Yah, it's that cheap. I also saw it in Japan and it's quite expensive. But it's also not $80 lah. $80 is way too ex already. I was tempted to buy but my hb said that it's not so good coz the train moves very slowly to detect the markings. And i saw a demo set too. Very very slow. Better to buy those with normal tracks.

I just cut my boy's hair too. hahah, and it looks disastrous. Like i cupped a bowl on his head to cut. Oh well, it'll grow back. No choice coz he doesn't like to cut his hair, so i could only cut during his bath time and can also aga aga.

Ya, wear some nice clips lor, or a nice hair band. Mine is a boy, so bo bian have to show his ugly hair.

Mommies,
The bday bash is just a week away and a number of mommies have backed out last min due to other commitment. Given the tight budget we are working on, it seems unlikely that we will be able to proceed with the bash based on current $20 per head we have worked on earlier. The committee has originally worked on the assumption of closer to 45 people but looks like the attendance may drop to 30 - 35 next Sat. Also we don't think is fair to ask the remaining people to top up the difference.
we know CNY is round the corner and most of us are busy at work given it’s the start of the year. In that case, shall we postpone the bash to after CNY to 1 Mar (this is the only date the venue is avialable)
We can’t cancel the bash now as Mamachan has paid deposit and Cookie has bought some items for the party pack. Can I appeal to mommies to try to make an effort to join the bash (and also not to back out last min as it makes planning very difficult)?
It has been a while since we have a gathering. I think is a good opportunity for everyone to catch up and see how the babies have grown over the year.
Kindly indicate if you are OK with the new date on 1st March. Thanks!

hmm, wonder who's the distributor in S'pore. If it was displayed in AMK HUb, it should be sold somewhere. Maybe try Toys R Us in Singapore? The bigger branches? Didn't see it at Vivocity though. Or Takashimaya?

If you're getting the normal mat, then probably it's still worth it. Have not seen it here before. But don't find it worth the $ for the Thomas The Train one.

JH so far hasn't ordered the helper ard though we have her since he was born. prob cos no old folks ard? and my parents dun do that with their maids too. nowadays he even start to call her kaka (jie jie) which he pick up in church.

today JH sick. think he caught flu bug. lucky not serious. only slight fever and doc din give him any antibiotics also. but this means i got to keep him at home for one or two days.

just went for my checkup. my bb dun wan to let me see boy or gal. the legs exactly blocking. even though bb moved, the legs still just move up and down and block the most impt part...but gynae said cannot tell then got higher chance is gal..keeping my fingers crossed

my weight remained the same since start of pregnancy. quite bad. got some medicine to aid digestion. hope it will help.

Err..charmaine commands everyone so she doesn't differentiate that it's maid and therefore servant. I think by nature, she's really the bossy type... she will say "daddy come" "mummy sleep on bed" when she wants me to nurse her on the bed...

I have hte thomas train aquadoodle. I bought it for charmaine as xmas present when we were in australia. She loved it. It's real interesting. there's this tool that you can used to draw tracks and the train will follow the track.

I think the thomas train set that you saw in amk hub is not the aquadoodle set as I have yet to see aquadoodle toys in Singapore. If it's aquadoodle, then it's a very, very, very good buy cos even a small travel aquadoodle pad that I bought for charmaine in australia set me back by S$20.

Oh u have that? I chose Thomas the Train bcos of the track and the roller. The red mat seems boring as it only have a pen. So I dun mind paying abit more.

Thanks. I 'ren ming' liao...antibiotics finishing tomor and last night still had to rely on panadol at 7pm and 1am. Woke up at 5am, jus took panadol again at 7am. Shall see wat my gynae says later.

Elijah at one stage keeps called the maid by name and i scolded him many times and finally i realise tat he doesn't do it any more and he calls her aunty . Actually they do learn jsut tat we must repeatly remind him.

i also lack of sleep. yesterday, JH woke up at 5am and i realised he got fever. gave him med but he cannot sleep. asked for milk at 6am, then vomitted out his milk. after that, so awake that he cried when i wanted him to sleep. in the end we played until 7+ then brought him to see doc. last night, woke up continuously and kept calling for me. even when i sleep beside him, he still thinks i m not ard. then in the end, today also woke up at 6am and refused to go back to sleep. and today cannot take leave..

I was given another course of Augmentin from the ENT but I decided not to start on it yet till approval from gynae.

Oh dear, hope JH will get better soon. Very tiring for you too, esp now that you are having #2. Wknd's round the corner, hang in there and catch up with your rest during the wknd.

I also dunno wat else can be done to quickly recover..i'm drinking like 2.4l of water a day also not helping. I rather be waking up to pump milk 3hrly and taking care of newborn than waking up with this pain man...

damien also kept waking up last nite..his fever now is in between 37.5 - 37.9...
his lip is so red and i can also feel his body heat.
I m having bad dry cough as well and was afraid that i will pass the cough to him..
so the whole nite either i was coughing badly or he kept waking up and called "mummy mummy"....
too bad HB is on nite shift this week, so i have to handle on my own.
today is the 3rd day he missed his class.

Ear thermometer
i have this problem measing his temperature.
When i measured his left ear it can be 36.9 degree and the right ear can be 38.2 degress.
anyone encoutered this. so which reading should i follow?

Always take the higher reading. The 36.9deg could be because u did not place the thermometer correctly. On the other hand, the higher reading is always the true reading.

I'm still quite upset abt it. SIL told me MIL was quite afraid that we will scold them cos she knew this was not the haircut we wanted. But FIL insisted this is nice. I think he jus took meg as a guinea pig for his haircut practice. :S

I remember.. there was once when we put Kae at MIl place when we return to pick her up.. I was shocked and almost cried because they brought kae to cut hair without informing us and the hair cut was REALLY disaster, not even close to Megan 2nd pic.
Her fringe was so short (she has high forehead) and the back were not even.
MIL some more say it's hair stylist who cut the hair and kae keep moving, my FIL hoping to make us feel better say it is very nice..faintzzz...
From then on, they never bring kae for hair cut liao :p maybe I was so upset.
These days I cut kae hair myself...just the fringe part.

I experience that and usually I will take another time or wait a few mins before attmept.
I noticed when bb is Sleeping on that side of the ear the temp will surely be very high.
if bb change side to sleep.. try take again and see if it's equally high.
On prudence side, should take the higher reading.
I also dun wan false alarm.. so I always double confirm after a few mins.

Try using a hairband or something. Actually Meg still looks girly and sweet despite the short hair. Don't be too upset ba. Their hair grow very fast so it'll be better in 2 weeks time.

cutting hair at salons
To date, I've not brought Ariene to the salon to cut hair. I do the hair cut myself so if it turns out bad, cant blame anyone. Also, her hair grows so fast I have to cut Ariene's hair every month.

Maybe you'll want to tell ur ILs that you do not wish for them to cut her hair anymore. But at least you're still in control of yourselves. I think I would have flared at them already.

the higher temp could be wrong if u measure the ear that's buried in the pillow. That time i had a shock when i measured my boy's temp. The ear on the pillow was substantially higher. But it gradually lowered to be about the same as the other ear.

Hi Mummies! Thanks for the well wishes!

Seth was born 23 Jan 08, 1146pm. 2.775kg, 48.5cm. Natural birth, used only laughing gas, which was a godsend! Didn't realize it's so effective even though I was induced. Kena cheated of it during 1st labour and halfway through the 2nd labour. Then the nightshift delivery nurse came in and realized I've been using pure O2 all along and turned on the gas for me. After that, I was in heaven! Gynae decided to induce me, I think it's because I went in too early and dilation between 4 to 5cm was taking too long. And the last meal I had was lunch. Strange thing cos for 1st one, it was quite fast. Seth was out after 2 pushes. Been breastfeeding directly till now, even at night. Find it's easier to just lie down and latch on than waking up to pump.

I find myself missing Kirsten so much since the noon on my delivery day cos I only saw her for 2 hours in the morning than no more of her till the next day afternoon. Dunno if any other mummies felt the same before?

my FIL used to be a barber. he layered the fringe. usually his haircut turns out nice, only this time dunno wat inspiration he had to do this style.

ya hor, maybe the laughing gas we used was only O2 dats why no effect. cos my fren used laughing gas said its v effective wor, she was so high. i said no ah, the gas smelled like exhaust fumes n i hated it.

I'm currently housebound- had very bad sciatic nerve pains since sunday. Ordered bed rest. Baby at 34 weeks weighed 3.2kg already, cannot imagine full term. Fell ill two days ago with the cold. MIL passed germs to Sarah and Sarah passed it on to me, husband and the maid. Very Jia Lak.... *sigh* hoping that I wont go into labour whilst nursing the cold. Horrible feeling.

Still having contractions or braxton hicks every now and then. Doc says that even if I were to go into labour now, baby should be fine cos good size. So, Im just waiting and waiting. Getting very very pek chek. Can't wait to pop.

Will be thinking very hard about getting pregnant again cos this pregnancy hasn't been easy. So much pain and mood swings.

Sarah has also been giving alot of trouble lately. Very good at saying NO and don't want to everything. Also very demanding- will whine until she gets her way. Driving me up the wall. As I can't really move, have to rely on maid for alot of things when it comes to caring for her. Realised that maid not a very good substitute as she always gives in to her after some tantrums. Told maid alot of times to be stricter already but really quite pointless... *sigh,sigh,sigh*

my maid also gives in to JH quite easily but after a few times of scolding, she will try more lor. every time when i ask her why give him this or that, she will tell me cos he cried. until got one time i so fed up, i asked her, if he asks u for money, u will give him also is it. of cos she said no. so same principal must apply to other stuff right...

since u r at home, maybe can 'remind' your maid more often. they really need reminders one....

actually your bb is pretty good size. oh dear hope u recover soon. when i was having JH, i was having a cold and cough. it certainly felt very uncomfortable during confinement

Hi sunny, when's ur due date?

SY, I'ld like to try telling my maid that too- one thing bad about her is that she's quite sensitive. Got alot of stories about some problems we had with her from day 1. Unfortunately we can't do much as the new baby is coming and sarah is more or less used to her.

or maybe u give her some incentive? my maid actualyl wanted a raise but i told her if she can improve her performance, i will give her a raise in 6 months time. and one of the things i like to see is her putting more effort on JH. i feel last time she will bother to distract him more when he cries for things he wants. and she doesn't do that now. so i told her that's one of the things i noticed. after that i do see some improvement. she was giving him too much TV but these few days i noticed it has cut down quite a bit.

my dad told me abt his fren who gave the maid an incentive to work well. he told the maid that if she does a good job, after her contract is up, they will give her additional bonus of 3 months (something like that). the maid did her work so well that i think they end up giving more than 3 months bonus to her cos they were pleased. so maybe incentive works for them better than reminders....
