Hello mummies,
Haven't been catching up with the postings. I'm so busy at work and I can't believe I'm given so many IP cases and contract agreements to handle! I'm not even there for a week! But still manageable but definitely no time to surf the web or check out forums during working time already.
Re. Expensive toys / PC / hand held games
I think we have to look at these in perspective...
though I'm not for such things, but I can't say that I will not buy for Isaac in the future. I remember playing Nintendo and hand held games when I was a kid. But my parents will just buy the console and told me and my siblings that if we want the games, we have to buy ourselves. And my parents limit the playing time and we are not allowed to bring hand held games out of the house. Ultimately, it's about managing and setting the conditions of giving our children such 'luxuries'. We all have PCs at home. Does that mean that we do not allow our kids to use the PC for fear of getting addicted to PC games? I guess we just have to be very much in tune with our kids in whatever they do in their growing process. It's not so much that the games / toys are damaging. It's more on how we have to manage the exposure and time spent on such things.
Re. Toys R Us
It's Isaac's favourite haunt. We always bring him there cos we can tell that he enjoys looking at the toys so so much. He is really happy in Toys R Us. Sure, he'll ask to buy this buy that, me and HB will tell him that he has a lot of toys at home and cannot keep buying. He'll throw a small tantrum or protest when we go out of the store but he gets over it quite fast. Sometimes, my HB will just put in $3 into those mini Thomas train or small balls dispensers and Isaac is satisfied.
Re. First World hotel
One of the worst hotels I have ever stayed. Me and HB go Genting 2 or 3 times a year and we always stay in Genting or Resort Hotel. The Resort Hotel has recently been renovated and it's very nice.
Re. Gap Spree
I may do one in 1 or 2 weeks' time.
sl,
For ON/ Gap sprees, my style is to split by the estimated bulkiness of the items. Meaning most baby/toddler tops/shorts/skirts is 1 unit, baby denim items may be 1.5 units. baby jackets maybe 1.5-2units. Adult wear is 2 - 3 units. Something like that.
SY,
So sweet of your HB! Me and my HB has stopped celebrating Vday years ago and he has never surprised me since then.
