Ivy, I lived through TWO upgradings, one more than a decade ago at mum's old flat, another last year at our first marital flat.

Buy plastic sheets from hardware store, the kind that covers whole king-size bed type. And cover up all ur windows (if corridor unit), and main door. Basically cannot open windows at all. And buy those brush-strip from hardware store to stick under ur maindoor to prevent dust from coming through the gap.

I found the first time was no hardship, but 2nd time round with BABY... very tough leh.

Crayola - ya v ex leh. :p in popular also hv other brands tat state there non toxic... maybe can use those? for eg: 8 crayons from Crayola is $10. 8 crayons from popular is only $3 leh. :p

Pawprint - WOW!! Irvin is soooo cute and MESSY in the pics!! hahhaha :p

saw ELC sawing a big bottle for either $4 or 6.. another one at the forum basement at $7 but not sure if washable, just say paint.

MTDT, agree that crayola is very expensive. Recently Tokomama has a spree on crayola products, price slightly cheaper then outside. I have ordered a few crayons from her.

TWO upgradings! This is my first one and caught unprepared.....How about if install aircond, still need plastic sheets? Want to build in some storage, do windows etc, etc...dont knwo when is good timing...

Joy, though no experience of upgrading before, but i heard its really quite messy and dusty, sorry to say, air con also does not help much leh.

You referring to kids mall at IMM is it? No kiddy palace in IMM. ;p

buy from popular, they have small bottles pack of 3, about half size of the usual bottle. Only thing is where to pour out the glue.... hmmm either throw or pour into another container and keep for art & craft session, like stick pieces of colour paper, cotton wool, newspaper etc..

hmm ur upgrading doesn't include change of windows, waterproofing of toilets, change of toilet tiles and toilet bowl etc?

aircon helps somewhat, cos windows all closed, no ventilation leh. But u'd need to service the aircon more often because of the dust.

I advise doing reno after upgrading done, instead of before. Just take those things that HDB give, easier on the pocket! Then add whatever else later, on own expense?

Pawprint, so aircon does help a bit har, sorry Joy, wrong information given by my friends. But if to on air-con for 24hours non-stop, electricity bills should be quite hefty right?

Upgrading only do lift...no other stuff..."interim something, something.." IUP? Hmph...need aircond...bo bian....other things...aiyo...don't know how...thought want to get things done a couple of months after CNY next year (coz dont want to fight with others who is rushing for Christmas, CNY)...running out of storage space etc. My last reno was 5 yrs ago...and that time, didnt plan for the hugh storage requirement resulting from having addition of kid + parents....

I will be SAHM in Dec...hope to have more fun with her. Poor her, have been clinging to me before I leave for work every morning. And at night, refuse to sleep though very tired already...want more time with her "mama".

hahaha, i'm doing renos for my new place, and frankly, STILL CAN'T cater to the HIGH storage requirements of the kids. :p

hmm if only lift, that's unfamilar to me, ours were full-scale lift and all. If lift only, close windows, switch on aircon, can dampen the noise. Problem is there's usually only one lift left working, and sometimes workers will insist on using that, on top of all the other irate residents. I once shouted at a lift-load of foreign workers... that time carried kid, so heavy liao, wait so long and they still dare to try squeeze in the cramped lift! After that they recognised me and siam me :p .

I can rec my contractor lor... quite reasonably priced among my comparisons.

so if factor in the collection time/transport cost, maybe not worth it after all. wait for JL sale - grab them!!! :p

Actually hor, I don't know how it is gonna to be like. My mom's ears are sensitive to loud noise. She even have cotton balls stuck to her ears when she comes to my church because of the loud music! lol. Think have to find places nearby that they can take breaks to...besides moving them to my sis's place which is way too far for us with no car... you know, our lift is super slow...getting to level 10 takes more than 30 seconds! Sometimes one breakdown, then all have to queue for the only one left. One time, the other one refused to move down coz the faulty lift is still deem to be in operation. Then, hubby have to run up to level 10 to press the button to get it down for me and G and pram etc...* Pant, pant*

Tokomama: if you buy a few items then quite a bit of savings lah. I compared the prices with toyrus and kids mall already.

Pawprint, you stay at Jurong West is it? Tokomama also stay there, so quite convenient for you to pick up leh. Dun have to post in her forum, just email her and she will reply you.

Any website to view home decor/design that you would recommend? Ones that with designs and stuff that is more likely to be achievable locally? lol.....or one on storage ideas. ..gotto spend within a budget..I am looking at some design websites and have to stop...way too mind boggling for me....me really a design idiot..:p Hubby no better..that is why our home is really boring..:p And of course, not enough Vit-M.

MTDT, you use camera or hp to take those video shots ah, colours very bright. My Sony Cybershot T10 takes nice photos but the video mode sucks, much of the colour is drained and the video turn out greyish.

Busybuddies trial looks happening.
 


spicy, i took with camera... mine is the panosonic lumix cam.

busybuddies - tats only the freeplay time. once actual class starts, i dun hv time to take pics already.
