Can i ask wat are the items i should pack when i go hospital delivery?

Christina - can i ask wat Mt E will be giving? Do i have to bring alot?

My boy also sama sama leh.. sleep late too. 11pm+. we'll put him on our bed, he'll turn his head to watch TV!.. sometimes, just doze off like that (of course wif pacifier lah), then we'll transfer him to his cot.

Anyone's babe started to watch TV?
I think Keyon inherited from his daddy & mummy, a TV addict.. hee hee.. Any good VCDs to reccommend?
 
applejuz, mine start 2 watch tv when he's abt 2 mths old liao. once i even caught him laughing together wif d tv program. so cute...

how do u transport ur expressed milk fr office to home? cooler bags + ice packs? Do u put them in fridge during office hours? My office fridge is usually full of foodstuff, and not cold one.. wondering how to store EBM when i go back..

I use Avent Via cups.. no worries abt spilling my precious white blood. Yes once i express i'll put in the dept bar fridge. Not as cold as home fridge, but better than nothing lah.
I dun dare to use bags in office.. dunno how to put in fridge skali other people topple it.

My MIL house is abt 15min journey at blk 200+. Not so far but still tiring travelling lor.. Somehow don't feel as close as when BB's at home.. eg. she'll be wearing those clothes bought/choosen by MIL... using bottle/hanky bought by MIL also. When she's at home i prepared all her things and choose all her things from head to toe hehe..
But I feel putting at MIL place is still better then getting a maid.. at least i more fan4 xing1

My gal also like to watch TV but we restraint her from doing so cos might be bad for her eyes and too sitimulating.. But unavoidable lah.. cos we also can't resist watching TV even when playing with her hehe... She'll try to turn/strain herself have a peek at the TV lor..

My girl also like to watch tv...when i feed her, i will switch the tv on for her to watch.easier to burp her now also, cause she's distracted by the tv, and won't fuss..then when i put her in the bouncer, she will turn her head towards the tv also...she will watch whatever is on tv, but i find that she likes to watch Sister Act a lot..yesterday showing on Star Movies again..she was totally engrossed by it..i think cause of the black & white habits the nuns wear (cause babies can see black, white, red more clearly?) and the catchy music hee..she got very excited everytime they started singing, and she was waving her arms about and smiling/exclaiming..

ya, my hands also getting very dry with lots of hangnails and peeling..think its all that washing of the bottles, teats, pacfiers etc...

Skippy10, can let us know more about your sideline? this SAHM need more income heh me also big spendthrift, keep buying things...especially for baby! hubby say i spoil our baby girl, whatever can be bought, i think i bought already hehe my girl got a fisherprice swing, 3 sarongs stands with auto rocker (1 for mum's place, 2 for our house - 1 upstairs 1 downstairs), bouncer, 2 bumbos (1 for mum's place, 1 for our house), playmat, activity mat, cot, bassinet, pram, car seat etc etc etc.. hee, so need to have some extra cash also :D

re: storing BM
i'm thinking of getting those kind of mini fridge n put in office! :p but dunno if it's allowable cos may overload the electric power?! scar-ly short circuit the whole office..hehe... but my hb not v supportive of me continuing with BM after i return to work leh.. he thinks it's too much hassle n 6 months is already enough....

put the milk bags in a cup so it won't topple. that's what i do in office... plus, i stick a big post-it note on my milk bottles "DO NOT TOUCH". heh heh.

i also kena alot of workload in my 1st - 3rd tri!! Worked till 11 plus almost every night thru out my preg. No wonder i premature give birth. But premature also good lah.. can go off on ML earlier. :p

i give 3 bottles to my MIL - 1 bottle is fresh chilled one that i pump the day b4 and 2 bottles is frozen. Like this i ensure that my bb get some fresh milk (with power packed anti bodies!) every day.

think now i will ask my mum to feed him the expressed bm and only touch the frozen one if i cant express enough for his feed ... cos what i did yest was to freeze the milk that i pump out in the office ... should have just fed him those today instead of freezing them ...

i will latch him on whenever he is with me ... think thats the best ...

i will put my EBM in my pantry fridge but put the bottle in a container so that if ppl need to shift my milk ... they just need to shift the container and no need to touch the milk ...

i bought a coleman cooler bag and ice brick fr CK Tang ... so when i go home i just put the milk and ice brick in the cooler bag ... didnt buy those bags that are specially meant for the milk cos tot that i can use the coleman bag next time when i go pinic heehee ... btw u can buy from moms in mind ... the price there is lower than the normal retail store

re: watching TV
not sure if its true ... but my fren told me not to let my bb watch TV for too long ... she say that next time their attention span will be very short ...

When they give me grade 2 for appraisal, I was so happy! Then suddenly boss change to grade 3, I was like a bird flying high & suddenly ganna shot down... sucks~

Just a little relaxing moments. This is a very cute site, can peep for a moment.

wow, u really bought a lot of stuff 4 ur gal. 4 me, i didn't buy much. we r using lots of hand me downs. sometimes, i pity my boy.
 
confused, Mt E doesnt give anything except for this sad looking ugly diaper bag filled w brochures and some samples from sponsors.

the hosptl doesnt even provide mittens and booties, my poor baby looked like she had been scratched by a mad cat since day 1. i brought mittens but was saving for the day she got discharged. so you might want to bring extra mittens. Plus clothes and receiving blanket to bring your baby home in. And your own clothes.

Rest will be covered under hosptl charges. i.e. sanitary pads, wet wipes...

I brought my own toiletries and towel, nipple cream, some magazines, munchies. eh..thats about it. No need to bring breast pump cuz there's only colostrum for the first few days..

k, if i think of anything else i'll let u know again

cakey, i think as long as they r not too close to the TV set, shld be ok for the eyes. heard once they start watching tv, will learn things very fast.

yes, yes, black & white. I find my boy staring at the black screen with white moving names on it (those screen when a show ends..)
And once, he cry so loud, but stop suddenly to stare at the TV, then cry again, then stop & stare again.. so amusing :p
 
re: hair drop
is the hair dropping thing very bad eg. like bald patches??? My bb is 3mths old today.. does it mean my hair will start to drop from this mth onwards??

vone - hand me downs stuff better lah... then we don't feel so heart pain when they outgrow the stuff so quickly!!

ting, mayb u can chk wif ur ofc 2 c whether it's allowed or not. investing in a mini fridge seems a bit excessive 2 me. wat will happen 2 ur mini fridge shld ur supply drops?? paiseh, me dun mean 2 pour cold water on u, jus wan 2 share my thots wif u.

ineedmilk, tt's veri bad of ur co. dun understd how they can treat pregnant like tt. re. hair dropping, tink it depends on d individual. some of my frens dropped til they got bald patches. but dun worry, coz d hair do grow back after a few mths.

i'm very surprise to hear that. I thought all hospital will provide/give some goodies. Then how abt baby pampers n milk bottle? (Have to bring our own oso)

confused, no prob. diapers are provided by Mt E. aint sure about milk bottles cuz i breastfed all the way. What goodies r u referring to? Mt E's diaper bag is pretty simple, it included samples of J&J products and some other samples which i dun remember liao...

was referring to the hospital package. it'll be offered when u register for your stay. advise you to take that because there's less hassle when it comes to billing. The basic package includes basic hospital supplies for yourself and baby.
 
hehe.. vone, if not using for milk, mini fridge can be used to store cans of coke! haha.. i'll check out the office's nursing room when i'm back.. maybe there's a fridge...

Been feeling very pek chek last weekend...

my MIL been grumpling about how my gal will not get close to her. MIL said now my gal gal is not taken care by her, we must try to bring her more often to her house. If not she will get too close to my mother. Wah Lao, hello, i try my best to bring my gal over during the weekend.

But i'm a full time working mum and mon to fri i rush to my mum house after work to see my gal. Sometimes i bring her back to take care myself. On sat i bring her over to my IL place, stay for 2 3 hours they not happy. Wan us stay til dinner, okie lor. We stay. Now they are hinting sunday also to come!!

Then what abt me? I dun have to stay at home liao lor?? No need to do housework? My hubby suggested to them that they could come over our house instead. I ok with the idea. But they dun wan. Keep wanting us to go over.
Hello!! my ILs are not old and they dun work at all, 2 person everyday stay at home...

sigh, i so tired....so scared of weekends and public holiday now...
 
speaking of in-laws,
i have a tricky situation...my FIL is someone who does not dare to carry newborn or babies whose neck is not strong enough to support yet. My SIL/BIL two babies he also never carry, but recently he mustered up courage and carried my baby girl (must be she too cute, he can't resist haha) anyway, him carrying her is a good thing, cause now i have an extra pair of hands which can help me to look after her when she's fussy...HOWVEVER, my FIL has a very strong body smell..when he carries my baby girl, her hair will smell of his bo/armpit smell after that!! the first few times i was like aiyo, where is this smell coming from? then i realised its from the body contact with my FIL..what can i do? I can't possibly tell him not to carry her cause he got bad smell? the smell also won't come off unless i wash her hair, wiping with wet cloth no use one..and i can't wash her hair more than once a day what, not good for baby..eeeps! how? i told my hubby, he also dunno what to do. Cause if he tell my MIL or FIL, he sure don't want to carry her anymore and will be offended/hurt. Help!!

my FIL also like yrs, dun dare to carry soft soft babies.. even when she cry, he will just sit there and watch my gal wailing away even though we are busy.

For yr FIL case, is yr FIL a sensitive person? cos mine is very very lor. So if u guys really decide to gently share the news with him, perhaps let yr hubby do the talking...maybe it's better that you are not around?
 
ero, if i were u, i wldn't bother abt wat they say. if they wan 2 c their granddaughter, they can jolly well come over 2 ur plc. i may sound mean, but it's ur life afterall. y let them control it??

hello erowen - yo! dont get pek chek. Maybe u can ask your hubby to tell them that u got to do housework n very tired. (got to work during weekday n take care of bb so ask them to come over when they are free n moreover they not working mah) Aiyo! how can they have this kind of thinking, your bb gal sure get close to your mum cos she's the one looking after her)
Although your PIL is demanding, at least they care for your gal (loves to see her more)

mine ah! sad lor, till now MIL never ask how's my pregnancy progress liao, bb sex and ...(they didnt even know that i'm giving birth in jan 06) instead MIL blame me for not stopping hubby n SIL fighting.

good news ladies,

small small world is willing to give a discount of 20% for purchase at least 10 mats..

one criteria i have for all interested to buy is that you have to pay me first before i place the order. this is just to safeguard myself incase anyone back up and i have to bear the cost myself. in order to avoid this, i would request you to pay me first before i placed the orders. regarding about time frame, i'm still checking with SSW by when i have to give her the orders. so at the moment, we just see whether we can reach 10 persons...

erowen, understand yr frustrations. ILs are always tricky to handle. i agree with Vone to ignore them. actually they should appreciate, once a week is good enough. I don't like to go to my ILs house, so far we only go about 2-3 times (my boy coming 10wks old). hee, cos i evil DIL, always 'brain wash' my hb n say i dun like to go.

i'm a mummy, ask yr hb to tell yr FIL, father n son easier to talk rite? i also tell my father he cannot carry my son till he's older, can only talk n play with him while me carry, cos my father quite weak. then i'll joke to say he cant carry himself well at times too. think easier cos we father n daughter.
