I have argue a few times with my hubby, i think he kena stress out by me liao. but what to do, i cannot just let my in laws do what they like to my gal.

miso, i heard of that also, that's cannot say baby very kwai and very pretty. Must say opposite. But still not easy leh. guess it's our maternal instinct at work.

ixwong, if u looking for infant care, rem to look out for their hygiene and also ask them whether the babies there have contacted Hand Foot Mouth Disease before. One of my colleague's baby, got it twice at the infant centre.

for us, it's not really an option as our budget very tight.

Did u experience the cramp like feeling for a few days before the actual contractions came? Now, i feel crampy below, but more concentrated on the left side rather than the whole tummy. Got a bit of dull backache also. Wonder if this means baby coming soon? Now into 38th weeks....but still working cos i'm planning my leave to start on 19 sept....

doc says now the bb is fully matured so no point waiting...if still no signs will have to induce on sat...i kind of look forward for the moment to come naturally so disappointed that i may hv to induce...anyhow hv to console myself that as long bb is healthy i am happy...anyone can advise what is the process to induce...gynae says that he will chk my cervix on sat to c if it is dilated if not have to insert medicine and go hospital to induce...
any experience to share? by the way, what is the extra charges for doing that? if scarcely hv to emer-c-section, they will have 2 different charges or not? i am thinkg if i shld just go for c-sect? i a little upset yesterday nvr ask all these questions...thanks girls

my mom calls my little ones.. little ugly.. but she got her theory.. she said that pple last time dun treat their little ones like precious so that the bb will not be taken away.. apparently, back in the old days, bb usu dun survive.. so it is believed that the more u treat them like grass, the more they will survive

hi mummytobe, now that hubby is working, i take over the bathing.. i bathe him ard 3 - 5 pm... i know supposed to bathe in morning n then wipe in the evening, but during morning he sleeps more soundly, really bu ren xin to wake him up for bathing...

abt calling bb names... the "theory" is that usually the reverse will come true, e.g. if u call bb pretty he/she will not turn out pretty... so pple will say "bad" things abt the bb in the hope that the reverse will come true...

Vone: i very kelian leh always got bully by her.. i tried cooking dinner once *biang i cook 1 dish got to dash out dunno hw many times.. tot she had slept went back to kitchen.. not more then 3mins she cried again..

mummytobe: for PIL u try to be firm to them on yr teaching preference. if u find it hard to open mouth, ask yr hubby for help. tho i'm not staying wif PIL, but the once a week mitup is oredi creating a headache for me. wen thr is more time i will write out wat actually happen

As for breast pad i find it not breathable esp wen weather is hot so i juz wear my camisole wif pad.. if nid to wear breast pad esp wen i'm out usually i change if i find the pad is hot & wet

hi lib, my PILs are also once-a-week kind... somehow just feel that they only care abt the grandson lor... only now my mil ask me to eat more nutritious feed, so that her grandson can have "better quality" milk.. last time also never care what i eat... when my hubby fell sick during my confinement period (we have no CL) the first thing she said was "poor fella" (meaning my hubby), then said "so now u have to take care of 2 pple" (bb n hubby). Hallo, i'm the one who's suffering leh.. instead of being helped i have to be the caregiver??

but i guess it's natural that parents are more kan chiong abt their own flesh n blood... if i told my parents that my hubby was sick, they wld immediately think of how my needs wld be met, rather than how my hubby is feeling.

tulip: yess has got two branches.. one is at raffles place and the other is at ceinleisure. if u want better price.. think would be at yess ba. ok.. i think currently they are running 30 percent disc. for rebonding and stuffs if i am not wrong. but soon they will take it away.. coz change of a new marketing member(internal conflicts). if i am not wrong.. they will be changing soon. hair loss is very much on the individual ba i guess.

this is rather embarassing, but do any of you have a problem carrying your babies, like me? my arms are rather bony, and i'm not used to carrying heavy loads/weights for long periods. And i've never carried a baby before prior to my baby girl. So when i carry her (cradle position), i'm worried about her being uncomfortable. She looks awkward in my arms leh..cause my elbow (arm junction) area very bony, can't really support her head very well and i have to carry her with arms a bit extended cause my breasts are in the way..if not, she will be smothered by my breasts(hence got gap between my elbow and my body). Not sure leh..i tried following how the CL carries her, but somehow it just looks/feels wrong. And my girl looks so much more comfortable in the CL arms than in mine sob sob sob

..dunno is it because of my bony arms or what..waaaah...i feel so dejected that i can't even carry my baby properly

I've a question to ask. I bought a stroller way before baby was born without realising that there are many diff types around in the market. Now the thing is, how am I to know if the stroller I bought is suitable for newborn? I have already discarded the box ... The brand is Haenim Baby (Lucky baby) or something like that. It's a 3-wheelers and 3 adjustable heights ... Pls kindly enlighten me.

That's strange. Doesn't your milk keep dripping when you don't put on your bra? Mine seems to drip every time baby cries or after 1-2 hr. I express my milk every 2 hr cos need to feed baby every 3 hrs. He is very 'punctual' in waking up for his feed

Before the milk flow comes I will 1st feel a 'burning' sensation on my nipple then the milk will start to drip

I really hate it cos it leaves stains on the floor and it's sooooo sticky! I find myself changing breast pads every 2 hrs cos if I don't, the sour smell is kinda strong ... How?? At the rate I'm going, I will be spending more on breast pads than diapers!

Yup, mine will drip if i don't express every 3 hours or so... if i go near baby, will also start to drip. especially when i bf her, feeding her on one breast, other side start to drip.. but i don't have burning sensation leh,..mine just start to drip. When i don't put on a bra, i stuff tissue paper into my shirt just in case heh...

For the stroller, those suitable for newborns can be reclined down almost flat ie. lying down position. This is because newborns can't really support the neck yet. Think the best thing for you to do is to call or visit the place where you bought it from and ask them.. your three adjustable heights..the lowest one, is it almost flat? or maybe inclined at about at most 15 degrees? if yes, then should be suitable for newborn lor...

Hi everyone,
finally I have some time to log in

Anton weighs 3.28kg and 54cm long born exactly on his due date (5th sept)due he was not engaged prior. I can still feel his legs kicking as I was giving birth to him haha.

Ok this is my birth story.
4am- Show , called the labour ward and told them that I do not have any pain so they say wait till about 8 am to see the gynae. Did not managed to sleep because hubby kept asking me if I should go to the hospital right away but I told him even if we go now we will still have to wait since I don't have any pain.

9am- reached the clinic and waited about 30 mins.Only 1 cm dilated but awarded to the observation room where there are 4 beds in a room.

2am- Doc inserted a pill to speed up dilation since only have very minor contractions. Still no pain. After an hour plus, still only 1.5cm dilated so she decided to induce.

330pm- Drips administered and strong contractions came right after. Immense pain like having really horrible menstral cramps!!Got the gas and help to relieve me of the pain but decided to have epidural since I want to have enough strength to push.

4-5pm-was fully dilated but all the birth rooms are choked so waited to till 6pm before wheeled into the birth room

600pm-waited for gynae to come while trying to push.

645pm- gynae came and urged me to push.Hubby was there all the way. I asked him not to look cos I thought he would faint.

735pm- After a few pushes, Anton was born and my hubby had to look but he did not faint!That alone is miracle cos he is afraid of blood. I saw tears welling in his eyes. I was still baffled that he was actually born and I cried a little upon seeing my hubby teared.

It is indeed a very surreal and amazing experience! I will go through again even though my episotomy hurts and I have to sit on those rubber rings so I won't have to add pressure to my perinum area.

How long can I completely not feel the pain? I hate to drink those stools softener to poo!!
Milk came in today and able to express 2.5 ounces. Can feel the breasts feeling tender...I have to pump more to prevent serious engorgement.

Missed talking to you all in the forum and MSN!
I have been super busy with my little girl Denise. She has been rather cranky these days and likes to be carry to sleep, she doesn't like to be left alone, else she will cry for attention

My whole day is revolving around changing diapers, feeding her, carrying her, or simply watching and talking to her. She will only sleep on her own if she's really tired out. But everytime she smiles at me or try to "talk" to me, i feel so happy and contented

Times flies...Denise will be having her full month next week

Really looking forward to watch her grow, learn to crawl, walk and interact more with us.

i normally pick my girl up and place her head on my lower arm (elbow area), mine is also not much flesh but it doesn't really matter. I hold her close to my breast (left side) making sure her cheek is touching my breast because she can listen to my heartbeat

I placed my right hand beneath her buttock and rock her.

The lowest one is not flat but at almost 15 degrees. The place where baby's legs supposed to be, the 'hole' very big leh. Even 'buckle up' I am still afraid baby will 'slip' thru ... Any solution??

The pain lasted for abt 2 weeks. Even now (3rd week), it still hasn't healed completely.

I try to bathe my girl after 1st week, i even write down the procedure! For eg. what should be done first. My hubby is the one teaching me to bathe girl girl.

Congrats on your baby boy! Are you or hubby tall? 54cm is quite a length! My episiotomy stitches ached for a few days. I only took the painkillers when i was in TMC. Once discharged, i didn't take the painkillers liao..movement was awkward the first few days, but i didn't sit on the rubber ring, even though i bought one. I felt more uncomfortable sitting on it...I saw WK Tan 12 days after birth. by that time, stitches not pain liao, but i could feel the knots of the stitches. Once WK tan removed the stitches, immediately cannot feel anything liao

ero, i do feel pain esp when i stretched myself 2 much. dun noe whether it's my imagination or not coz i saw tat my wound had healed veri nicely oledi. as 4 d tightening sensation when i pee, it's kinda of lessen oledi. it was quite painful 4 d 1st few days after i was discharged.

anissa, no leh. mine doesn't drip all d time. it oni drips when i m 2 lazy 2 pump it out & it engorges.

Me too feel pain sometime, but its somewhere above the wound and more at the left side. I guess it's not the external wound pain but maybe something inside (eg. muscle etc.) Especially after binding for the massage. Currently my massage/binding is alternate day.
They say the inner wound needs 6mth to heal completely. I wonder when can we do excercise like swimming. .

for those who attended childbirth classes at TMC, the steps for bathing baby are in Mrs Wong's Childbirth book. We refer to that book pretty often.

we bought Drypers. But trying to finish Fitti Basic & Pampers Comfort that were given in hampers. We dun mind continuing with Drypers, unless other brands got offer. I heard Petpet is quite cheap, dunno how good it works?

i dun use breast pads at home - save $$!! i just stuff tissue whenever i feel let-down.. sometimes i'm a bit too slow, so my milk drips all over & kena clothes & floor =PP
If u're worried abt expenses, why dun u get reusable pads? Just wash & can use again mah.

I was also quite sad that i din experience natural... show, water breaking, irregular contractions etc. I would've enjoyed the anticipation.
Process to induce: I was 1cm dilated at gynae chkup. Upon admission on 21/7 nite, i went to ward (not birthing room) & pressary ($80 pill) was inserted to soften & dilate cervix further. Can't get out of bed for 1hr. I didn't feel any discomfort with it inside me. Next morning 9am went to birthing room. Gynae came to do internal exam & said no progress, so insert another pressary. 11am dilated to 2cm. Gynae happy & break waterbag (this hurts like MAD). Had lunch. Nurses started drip 1pm to bring on the contractions (ie induce). The rest is like normal birth lor... contractions build up, nurses keep chking whether u want pain relief, regular chk for dilation etc. For me, after 9hrs (ie 10pm), i still remained at 2cm. Gynae said no point to wait coz cervix not ready at all - she strongly suggested C-section, o'wise the waiting could go on for days and end up distressing the baby. So we agreed to proceed with C-section. Since it wasn't emergency, gynae let me choose date. I asked for my baby to be born on 23/7 - same birthday as me.
Extra charges?? Too many items to list for u.. they'll charge u for the pressary, the inducing drip, too many hours in the birthing room also incur extra charges. Yes, extra charge for C-section. I think if emergency also got extra emergency charge!! Hospital charge for everything lah. Not like hotels, can throw in free champagne.
Try natural lor.. at 10pm when decision was made to go C-section, all the midwives were worried that i'd be upset - they kept assuring me "at least you tried natural, it just didn't work out". Actually i not upset at all, coz baby same birthday as me... hee hee

Ya lor, i also thought no need to remove stitches..so primitive..somemore me and triniti's gynae is not cheap one leh, and quite well known somemore..thought they would use those stitching that can dissolve by itself one...and i think i got quite a few stitches. Cause baby quite big, and gynae took quite long to stitch me up. When she remove/cut the stitches, i counted she cut about 8 or 9 times. so i guess that means i had about 8 or 9 stitches?

hi mummytobe, me also feel i'm cutting into my bb's head with my arm bone.. the ear actually rests on the bone for me, and i somehow feel that i've caused a depression onto his ear bone n the side of his head... but dunno how else to carry leh.. am still trying to figure a way out. but bb doesn't seem uncomfortable, except during feeding time when he wriggles around n lets out sounds of fustration sometimes, dunno if it's bcos of position cos i also carry same way when comforting him n he doesn't complain...

wendy, i tried a drypers sample, and shit leaked out from the back waistline... dunno if it's bcos i did not secure it properly, but dun dare to try again. the cutting is smaller than pampers premium hor? anyway, i've got another drypers M size, so will venture again.. how much is drypers? I bought a pack of pet pet from Prime. will prob try next week. I've also tried Huggies Dry Comfort samples.. the cut is similar to Drypers... Zephan can fit into the M size liao... he has not shit into that yet, but i noticed that there is a contour at the back to prevent leakage. But it feels bulky when wet, unlike pampers n nepia.

I think baby getting startled is a norm, but its better to put beansprout pillow on her chest to calm her down esp when she's sleeping. For me, I put on his chest & letting him sleep sideway.. so he'll feel more secure.

yes yes.. my Keyon also got soft lump on top left of head ... like got water inside.. he was sucked out by vacuum. PD says will only go off in 1-2 mths.
I keep massaging tt part, seems reduce a lttle...hope will go off soon.

My baby girl also using Nepia and Pampers Premium currently. I find nepia ok but pampers premium not as good as i expected leh..yesterday, my girl girl pee pee a lot at once (when wearing pampers premium) and when she sleep on the side, the urine leaked out and wet my bed!! lucky no smell heh..i tot what was that wet patch, and somemore went to smell it kekeke )

i also tried Fitti on her, but the cutting is a bit smaller. We also tried Huggies (red) and Drypers on her...i find drypers so so and huggies the material very hard leh. Today she poo poo a lot at once, and it leaked out of the Huggies (red). So not going to use it again.

I think Mamy Poko is not bad, absorbent and soft...so now am going to use Nepia and Mamy Poko on her only i guess...
