(2006/06) June 2006 MTB

mspiggy,

saw you mentioned about flat foot so I just share here.... when S was about 18-19months, he walked in a very funny way... hard to describe... but later we brought him to dr terence tan who told us that tods at this age normally have flatter foot. Looks like flat foot that's why he din walk that straight. Even if the child really have flat foot, can only really diagnose when they are 2-3 year old i think (hope I din remember wrongly). Bottomline is cant conclude at this age.

poohy, are you at JG Forum on Sat? there is a bookfair on Sat - i am interested in the Chinese Reader Set D. Can you take a look when you are there - how many pages are there in total? The wordings seemed ok for our kids' age. If it's good, I will order via mail.

Let me know k?

Poohy,
thanks so much for sharing! coz i thought Wes's feet look quite flat now. at least am happy to know that it's normal for this age.

hubby's uncle kept insisting Wes is having flat foot.. arrgggghhhhh! *angry*

toto,

I am there on sunday morning. Is the book fair still on? If yes, I will take a look at it that day. Is it held by JG itself? How do u know abt it?

mspiggy,

Mspiggy/Poohy : Thanks for sharing on flat foot...my nanny keeps insisting R is having that too. His foot do look flat what he is standing but i can see an arch when he is not... just tot they are just too fleshy now thats y.

Spicegal,
My hubby has flat foot too. Yea, the little ones feet will be fully 'formed' only around 3 yo. Now, have to make sure they wear suitable shoes and exercise often.
happy.gif
I also read that quite a lot of tots look like they have flat feet but it is too early to tell still.

Mummies, looks like we would just have to wait and see...3 YO...1.5 years more to go.
happy.gif

Poohy : can share where did you get winter clothings for J. I cant seem to find any thermal wear for R's size.

yeah we can only wait and see.

Joyfulmom, ya hope tat she will not be flat footed like her father. Not only that, sometimes Jerica's foot will turn in while walking, like my sister, so she tend to fall quite easily. Hope its only temporary.

mspiggy: ok, didnt know they have it there. Thank.

re..flat foot, i do notice my R tires easily and always want us to carry him after walking for max. 10 to 15 mins..Is this sign of FF?

Mich : I have just added my name to the Sea Birdnest List. I will tt you payment tonight. Can you also direct me to your BP for the Tee and Lounge Set. I wan to tt together. Thanks.

Some info:
http://www.babyworld.co.uk/features/Feet/feetproblems.htm

Flat feet
Toddlers tend to walk flat-footed with a waddling gait until around three years old when they start using the heel-toe step. 'At around two when a child is becoming more active, the foot matures and the arch starts to develop,' explains Diana Canning, chiropodist and chairperson of the Foot Health Council. 'However if flat-footedness persists beyond six or seven, see a chiropodist for advice.'

In-toeing and out-toeing
Walking with the toes facing inwards (pigeon-toed) or outwards can make your child trip up more. Most cases will correct themselves as your child becomes a more confident walker but seek advice from your health visitor or GP if the problem persists, especially if it only seems to affect one foot. 'Something that's very evident should be checked out, if only for your own peace of mind,' says Diana.

jacque,

I got thermal long john for J at winter time and baby gap. For jackets and outerwear, I got from gap and ebay. Puffer jackets from zara.

For outerwear for v cold country, Lemmis Fashion (vivo and paragon) sell jackets with sizes suitable for our tods ... can withstand to -40degree celius.

spicegal,

my S also... last time he used to walk abit in-toe, keep tripping also. his daddy got flat foot, that's why I thought something wrong with his bones so brought him to dr terence tan lor. It corrected itself after awhile.

Poohy, r u intending another cold vacation? I'm wondering what to do with my kids' thermals and gloves... kids outgrow so quickly leh!

raerae - Jshoppers can order direct and will send to ur home direct too. But to hv FOC Shipping, need to order at least 12000yen.

Poohy, ya Jerica sometimes also walked with a bit of tip toe. We thought she is just trying to be funny. Hope it will correct as she grows up.

Joyfulmom, thanks for sharing the info on flat feet and in-toeing and out-toeing. Very informative.

Mich,
Is artbootcamp still on? If yes, please remove Chelsia from the list as she will not be attending.

Also, I have to give First playschool a miss this weekend too. My schedule is overly packed liao. Sorry!

morning mummies - just went to the bank to change hong bao money... arrggg... long queue...

poohy - i saw some leafets left on the shelf on JG - outside the kitchen area, near the receptionist area. I am interested in the little reader set of 10 - the chinese words seemed easy enought for J, if it is too hard, he will switch off. his patience for reading mandarin is not as good as english. with english books, he can sit thru longer stories with more words. even the ridby rocket series, the higher levels are too simple for him... ke ke...

even the mandarin books that Chen Laoshi gives out in class is quite difficult, and i cannot read some words myself... chiam.... i need tution liao...

mummies - any suggestions where i can buy good mandarin story books, with maybe one to two lines per book, less than 20 words per page, 8 pages?

pawprint,

I kept all their winter stuff in the lugguage... if end of this year or next, we dun go another winter vacation, likely I will sell them end of this year when everyone is looking for winter clothing again. I love winter countries but a bit feel like seeing autumn in France or going to USA end of this year.

duffy,

I saw the ELC easel... I had looked for easels in many places including melissa and doug but i think the ELC one is one of the best. I like it... and plans to buy for S for his 3rd birthday.

toto,

there are bookfairs down basement of forums occassionally and they do have pretty suitable readers. If the bookfair is on sunday, I will keep a look out for you
happy.gif
what is the online address? or how do we order online?

poohy, the bookfair should be at JG - i am aware of the bookfairs downstairs, they often have them during weekdays when J was at playnest. this particular bookfair that i am talking abt is a JG bookfair, and is only on Sat. the brochure is not with me - there is no online address - it's mail order only. you can collect the brochure on Sunday, but it will be after the fair liao. so cannot physically see the books.

PP : your mum makes it too ??? u lucky girl u !
where can we buy the ingredients from ? it's slice and then deep fry issit ? i'm going to tell my mum that all mummies make it, and insist that she do too :pPP
