposed to come for interview last fri, but both didn't turn up.

SO currently although there are 2 teachers handling 14 kids, one is PRC teacher, another is actually the SIL of the owner who is untrained in early childhood but just stand in to help out before the CC recruit new teachers. So eng lesson is actually being conducted by the SIL.

Supervisor told me this arrangement will hold for the next 2mths until new teachers come in.

Now, if u r me will u still continue to let Kay attended the CC?

YB,

I think if your main purpose is to let Kay play and socialise with other kids, then this temporary arrangement is fine. I guess as long as the SIL don;t teach the tots bad english, I won;t be too concerned too.

YB,
I agree with CHM totally. In any case, there wont be any academic learning now, mainly playing, singing etc. So you shouldnt be too bothered unless there are other peripheral concerns.

YB,
Guess there's no impending impact on Kay right now since she is also adjusting to CC.

Maybe you can make assessment of the quality of teachers from observing the other classes and her Chinese teacher. Other factors like the environment and mgmt of the CC is also impt. You must be comfortable with how things are run and how Kay is taken care of.
