Spinach BP
Helping Denmy to organise. Those who want to buy spinach thru Denmy please indicate your nick, how many portions u want here and where u want to collect it (eg, her shop, bash via CL, her home in marine parade). Her normal portion is about 500g.

1. Mamapanda (750g, via CL)
2. Aileen - 1 portion (shop or bash depending on collection date)

my boy also doesn't like cod liver oil. In fact he dislikes the multivits too. So what we do is, we mix the cod liver oil 2.5ml with 2.5ml multivits and top it up with a raisin. So long as there's a raisin in it, he'll it it. Then we'll give the remaining multivits in another spoonful.

He's taking Animal Parade from Vitakids now.

Another mtd which i find very useful when he's sick is to make Chuan Bei Pear.

I double boil chuan bei, nan xing, bei xing, Pear and a bit of rock sugar for 1 hr. After that feed him the water and the pear. He loved it coz it's sweet. It really helps to clear up the phlegm. Coz he's still too young to take chuan bei pi pa gao, so that's an alternative that i did lor.

Wah, JH is so smart. My boy has just started to say more words like 'nana' for banana. He can also say the phonic sounds of some of the alphabets. Think it's the leapfrog dvd that's helping him in that. He keeps wanting to watch it everyday.

My boy is addicted to DVDs now. Everyday he wants to watch his Jay Jay the Jetplane (twice, consecutively.), his leapfrog 'Talking Words Factory'. He'll switch on the player himself and put in the disc. Ai yoh. When Jay Jay ends and I wanna keep it, he'll kick up a big fuss till i replay it.

I've watched it so much that I can sing the songs inside already. sigh.

My MIL boil the chuan bei pear and both ashley and megan didn;t like it. Think it's the almond taste........ i like it thou. haha.

Thinking of trying crocodile meat. Heard it cure the lungs.

thx for your kind words.. a dentist was finally willing to see me ystrdy! after checking, he couldn't find anything wrong with my teeth but he could tell my sinus was inflammed. He thinks my pain could be due to the prolong flu i had and the virus is attacking my sinus and thus he nerve connected to my teeth etc. So he gave me antibiotics (finally!! I get antibiotics), which I got the OK from my gynae too. But he told me for pain relieve, only panadol. The pain shld subside tomor, if not, i've to go back to him and it will be a complicated process liao, cos gotta x-ray etc...

I had a terrible night again last night, only 3hrs of sleep and was crying and tearing my hair etc like in labour pain! But labour pain much beta, got epidural. Everyday at 5am, 11am, 5pm and 11pm when the panadol wears off, i turn into a werewolf..I'm hoping hoping hoping the pain will subside tomor.

all 3 dentists i called before him refused to see me just to assess the situation. They hear 24wks preggy only they say nothing can be done.

When Meg first started 2hr daily playgroup at 18mths old, she fell sick very often too. Now, she's much better, falling sick less often, probably built immunity to the bugs as mashy said. So if he really enjoys the school thr, give it more time bah.

Charmaine is the same - only difference is that hers would be triggered by dustmite. If the place is a little dusty, she will cough and cough and cough. Currently she's on preventer medicine. It's under control cos we always control it before it erupt into something major. I have tried TCM but it doesn't help plus it made her appetite bad so I gave up. I have also tried tui na at Kembagan. She loves it but I don't see an improvement. Well, am just waiting for her to outgrow it.

Btw, the TCM that I went to specifically told me not to make the chuan pei thing for charmaine.

Hmmm.. charmaine's very sticky now too especially after I start my lessons. She would keep calling mummy, mummy even when I go toilet. She would want me to play with her, talk to her when I am home. Plus she knows that on sats, we don't work so when I went for lessons on sats, she's really upset.
 
Hi, mummies. Thanks for all the advice.

This zachary now has been crying so much, end up my MIL thought that he is being tramatised into taking bus and gg to school. But good that she is quite supportive of my actions.

The school zachary goes is bridges montessori at punggol end, afternoon session now only he and one girl in the class. But in other standards, about 10 kids only total. So i quite like it as he can have more attention till in term 2, 2 other kids will come in. One is the form teacher child, so thinking how can she cope?

Think need to be more "ren xin", put him back in school as he really learnt more things though it is only 5 days that he go. Like take out shoes, sit properly on the chair, following instruction.
Stay at home the whole day, also watch barney.

Will bring him back school next tuesday liao, keeping my fingers crossed on this. Will be preparing the chuan bei and giving him multi vitamins!

now that u mentioned, i had this episode before. my sinus was so bad once that the mucus went into the dental cavity (not as in tooth decay). so everytime i walk, the mucus will move and it will hit the nerve and i will feel pain. it was so bad that i went to see dentist and he said nothing wrong with my tooth but from xray, cd tell that my sinus affecting my tooth! so later i got medicine for my sinus and it helped to clear it up

Jh has been talking so much nowadays. quite a funny sight. he also learn the phonics sounds from the leapfrog dvd. and he got this really funny action. for letter M, they will rub the tummy right? so everytime he tries something new and he likes it, he will shake his body and rub his tummy and go MMMM nice...

The GP suggest to try oral since the spray type is not effective.

Seems like Q&M's quite good yeah? So far only tried Dr, Sharon for the children. Have not visited a Q&M dentist myself.

Chuan bei is the one that gives it the bitter taste. I think the med hall pp say the higher grade ones are less bitter. Not sure how true is it though.

For crocodile meat, u can only give her when she's well. When she's sick, cannot give her. Also they say u can give cordyceps when they're well to boost up the immune system.

JH is so funny. Hahhaaha. Where did u get the letter factory? I got Talking Words Factory when I bought the Word Whammer. I'm thinking whether to buy the 5 dvd set, which will also include the talking word factory.
 
SY: Zachary is only attending 3.5hrs half day but the bus trip to & fro takes 1hr.

Yah, it's great to hear our todds speaking in sentences isn't it? Now Isaac is also constructing short sentences like "Where is Daddy car?" and this morning he was very sticky to me and told my HB "I don't want Daddy". My HB told Isaac that if he doesn't want him, then he will nto buy anymore Thomas trains for him. Isaac quickly hug my HB and kiss him. My HB says so young already know how to 'bribe' him.

A few days ago, he sang the entire ABC song, though the 'LMNOP' part he couldn't articulte it clearly. But it's the first time he could sing a complete song, I was so proud to hear it.

Not sure. The EYS physician says no. Think it depends on the type of cough plus what's the root cause. The EYS physician's root cause anaylsis for her cough matches what the PD says but somehow the medication doesn't work.

Nope, not oral. puff. Pulmicort plus ventolin. Need to do it correctly for it to work.

yeah man. after that experience, whenever i get a cold, i always make sure i blow my nose really hard so that hoping no more mucus stuck inside. it's really quite irritating pain. each step u take, the pain will be there. worse when i jump! but now u cannot jump...

same for JH, the playgroup is 3 hours but bus trip back and forth is abt an hour. so sometimes on the way back, he actually falls asleep on the bus.

i got the leapfrog from tower.com. it's not the same as the book.

yeah it's really funny to hear him speak in sentences. me and hb always burst out laughing. JH is worse, he will say Papa go out. and say mama and heng together. so my hb feels like third party all the time.

Thanks mummies for your advise. My contractions petered away late last night and today only had mild cramping sensations. Think I'll wait till friday before asking my gynae. I didn't feel so uncomfortable when I was expecting sarah which explains my 'kancheongness' this time round.

Mongs, the cramps that I had were accompanied by lower backache at times and it does feel like the baby was moving downwards. I didn't feel any pressure around the vagina though- so I think can still wait a while more before panicking... =0

Just learnt what it means to be off-balanced when pregnant. Had my first fall yesterday. Think baby sitting on sciatic nerve- my legs went numb all of a sudden and I went crashing down the floor. Thank goodness my knees broke my fall otherwise I think I would have delivered my baby yesterday. hehe... Spotting bruised up knees today though...=\

Hi mummies, JW has been running a high fever since Sat. My friend is saying that it seems a bit too long &amp; suggested maybe bringing him down to see another doc for blood test or something like dat.

1. Is a 4 day fever normal?
2. Does a normal PD do blood test or do I need to bring him to the hospital

how high is JW's fever? beside fever, do JW behave like his usual self? what did the doctor said during the last visit and what med he gave? might want to do a urine test just to rule out UTI.

Once the fever comes, it hits the range of 38 to 39. On Sat &amp; Sun night, it hit 40 as well :-(

He is fine in general. Still eating &amp; playing. Except at night when his fever tend to shoot up, he looks blur &amp; lethargic…though I don't know if that is due to fever or he is just sleepy and tired

Isaac had a bout of fever last year that lasted about 4 to 5 days. The fever peaked at night to 40 degs. No other symptoms and me and HB brought him to KK. Their advice is only to monitor, give him meds and keep sponging him. Then on day 4 or 5, his fever came down and there's an outbreak of rashes (fake measles). Give it one more day.

Is he taking any antibiotics ? What did the first doctor diagnosed him as ? I think if he has got a infection, it usually takes about 5 days then from 6th day it will start to go down. Aden and Charmaine just went thru this and I have been NUH, GP and they all say the same thing

it got be infection, since the fever hit this high and last for 4 days. like what CL asked, is JW on antibiotics? if not, you might want to bring him to doc again to check for any infection in his ear, throat or UTI. just be prepare to expect for fake measles after JW's fever went down.

Thanks for the advice. We went to another PD coz his fever peak on Sunday &amp; Dr Sim not open. That PD v lousy…we were in the room for less than 2min and she ushered us out after a few questions.

Then in this case. You can monitor for another day. Because Aden saw dr on Monday, it is his 4th day of fever. Dr says only to have review on Wed if he still has fever. So I think you can monitor lah.

Nanny brought him to another dr liao but because no antibiotics so I brought him to my usual one on 4th day. Otherwise ha ha i wont be bothered.

Not sure about others but when I am on medication my heart always beat faster

do you find your doc good? can recommend? so, you didnt even do the injection? The GP I went said that I hv 3 internal piles. I took the medicine and suppository and applied cream. Now much better. she said tt I can go back to do injectiion. But, i find that she qt a bad doc, keep rushing thru the consult. so, i'm looking for another doc.

doc ho doesnt know, coz i only had this prob during confinement, after taking the heaty confinement food. My CL's food really super bu and very heaty, until now, I'm still heaty.

So happy today , I just have to share my joy.
Today is aden's 4th week in CC. As usual he will cling on to me at the door. So I carried him , put his shoes down, left his bag in the cubby hole. Stopped to talk to Charmaine's teacher who praised him for being good ( and I think he understand because he shy away). Then I move on and tell him that I am going to work , so can you please go play with the other friends. He then request to be put down and went over to play. So I walked off. Saw him looking back for us , so I waved good bye to him. He waved back and continued playing. Maybe he has finally got used to school. Hope it will be the same from tomorrow onwards

Of course I have another problem to tackle. As Aden has been clinging on to me because of the separation anxiety at cc. Charmaine must have felt that I have put too much attention on him. Everyday from the car to the school, she will insist that I should put Aden down and kick a big fuss. Well Jealousy is finally kicking into her liao. Sigh. Big headache

4 days is ok. Elijah had fever for 5 days and high fever as high as 40.2. There was no doc we trust in China at that time so we only try to manage the fever. and it turns out tat he has viral fever with fake measeals ... coz got rashes after fever almost subside.
 
SH - Celeste also had this kinda fever before... it lasted for 4 days wf no symptons and on the 4th day itself, rashes broke out to indicate the end... for her, the fever always rebounce fiercely from evening time onwards... i tink for JW, can monitor for another day and see how...

Managed to get 2 sets for Celeste at quite a good price... the red cheongsam is oni $10, and the pink set is $18.HB also got her a pair of red beaded shoes to go wf her red cheongsam for $10, very cute!

on shopping at chinatown,there was one super rude auntie at one of the shops there who refused to show me another piece when i said it had holes showing.. wah, she very sak wor, just took it back fr me and folded it saying: all the same! sooooo pissed,and its not as if hers is cheap at $18 for the same thing i paid for $10... Hmpf!

If I remember correctly, fever by itself is not an illness. It is a symptom of an illness. Mostly by infection so really need to monitor. Go to your usual PD for a thorough check? Actually I really don't like GPs. The GPs that are near my place or my mum's place behaved like pharmacists - they just prescribe meds.

Glad it's better for you. I remembered that for the last 2 -3 days before i delivered, i have this persistent pain at the lower back that's so bad that it made the labour pain itself so mild.

So Aden has adapted well to CC now? that's good. I think charmaine will understand. She's actually pretty mature for her age.

When meg has the viral fever, it goes up at night to 40deg and lasts about 4days too. It normally comes with runny nose or cough. Hang in there, no harm bringing to your usual PD for his opinion.
 
Re: Feeling better
Finally finally! OK, I went to my lousy GP last night in the hope of getting better pain meds instead of panadol and he gave me tramadol. Made me happy for nothing. When I took the tramadol at 10pm, the pain didn't go away!! So I endure until 2am then I pop 2 paracetamols. Within 10mins I could settle to sleep finally. Between 10pm-2am I was sitting on my sofa and nodding away.

AND I could sleep till 630am!! The pain only came back at 9am this morning and I took panadol again. So it's a sign that the antibiotics are kicking in. Thank god!!!

Aden is pretty ok except for the morning deposit. So today was a shock to us. Hee Hee.

I think the variety of CNY clothes for girls are much better and nicer as compared boys. I'm not getting any CNY costumes for Isaac this year liao.

I think my consultant is Prof. Weng (but need to double check on the surname) from SGH. If I'm not wrong he's the vice-head of the department there and is more expensive. I opted for him only because my ex-company was paying the bills. He's very patient and gentle. Didn't take any injection leh... Are you taking the jabs on regular basis? He only gave me stool softener and some kind of meds.

glad to hear tat u are beta liao. Tramadol's effect like very slow hor. I'm also on tramadol for my migrane cos i'm allergic to Panadol. I hv to pop 2 pills.

Thanks! aiyo...the tramadol totally NO effect on me. Imagine lah, 10pm took 1 pill, at 2am still no effect! The GP only allow me 1 pill 3 times a day max...

You allergic to Panadol, have you asked whether you can take the kids paracetamol in liquid? Maybe that's lower dosage.

I didn't see any doctors. Just avoided heaty foods, reduced the amount of ginger and sesame oil in my confinement food, drink alot of water, eat lots of veggies. Eat papayas in moderation but not too much. Green leafy veggies or wholemeal breads &amp; muesli (with lots of water/juice or milk) are a better choice (avoid brown rice at all cost). If you're badly constipated, papaya won't help but may worsen as it causes your stool to lose water faster and u may have "watery stool" which is actually the water lost but you're in fact, still constipated. Also, too much of papaya may cause jaundice in small babies if you're breastfeeding.

I've had piles since 15years old (came from my bad habit of reading books while sitting on the toilet bowl for too long) and I have my usual steroid cream for applying. However, I noticed that after giving birth, it has worsened and sometimes it can be so bad that even the steroid cream fail to shrink it. I have been asked to do stapling but I'm pushing that back as far as I can.

However, I discovered a miracle medicine for the piles and if u have it at home, give it a try! Its a chinese cream called "Bao3 Fu1 Ling2" from "Bao3 Shu4 Tang2" but this can only be bought from China. The box is purplish blue and white in color and the packaging is lavender in colour. Its a blend of pearl powder, menthol and some other stuff cream but it works wonders on ezcema and piles. When its very bad, I just scoop a generous lump of the cream and apply and push it in (sorry if I sound horrid... u know what I'm talking abt right?). Because this medicine has to be kept in the fridge and it contains menthol, its very soothing &amp; cooling. It may "bite" for a few seconds if ur skin has already "broken" or grazed but after that it works wonders when even the steroid cream cant help with it.

If u know of anyone going to China or coming back from China, its a must buy, esp if u don't want to fo for surgery and you don't want to apply steroid creams. I use this for Ariene's ezcema as well but sparingly cuz its "minty hot" and she doesn't like it.
