. He is getting very frustrated with the heavy cast and got strained arms and blue black marks cos of the weight. As mentioned, we are thinking of getting another specialist since the date given by NUH is like two weeks later. We just hv to know roughly when will the injury recover cos need to tell his "new job" and see if the "new boss" want to wait.

All the talking abt mathstart and other readers make me very worried again hehe. So serena, next month when go? wondering if we can go together.... but did u say mathstart has 21 books per level costing at $130 per level and there are more then a level?

btw, Little Company is having a play (or is it not?) call "emperor's new clothes". Any one here interested?

Been v tired these two nights .. now too ..

Sherlyn, the one level of Mathstart has 21 books for $135 and there are 3 different levels that I saw on Sep21 website. A more details one is shown on mathstart website itself which has an illustration about each book.

Yes Sherlyn, like what Pris says there are 3 levels and all the story evolves math concepts like measurement, area etc.. I think it's an interesting way to teach maths. You must have a look at the books then you will know what we're talking about. Hmm.. the prices of books in Sept 21 are not cheap. Ya, we can go together. Will sms for details. I bot the Fitzroy guided reading 5 "thin" books for $138. I couldn't afford the full set because there are total 60 over books.

Pris, I saw someone posting on learning Japanese in other threads. Look out for it.

Thanks Pris.

Hi Serena,

Wow, 5 "thin" books aredi $138 ..

today I just ask the teacher what reader my boy used. Its from the publisher Macmillan (australia company). Its also a very thin book and its a sentence per page, total 8 sentences only..

I hope I can go with you. There got "playground" to entertain the kids or not? hehe

Hi Apricot,

on drawing class..

Found out Blk925 Hougang St 91 offering 10sessions @ $70. every mon from 7+. Interested?

i have yet to check out Parkway Parade..

Sher, no playground. It's in an industrial estate. Btw, I forgot $138 includes one workbook too. Just the reader set is $79. If my memory don't fail me, should be 5 books. Need to go home and check again. I think they also sell erasable board for kids to practise writing.

Serena, let me know too, when you are planning to go to Sep21 again, I am interested too.

Which thread, can you recall? Thanks.

K's mum, did not manage to call your parents as I was with my mum for her review at NUH the whole morning till late noon.

Hi Serena & Priscilla,
I went to Sep21 this afternoon & bought some character building books & a set of Oxford readers on promotion (90books for $178). Wanted to buy maths start but later change my mind.

Hi Sherlyn,
I plan to buy tickets for Emperor's New clothes on the last day show Apr19 cos it's for A's birthday treat. How abt you ? Which day u plan to go ?

Hi Chloe & Pris,

Thanks for recommending the gynae. Will call them up and check on their availability.

Hi Serena,
Did you get the accompanied audio CD for Fitzroy Readers? The CDs are great for the kids to read along with.

No serenade, I didn't know it comes with Audio CD too. I guess you must have fitzroy at home too? You really invest alot in books!!

Wow! Apricot, that's a steal! 90books imagine!! Too bad I missed the deal and I've got the Fitzroy books now. 90 books must be the full set??

apricot
mel's going for emperor's new clothes with the sch, i tried searching for the book at the library, no luck.
may try the bookshop.
viv, sarah, may i borrow the book if u have it?

For those attending Little Red Hen:
check out the red hen craft in Feb's Singapore's Child.

or check out the birthday page and spring a surprise for your kid by sending in his photo and a loving message. did that for mel last yr.

for the little picassos, u can send in their drawings!

I am planning a yakult factory visit 30 May 2008 from 10am to 11.30am. I need to confirm with them as soon as possible as it is first come first serve. So call me at my hp.

Hi Serena,
Fitroy is also good.
Yap, the promotion price is for 3sets of 90 books.
I did not ask for the individual set and seriously I do not know why I did not ask. I was there for 6hrs. The books are expensive and still expensive even with the member discounts. But still better than nothing. I start to eliminate the books to buy and after see two teachers bot the oxford readers so I ask them questions why they buy and finally decide to buy.
I think it was the high frequency words that appear in set A and it was important for weak readers to be exposed to these words. But mathematically, one book cost around $2 and very worthwhile for my 3 kiddos. So I buy

Apricot, maybe i shd stay near u .. then I really no nid to buy books, can just borrow from you. Maybe you can start a private library

As for the play, I hv not decide leh. not sure if they will be interested .. usually these stuff that require money, i take a long time to consider hahahaha

now u made me itch for the oxford books, so worth it leh .. but then got to find a place to house all the books wor .. somemore with my dh hand like that, no driver to go to those industrial sites .. Serena, anyway you gog earlier with all those temptation?

Serena, 5 books and 10 books is alot of difference leh hehehe .. so 10 books for that price, still affordable to you lah

Hi Pris ... Kai's in the afternoon school? how do you plan to squeeze in the enrichments? I planned to go yakult factory trip before but forgot ... May's no good for me. if your trip is in June. let me know, I'll be keen to join.

.ky.

Wow.. all the talks about books make me panic.. have not been doing anything with my B yet.

lazy mummy here! hehe..

Mathstart - wow. happened to browse thru the website. So tempting, mummies did you gals ever ask for BP? any special discount?

Sarah, it is in senoko, own transport, visit is free. And can buy the packet of yakult from the factory.

KY, Kai's class is from 11.30am to 2.30pm. So his enrichment and other classes will be after 3.30pm onward. Like planning for him to go for music at 7-7.30pm.

I might not be here in June and there are not more slot from March till May except 29 or 30 May. So I book on 30 May in case parents taking leave so can have long weekend.

Worry_mum, I atm transfer money to you already.

Will not be around for March Holiday, going to Genting for a break.

So far, I have the following interested for the Yakult Trip, I need to confirm with the person in charge by giving them the number going, the slot will be given away if we do not confirm by next week.

Anyone interested in Gardenia Factory Tour?
They are available for the Factory Tour in the afternoon from 3-4pm and on Mon to Fri except thursday and public holiday.

I am asking for available date for March and April excluding the public holiday.

Hi Worrymum,
Abt BP on mathstart. I forget to mention that I was asking the COO of Sep21 if he "entertain" BP.
He did not reject the idea and I thot of organising this BP after I draft out my proposal to him over this weekend.

Yap, Priscilla, that's the pack I bot. The lady jus confirmed to me that they do not sell single pack and will correct the website information by tomorrow.

Hi Priscilla,
Ready, get set and jus go !! Ha ha..
I am sure you will find the books there appeal to you. Abt this package, actually I find them quite similiar to Edventure where the topics cover general knowlege, science, nature, fiction and non fiction stories but exactly how different or same I cannot really comment becos I do not have apples to appples to compare. There are many readers there to chose from few publishers and I feel it's like we girls buy clothes and our tastes are different. I like Fitzroy too and in the end buy Essentials becos I saw teachers buying them.

anyone any idea how to recover photos from a data CD which is obviously broken?

i lost a whole chunk of memories in the months of september and october. I'm really frustrated with myself now...

now i really have no pics/videos to show the kids when they're older that they were apple picking, at the pumpkin patch and school field trips. Sigh!

Look for a program called zero recovery that can help you recovery if not 100% but at least 99%.

I went through that too in Vancouver and was so frustrated and angry with myself.

Hi Sherlyn,

Here's my feedback on Night Safari. We went on a Friday night and it was a Family Night, and so my views could be skewed. It was very crowded and we spend a lot of time queuing to get into the show. It's very similar to the zoo's. The design of the traffic flow is quite bad, with people going in for the next show having to wait for those who are coming out from the prev to clear first, and the entire place felt very stuffy. We had to wait 1/2 hr beforehand, and for kids who need to go to toilet, the toilets are beyond the queue, towards the amphitheatre and staff actually asked us to wait if we can.

The tram ride was not as exciting as what we've remembered. Perhaps old already or too used to a closeup of animals at the zoo, the lights were too dimly lit, some with no signage of the animal exhibits and the tram moved too fast for us to take a good glimpse at them. The tram was pit dark and ride was longer than expected. Warning should have been given, I feel, esp on it being pitch dark. Quite disappointed at the place, actually. But like what I said, it was a Family Day and a weekend so it's really crowded. But my family prefered the zoo ... you get to stroll around at your own pace, see animals in feeding, take photos of animals (and not just big faces of yourself in the tram.

Hi Priscilla,
Too bad, I miss the yakult factory visit, come in too late today. Are you organising the Gardenia bread visit ? Let me know via pm & I can sms you my contact and thanks.

I need to know anyone interested to go for Gardenia Factory Tour?

It will be on a weekday from 3pm to 4.30pm. We will need a 30 persons to visit Gardenia Factory.

Hi Serenade!

I was wondering if you order the Reading Rods pack directly from Learning Resources or was it via Teachers' Themepark or Sep 21?
Or did Learning Resources do direct shipment to France, when you were still there? Any additional custom duties?

Hi Pris!

Thanks for the recommendation. Will definitely remember that programme. I managed to recover my photos... Actually, it's been misplaced in other folders... I really had to search for them. Keying file names was difficult since i don't label my photos and they go by numbers. Anyway, managed to find them!
