Haiz..

hb oso complains on facing us ones.. he thinks xuanting likes to look outside more than us.. n so he prefers both sides one.. =p

Read from somewhere that it is not recommended for baby to face the outside.. cant remember the exact reason though.. thats why i prefer the ergo carrier..

Koalarie, getting the maid is really no choice. Sigh long story anyway, i felt is waste to get the maid. she is having a better life than me, i slog like shit at work while she can slp at 9pm and take naps.

Going out alone with Isaac, no prob for me as long as he dont cry to slp. hahaha. one haversack with all his stuffs and a sling will do for me :p

i think my boy dont really like the sling as much, so thking changing to carrier. but i'm so afraid he rejects the carrier.

Maraquan,
really envy you, cos bb only recognise u. But, oso tough for you too, cos u have to handle bb alone.
mom_yam,
me too, wish to be a SAHM. Now my bb take care by my MIL, mostly everyweek i going back malaysia to see her, quite tiring for me to go back every week, but worth it when i can see my bb gal.
Sometimes quite angry with my gal too, cos when i carry her, she will cry. When my MIL take over, then she stop. I would rather she only recognise me, like Maraquan's bb. Really worried one day when i going back, bb dont want me liao. sob...sob...

Talk abt maid, my blood boils. She also has better life than me as I didnt let her take care of baby. Even sterilising, I do it myself.

I think baby carrier is good choice, my boy loves the closeness when i carry him in front of me. I use baby bjorn.

koalarie
now i using MIM but J is getting too heavy (7kg) for 1 shoulder to bear the weight. e sling u considering looks good leh but for the sleeping position look like must use hand to support. then cannot be hands free like MIM liao.

tiffany
i used baby bjorn at times for short distance eg go neighbourhood NTUC. Dun use for long distance travel coz it has very thick padding so J feels hot hot. also can't lie down when sleeping so when sleeping J become 1 lump with neck falling forward to the chest. although J still sleep like nobody's biz but i see already cannot tahan leh. but the distribution of weight is much better.

nursing shawl
anyone know where to buy cheap and nice nursing shawl?

maid
although i am WFHM but just back to work for 2 wks only and J already seems to be closer to the maid than me!! last time will look and me and smile but now look away but will smile at the maid. so sad.

tiffany
i have a baby bjorn carrier. my husband likes to use it to carry our girl. i don't think we could have lived without it for the 1st 2 mths, it was our "lifesaver", she would fall asleep within 5 minutes of being put inside it! it was also v good for me to bring her out by myself, cos then i would have 2 hands free for diaper bag, shopping bags etc etc. after the 1st 2 mths, her head was quite steady so we now put her in facing outside and she enjoys that but she won't sleep in it anymore. now, i find it's good for short walks or trips to supermarket but if i'm going shopping or out for a meal, we prefer to take the pram. also, the one we have is for use up to 10kg and it's already getting v snug for my girl.

mei lim, me also!!! My boy also laugh with her and play with her. sob sob...... sometimes my boy wants her to carry to slp instead of me. wow liao i really want to take a knife and poke myself.

Tiffany, i kw what u mean. u kw I have to cook her dinner too... hiaz! but i dt employ, my mil cant handle and i have more problem at home. In order not to quarrel with my hb that's why have to employ one. :S

Mrs HO, guess we really have to be patient. U very poor thing lei, got to go in every week is very tough and tiring. Guess for bbs good life in futre, we really have no choice.

Mom_Yam
Same. I hired the maid to help my MIL. Does your maid carry your boy? Maid from Indo or philippines? How's her work?

Sama sama lah... hb never do housechores... only know how to mess up!

Tiff,
I took the longer break because I know I will be so caught up w the work when I return. Infact, wanna take till Jan 2007 but big boss gave me a long stare as I had went back last Sept after a one-year break too...kekeke...

Abt slings...
I have tried Bond, MIM and BBaysupplies. Still find the material of the BBaysupplies more comfortable but dun you find it heavier? Have left the other 2 to be used by maid as they are soiled easily.

Mom_yam, dun worry abt that. It's just a passing phase. My Isaac was like that back then. Now he communicates w me well and is not sticky to me also. At least, he is more sociable. Infact, it is so fortunate to have more people loving your children.

Babe, I am using the pigeon ones now. Used to get the Avent extra soft series but still find it too hard.

Talking abt maids...my maid has body odour and I have to resort to getting her talcum and asking her to change her T-shirts more often. She's carrying my son more than I do because I have history of back injury and can't carry too long.
Is there any other alternatives?

hi all, i ever emailed the person in charge of ergo carrier.. u can actually rent the ergo carrier before deciding if u wanna buy. Cos it isn't cheap to get ergo.. and they also have head support (they call it insert) for baby who's neck's not strong.. but the person in charge advised me to use it when baby's neck strong enough to support..

I'm using baby Bjorn.. it is very comfortable but as baby grow bigger.. will be rather squeeze for them..

Amy
I changed maid bcoz she has bad body odour too. It was a pity that i have to trsf her as her house work was really gd and she was responsible enuff to help save water and electricity. I tried giving her deodorant, make her bath more and change clothes more often. It does help, but at times, she still smells when she perspire lei... no choice, replaced her after 1+mths... Now i regret!

Good maids are hard to come by. As long as you can bear with it... try to improve her. Agent asked me to let her rub some lime on her armpit, but i didnt. How to tell her to do it?? can hurt her pride!

hunniepot - your address for tmr's flash card lesson pls.

mom_yam - i have decided to take over more duties from the maid to build back the bond. guess i slack for the past 2 weeks s got to work. now aft 6pm, i will b the one changing his diapers, washing him up for bedtime etc.

Anyone encounter that bond with BB not so strong aft switching to bottle? But I still latch on at night leh but I guess not much interaction as he uses it as pacifier to go to sleep.

Jumbo
Ur bbbjorn which model? Got mommies offering me 2nd hand ones.. hb quite like it.. but not sure if worth 2 buy as 2nd hand still nd ard $70!

mel lim,
I've only used MIM sling using the craddle position. The rest I not tried. Especially the snuggle position.. scared Xuanting doesn't like.

Hunniepot, got not good meh?? I see the babybjorn like not bad n mayb even better than ergo. Dunno.. still hesitated to get btw babybjorn n combi. Got mommy offered me infantino as well.

Re: Maids
I oso thought of getting one b4.. but really dunno where to put her up. Juz need her to do housework whether my mom's place or my place.. the most important thing is to load us of thoughts of housework and concentrate on baby. But, really not cheap, I think.

Got tax and insurance and maid's monthly salary, right? Then when maid going to return, must pay for her air ticket, right?

So, that time got a PTM to help.. but that PTM plays me out. She without giving me much warnings, tell me she's not coming in becoz her mother was in operations... but hor, she was also another mommy's PTM n she told her much earlier but oso last minute n reason was the same as well.. why give me last minute notice!

Now I got to do everything myself lo.

Re: Teats
Hmmm.. 6 weeks.. wow.. that's really fast le. She's now 3months and I've only changed from 0-6 months to 6months above NUK teats in her 2nd month.

koalarie, must check if any stain and torn on the carrier or not.. and check the clip too.. bjorn and ergo has their own pro and cons lor.. bjorn design nicer than ergo but limit to weight 10kg only while ergo and withstand.. think 15kg so bah.. but i dun think u still wanna use it when baby weighed 15kg.. no energy to carry liao.. keke.. i tried infantino before.. very troublesome to put it on.. so many point.. and quite lost.. although bjorn got 6 points to click.. but it is quite clear cut.. perhaps u can go mothercare and ask the sales girl to try on u and baby if it fits or not.. this is wat i did.. cost retail price $170 leh.. not cheap lor..

jumbo, can let me know where to rent the ergo carrier?? see whether my boy likes it before i invest.

Mei lim, all these while i do the changing and bathing when my bb is back, that's why is very good life. esp weekends i basically handle my bb alone but still...... sobs hiaz no wonder they say become a mama very tough.

Koalarie, ya.. maid very expensive. NOt coz' my hb too good life since young. I wont want to employ maid. but long term wise maid would be good.

Tiffany, have pm you already

Hmm.. for those of you who are coming to my place tomorrow for the flash cards session.. pls pm me if I have yet to give you my address and contact no...

koalarie, mine is bjorn original.

mom_yam, this is extracted from my email

bb stick to MIL:
hmmm...this make me very worried. As MIL did tell me that those child taking care by her will very stick to her. Like my SIL's child, already 4 years old...still need to sleep with her. The worst is, when the child wake up nv see his "Ah Ma", he will cry like whole house collaps. Never see "Ah Ma" wont stop crying.
Pray god, my gal gal be good girl, can stick to anyone...

who has hunniepot's address for tmr's flash card class pls PM me.

Have not recd from her and need to shut down liao.

pls help.

koalarie
i have the original baby bjorn. i find the fabric ok but if i had to choose (mine was a gift), i think i would go for the active, looks like it's better for our weather here. i remember when i took my bb out after 1 hr last time, her back seemed rather hot. but frankly, if your bb now is around 7kg (and chubby type) it might not be a gd investment cos it'll be quite snug. like now, i don't use it as much already cos i find that it's a bit squeezy around K's tummy and thighs.

pacifiers
anyone using pacifiers? my girl doesn't really use hers that much but i'm thinking of encouraging her to use it for comfort sucking instead of suckling on me in between day feeds! which do you think is a worse habit, pacifiers (i see kids who are like 3-4yrs old still sucking away, really dun want her to be like that!) or constantly needing to suckle on mommy?? (also quite bad right, cos then she can't be away from me)

BB carrier
mui66
thanks for advice. That's our concern too, u noe. Xuanting's now ard 6kg. So thinking of not getting a new set. Else really waste of $.

Pacifiers
Mui66
Personally think pacifiers really save our lives.
Xuanting oso dun really like to take pacifier, but it has come in handy to put her to sleep.
In fact, I would rather her take pacifier than taking thumb or finger or her whole fist after the incident of rash breakout on her face.

My mom said can train bb when to and when not to take pacifier one.. so dun worry too much. And in fact, the book i mentioned did mention that pacifier is good as it lets mommy to rest instead of having always to give breast to bb to suck for comfort.

BB carrier,
I am also thinking to get Baby Bjorn which is easlier to use than sling... haiz, till now still dun really know how to use MIM sling. My bb quite small in size so i think should be okay for him.

Pacifier,
My bb also dun like to use but sometime when he is cranky and tired, pacifier actually can make him feel better and zzz faster too. He will spilt it out when in deep sleep.

aiyo...this thread move so fast.
finding it difficult to catch up leh...
mother of 2 very siong arh...
esp mine are 3 months n 21 months old
both attention seeking leh

Bonding
dear mummies, from my expereince, babies will have little/no memory who take care of them when they are below 1 1/2 yrs old.

my Yeason (kor kor) was taken care by myself alone from 0-4months (on 3 mth maternity + 1 month annual leave). After that, i put him with nanny but bring home every night. very siong!!! but luckily hubby help wif housework. Got PTM to help with cleaning toilets, mopping and ironing once a week. so no housework for me (heng arh...)
we tar bao dinner almost every day. I BF till Yeason is about 9 months, but wean off breast at 3.5months when i go back to work.

At 18 months, i got a maid and my parents moved in to stay wif me. After 2 weeks, he got no memory of caregiver. so mommies out there, dun worry, when ur child is older and can start to recognise you, then u spend quality time wif them. No prob ok.
happy.gif

Maid

I also just recently got a maid (from Apr 06). She is a transferred maid. got 6 years of expereince. Cannot complain lah. At least can understand English. do most of my housework, including sterilising bottles. With my mum as "supervisor" at home, no problem so far.
my principle: "out of sight, out of mind". Maybe mother of 2 more chin cai lor. if u insist on everthing, yourself kang kor only. lower standard a bit and spend quality time with my children. that's my motto lor. But no compromise on hygiene lah. my maid "dettol" the children room everyday, change their bedsheets pillow case etc every 2 days and wash soft toys once a week. plus she also cook dinner everyday and do household chores. Sometimes, i will purposely tar bao so she can rest.
She workaholic one leh. always sleep at 12 MN when i told her to go to bed at 10pm. Next morning up at 6.30am. more super than me!!!

Agree that got go maid, dun let go.
i give my maid a lot of freedom, but she very tze dong one, never abuse lor.

i of cos hv my fair share of complain lah, and muz make her scared of me. but also tell her, if she perform, got increment, bonus and annual leave (can encash somemore). so she very on the ball one lor.

milk supply
these 2 days milk supply dipping. maybe cos i stressed up. elder one got running nose. very menja. feel very sorry for younger one cos only my mum and my maid attend to him. haiz...feel like torn between 2 lovers. My HB last on d list liao. any mother of 2 in this thread? can share some experience?

BB carrier
keen to rent the ERGO carrier leh. was thinking of getting HB to give elder 1 piggy back. he on Maclaren Quest, but sometimes prefers to be carried....

Bumbo
dun dare to let my BB try. Super Kiasu. cos scared tt if BB neck cannot support, will hamper growth/development....

pacifier
better to give than suckle breast!!!
imagine 1 yr old child lift ur shirt at supermarket asking for neh neh. shame shame lar.
embarrassed.gif

anyway, i now trying to wean Yeason off pacifier.
he only take it during bedtime.
biggrin.gif

aiyo...time to feed di di...

Hi Elle,

Your posting is so funny ya, I read and laughed ya.

Yes I'm mother of 2 two. My son is 4yrs old, bb Jamie is 3 mth old.

Maid
Cant live without her. She is the main caregiver to my bb as I need to work. Somemore I don't have back up, mother in M'sia, in laws overseas, so very jialat type. Just have to trust her. With this new bb, I gave her increment of $120. Hari raya got 1 mth bonus. Day off is once every 2 mths. She has been with me for 3 years. She also cook on weekdays. I also more cincai, told her priority is bb, if no time to mop floor, tomorrow also can, I just close 1 eye so long she treats bb well. But she really dotes on my girl
463588.gif
I'm considered lucky.

Milk supply
strangely after going back to work the ms goes up. So I pump ard 1250ml a day, 5 times, 2 times in office. I'm using PIS advance.

Bonding
My mum took care of my boy for 18 mth, when she left and my maid took over, son did not look for her. So I fully agreed with Elle, they cant recall who their caregiver was, so dun need to feel quilty ya.

i now have the silicone avent one that's for 0-3mths, do i have to change to the 3-6mths one? what's the diff? is it the size/shape? i honestly can't really tell from looking at it thru the packaging.

Hunniepot & miu,

mandy
thanks for the compliment too!
happy.gif
She's TBF so not sure what amount she drinks. sometimes when we give her a bottle of EBM, she drinks abt 120ml? think she's got her daddy's genes cos he's pretty big-sized.

i sleep quite late everynight! although i love spending time with bb, it just seems like after she sleeps at night is the only time i have some 'quiet time' to myself and with hubby.

Mandy
Your girl so stylo.
kao_happy.gif
Her eyebrows quite thick. Next time grow up to be a beauty like Lin Chin Hsia?
happy.gif

Abt maids...
I have phobia abt them. Ever had to report her for child abuse to my Isaac at KK Hospital. I ended up taking one year leave to look after him.
Yup...agreed. If maid is good, have to learnt to tolerate. Get a bad one, then life will be so miserable.
sad.gif

Hmm...my bb when sit on bumbo will arch her neck back not like u guys bb can sit upuright. Why huh? Izzit neck not strong yet?

Mum's allowance
Used to give her $400 then now put bb there thinking of topping up $300 then total like aloth...was thinking give total $600 but my mum ask y the change of mine. Hiaz..

Babe,

I think maybe your girl's neck is not strong enough. My girl will not arch back but she will drop her head in front. Also not strong enough.

Miu66,
My girl also using the Avent pacifier for 0-3 mths. Have not change. Same here, not sure what is the different. Anyone can advice?

tracy
i bought the Avent 3-6mths pacifier today but haven't tried it on her yet. it's definitely bigger, the shape looks similar, will let you know how it goes. actually, i wanted to buy the NUK orthodontic pacifier cos i read that it's good for the gums but it wasn't available at Guardian. has anyone tried that?

Hi ladies

happy.gif

Miu,

I see, guess no one know how much she drinks ya, wink wink ; )

I expressed since day one so I can monitor her intake, average is abt 900ml a day. Since I have a lot of frozen milk, have been adding into son's milk too, hopefull he can get some antibodies from it.

Amy,
Mum asked me to shave her eyebrow so tt it can grow thicker, have any of you try it? Her lashes are rather long, but heard if we cut, it will be longer, any comments?

Babe,

I tried Bumbo in TMC, it was quite tight guess not getting it since it's quite ex

Pacifier
My girl doesn't really like pacifier so hardly give it to her lei...

Hunniepot,
Thx for arranging and coordinating all these activities for us, really appreciate your help
464098.gif

Yeah, hubby just touched down!! Can pak toh liao
464099.gif
But tomorrow maid's day off, so we have to babysit Jamie, luckily my mum is ard, heehee

Hunniepot, thank you so much for the co-ordination is really helpful.

is really enjoyable to see so many babies today and this is my very 1st time together with my bb being with so many moms & bbs. is really very different and glad that i can make it.

hey, something to share i was reading young parent - Baby. there this article that caught my eyes that i would like to share. is gog to be quite lengthy.

"Some working parents come home form work only to find that Baby bursts into tears when put in their arms. Says Boh Boi: I've had mums tell me," i feel that the baby is out to get me. Every time she sees me she cries." this is usually made worse when the caregiver, eg a grandparent or domestic helper pts out that the bb is as good as gold all day.

"I alw assure them that the bb is merely crying to tell mum that she missed her. She cant speak yet so she cries. Comfort the bb instead of handling her back to the caregvier. Tell the BB: is ok, mummy's home.

Then spend a bit of quiet quality time with the bb. Handling the bb back to the caregiver can make her feel detached from you and the bb may cry louder. It also encourages her to find an alternativ attachment to her caregiver instead of bonding with you.

xxxxxxxxxx

i hope the above article help any of mom face the same prob as me ;)

I find the young parents - baby information quite good, they touch on topics on the carrier & how she express herself.

Rach, did i see u today??? hmmmmmm................. i forgot to find u today lei or i actually accidentally talks to u w/o realising hahaha....

so sorry, i'm so engross with so many bbs hee hee...
