(2003) Calling all 2003 babies

Joanne: i suggest you call the doc and ask her, so that you won't be worrying for nothing.

i just checked the MOE web, and found out for this year registration under Phase 2C, schools like NanYang , RGS & MGS , number reg not too bad, in fact still got chance to get into NanYang even without doing PV!

Dont tink we can make it for duck tour on Friday because C finishes her class at 11.15 and straight after that she has piano lesson, sorry.

Ky: it's a bit far to walk from function room to our block, so will not advise you to use the oven at Serenade's place. Unless we can heat up all pizzas at one go, using both ovens at her and my place, then we don't have to make many rounds from our place to function room.

hi hi ... dropping a quick note b4 i go zzz. discussed with hubby and decided to bring fried rice :>

.ky.

hi moshimoshi!

Thanks for the card!!!
happy.gif

Will pm you our address here.

Have a fun this Saturday with the quiz and the crafts with the kids.

hi chloe!

oops... de la salle is now co-ed... maybe we should really think about moving...

from now onwards, the no. of babies were decreasing... 02, 03, 04, 05... at least. I can't say about 06 anymore... I think the lowest year was 04. So let's hope with that it's not so diff to get our children into the schools we want.

Hi Joanne,
Hope it's nothing serious. But do monitor and consult doc if you are worried.

Hi Sheryln,
There are many types of readers. You can try either September21 or Edventure. Popular has some series too. Check out the Essentials Readers from September21. It's value for money.

Hi 4ChongChong,
Will the curry be spicy? Don't think many of the kids can take spicy stuff. Can make the curry children friendly?

Hi jpooh,
Hope Rachel is feeling better now.

Hi moshimoshi,
Moi's fridge will be waiting for your cake.
happy.gif
Hmm, thought I will be seeing your husband. Well, next time...

sarah
paulina has sm questions abt the duck tour, sent u an email, thanks.

serenade
NDP:any chance for tables and chairs for kiddies? would be good for the card making and meals ;)
moi's hub nothing like shawn, u ain;t missing much keke ok ok give him some credit, let's just say he's a hardworking man who does housework, heehee

hi moshi,
yah it's charlene who is sick. the doctor prescribed the antibiotics. he's typically very cautions about giving it as he prefers the kids to build up their own immunity.

btw, dont think i will be bringing flags and bubbles
sad.gif
the shop i went to sells only mini cloth flags, v nice but pricey. i was looking for those small bottles of bubbles but they also dont sell.

Hi moshimoshi,
Doubt there's enough tables and chairs to go round in the function room. Will be getting plastic sheets (for painting) for the floor. Hope it will be more relaxing and comfy this way.

Hi Sarah,
Just realise your hubby is not joining us too. Thought he was coming initially?

Hi Serena,
I wouldn't worry abt the men. This time, the kids are confined within the room. They need not watch out for them, more time to chit chat among themselves...

Hi Mommies,
Re duck tour. To clarify some points.

S$450+gst/31 pax = S$15.53 per pax

Since all paying pax will get a seat, I thought it will be easier to calculate based on per head rather than paying child/adult. You get to see the cost savings. 1a1c will pay abt S$32 instead of usual S$50.
As for toddlers (0-2yrs old), maybe just S$2 or none. Perhaps we can calculate actual cost per pax till we meet the 31pax requirement?

Mommies, what do you think?

Duck Tour, pls add 2A+1C for me. Sarah, wouldn't max of 31pax include toddler, or does it mean the toddler doesn't get a seat? I think a more impt question is the # of life jackets to go around, and hence max # is 31. kwim?

If it's just S$2 or none, then pls add 1T for me. If it's S$15.53, then don't.

K's mom ... nope :>. I'm not ... just voicing this out coz I wanted to when I was preggie but was told I couldn't ...

.ky.

NDP:
Chloe, don;t worry abt flags n bubbles, we can do without them, how abt u lead the kids for some action songs or games? heehee

i would also need a volunteer to guide the kids in decorating the cake, my hands are full with card making n the quiz. Just let each take a strawberry, marshmallow etc and put on cake, as to the design, it's ur call. anyone?

serenade
paint on floor, brilliant!

hi moshi,
it'll be my first time handling my 2 kids on my own, don't stress me further lah
happy.gif
think i will end up chasing charlene around, she is at the age where it is quite impossible to reason sometimes!

joanne, sad to hear about Benny. Hope it's nothing serious. I'm sure your prayers at the temple would be answered. Don't stress yourself.
I know where you're coming from. Normally we would turn to the big guy up there when there's nothing much we can do down here.

It seems that my girl is down with a little flu. If it doesn't get any better, will probably not go for the ND gathering. I believe it's a confined space so flu will have plenty of opportunity to thrive in there. Don't want her to spread it around to the other kids.

hi all

terribly sorry, I may not be able to join you all this Sat, thinking to bring my dad for healing service because he is quite " depressed" at home. Today he came to TTSH for a blood test, and this pm, I received a call to say his Potassium level is too high! So I had to go buy med and drive to JB to deliver the med to my dad because they don't have such med in JB!

I am getting very stressed these days because have to look after my dad as well as my little C has been attention seeking! She has been crying heaps when I drop her in the morning, and this morning I had to spend about an hour to coax her!

I will still try to make curry for Sat if I can, otherwise I can buy something to contribute since it's so last minute.... very pai seh...

Hi Serenade,

Thanks for the info. For one moment, i thot i m not gog to get any answers. Will go into research very soon , ie later.

hi all

Rachel and I will be there on 4 Aug with Fried Been Hoon.

Hi Sherlyn
Thanks for the offer and will call you later in the day.

Hi Sherlyn,

Hi Sherlyn,
If you are intending to get books from September21 or Edventure, be sure to wait for their sales. Otherwise, you can join Edventure as a member (S$5) and enjoy 10% discount. I believe there should be some book sales soon in September. Happy surfing for books

Hi 4ChongChong,
Tend to your dad's needs first. There's always other gatherings. Will you be bringing C along to JB? If not, why not let her join the party with your helper? I can help to look out for her.

Hi Ky,
I was secretly hoping you could lead the activities and a big THANKS for offering! Based on my observation at the BBQ, you are no doubt the best choice. Perhaps we can start with a get-to-know-you session for the kids? Remember the game you played with them with the ball and names? I think it's a very cool idea!

Hi Serena,
Oops, hope Adabel's flu is not too bad. Do let her rest well.

Hi all,

We have finally registered our twins yday and they are called Charlton and Royston. Not Ryan for twin 2 cos I really wan something end with on. Was telling myself if I plan the next one and it's a ger, will name her Shannon.
Aston-Charlton-Royston-Shannon !!!!!!!

Wow, Apricot, so brave , still planning for number 4. But ok for you, got a very caring and helpful hubby.

My gal got the Dora activity set .. shd hv gotten the Dora doll for her instead since she is so young. My boy had a charlotte web connect 4 game .. thou for 3+ but he still do not know how to play even thou we teach. He keep wanting to win!

i asked cos i m expecting more haha. I hv seen gifts like files or plastic carriers given by Cathay for route to HK .. next time wanna try cathay.

Oh they are given the Dora watch and a pair of Dora slippers for the TO trip cos we went in real late. They must hv distributed all the goodies. Shouldnt they keep a set for all kiddos ? :)

Serenade .. ok will wait for their sales. The essential readers from Sept21 is on "offer" now, but it is alot of books for the whole 3 sets, 150 books. I am not good at all these, so maybe look ard to get a feel before commitment and also look into amazon like what Priscilla suggest too.

Wow, Sherlyn !! You have Dora watch and Dora slippers. Dora is my niece's fav & she will faint if I pass her these.
DH also got better SQ gifts when he travels in SQ to USA two yrs back. He told them he did not have time buy gifts & they gave him Snoopy crayons, Snoopy bottle holder & Spongebog passport cover.

Hi Sherlyn, Apricot

I got the spongebob toys for my kids when we went HK too. Didn't know SQ got Dora now - my gal (and me!) likes the character too. wa, the slippers must be really nice..! During my business trips, I also ask for the gifts for the kiddos too.
biggrin.gif
I like the bags, bottleholders and activity sets like Snoopy colour-a-cup. Can setup a shop with the snoopy stuff toys as don't open those!

Serenade ... the ball game was my helper's idea... ok, that's her task for the night ... to help me think of ideas ... heehee. maybe I'll ask her to lead, then I can bond with K ... hehehe

Sherlyn, I'll also suggest getting 2nd-hand or borrow from library to test out kids' interest, rather than investing in an expensive set. If you monitor the sprees, u can find sometimes there are book sprees. I went to Sept21 and now am getting from Amazon some of those I've wanted but find it too ex here.

Apricot, u r already thinking of 4th kid .... bravo! Singapore loves u!

For SQ gifts, I used to get a lot from my neighbour coz she flies with them. But I keep only the useful ones, for the soft toys, I'll give away. too bad, she's not flying anymore

.ky.

hi mommies,
bad news is charlene's flu is still quite bad, her nose's dripping non stop. good news is hubby's class will end 6ish tomorrow, so he can help take care of her. i will turn up with just chloe, but we may be quite late about 7ish.

hi apricot,
WOW 4th child??? Kudos to you
happy.gif

Wow... sounds like you all are quite lucky to get gifts even when the children are not on board.

For the Frankfurt-Sg leg we flew, the SQ fight attendants didn't get the kids anything at all... Poor B was drooling all over the other kid's Dora activity set (next to me another kid)with envy. Told my son to ask himself, coz that would have been more appropriate than us parents doing the asking. but he was too shy to ask... so too bad for him. All forgotten by busy flight attendants
sad.gif
For the return leg, there was a sweet flight attendant who came back with an extra teddy for B on top of his Dora watch and Charlotte's web game. And K got her Dora doll and the game set too. So I guess that compensated a bit for them. They were so looking forward to getting something...

i think other airlines are pretty good these days too. Qantas hands out little magna-doodle boards. I think that's something more practical than just a soft toy... haha, this Mommy here isn't a soft toy person.

Wow... apricot!

You are certainly brimming with pride and joy of motherhood!

I wish I could have more children too... And I would certainly if I could skip the pregnancy stage, the terrible twos, trying threes... and a promise that my babies would be great sleepers and eaters... why not?!!! I think my patience is already wearing thin with my two... so really, kudos to you!

A mom of five told this once to me:
When you grow old, no one is gonna care how rich you are. No one will ask you: Old lady, how much money you've got? But everyone will ask you: Old granny, how many children (and grandchildren) do you have?

hi mommies,

anyone brought their kiddos to Melbourne before? can share what's nice to do there? i'm planning a last min trip...thanks.

Hi Apricot, lucky mummy!

Hi k's mom, I would like more children too..actually my ideal is 3. But it's a logistic nightmare - just the daily ferrying them to and from school. Both of us are barely coping now with 2 kids with no other support. Was just talking over lunch with a friend today that there should be a chaperone service for young children of working parents to bring them back home everyday. You know, make use of trusted aunties and grandma in the neighbourhood. There is a viable biz case!

read this, quite interesting...

Amzanig huh? Yaeh and yuo awlyas thuohgt slpeling was ipmorantt.

Chloe, I came across this 2 years ago. I was convinced that phonics was not the only method to teach reading. A combination of method will achieve optimal results.

Thanks serenade, KY, worrymum for your concern for my girl. I hope you gals enjoy yourselves.
Ky, now got less people don't worry too much about the food. Should be enough.

Hi chloe!

Yaeh, I raed taht bofere! ;) Qiute amzaing, ins't it?

Sometimes I wonder too if B learns to recognise a word in this way.

That is typically what I will do when I'm confronted with a totally new language, esp one with Cyrillic origins and it's impossible to pronounce - so hey, no phonics there!
