Hi ladies,

I missed my period for a week and just tested positive, should I visit the gyne already?

Or wait a while more, since I'm about 5 weeks only.

Thanks in advance, my #1 so I'm a blur stong.

Hello, congrats. Now that you have a confirmation, i suggest you start to indentify a hospital and also a gynac you want to work with you. Of cos if you prefer subsidise rate, then just go to any poly clinic of your choice and then they will give you an appoint to see a gynac, because it is at a subsidise rate, you will not get to choose doctor and also when you give birth, you will also not be allow to choose A ward (Single bedder room)

all the best

I arranged for an appointment in week 7. that's when you are likely to see baby's heartbeat. in the meantime, take folic acid supplement if you haven't already.

I see. Need to start looking for hospital so early? I'm intending to go for the nearest gyne first to confirm while researching more for gyne and hospital.

I've been taking folic acid, perhaps visit gyne end of this week for next. May I know how do you all select your gyne?

Hi mummy, if you just want to confirm your pregancy, you can just pop by any GP near your place.

It is a good idea to research on gyna & hospital before setting up appt.

Cheers,

Hello,

This is my 2nd pregancy, my hubby & i decided that we are only going to trust KKH this time round. Therefore this help us to zoom in to 1 hospital and also a smaller pool of gynac. I want my hubby to overnight with me during the 3-4 days of the delivery, this means that i need A ward and my insistance of this choice of ward, i disqualified myself from subsidy status and have no choice got to be under "Private" patient status.

Due to the major screwed up near death episode for me during the 1st pregancy, my hubby insist that we should only pick from the pool of Senior consultant, since this is the highest ranking catagory in KKH definition, he is making the "assumption" that these folks are "suppose" to be most experience & knowledgable.

From the small pool of senior consultant KKH gynac, we jointly decide to choose pick one of them and so far, i am happy with his service. (I apologies i will not share his name at this moment beco i have not use this gynac successfully and therefore prefer not "reccommend" to anyone just yet.

Happy choosing a gynac is as follows:

1) Go to MOH website to have a look at the price statistic that they collect from all the hospital in Singapore,, natural, C section, ward type etc. Discuss with your hubby the budget.

2) Consult ppl who you know in person and trust a lot, ask them to give you a few reccommendation that they have personally use before.

All the best

I choose Gynae out of convenience. I live in Outram so I choose SGH, which is not a popular choice, they only have 6 maternity wards. I walked to the hospital on the day of delivery! I choose from their pool of Doctors available. I was also under private scheme where you will have a fixed doctor. my Husband insisted on a female senior consultant. so choose based on your own preference and also by word-of-mouth. you can change Gynae if you feel uncomfortable with him/her.

Congrats, I went to see a private gynae to confirm if I am pregnant cos my hubby doesn't trust the the pregnancy kit. Haha.. When the dr did the US scan, I am in my 5 wks. That why I need to quickly decide on which gynae to see and hospital.
In the end, I chose KKH as I have present of ovarian cyst and is always following up at KKH. So KKH will have all my records which I will feel safe. Beside, KKH is specialist on kids.
I am seeing Dr Khoo Chong Kiat from TPS. Very nice friendly dr and will answer all your queries. Any questions, can email to him and he will reply you via what's app. Which I did that.

My friend just given birth in TMC and her bb vomited some blood and when bring back to TMC and stay 1 night, the bill is coming to 2k. Medisave only deduct $450 and the remaining in cash.

Whichever the case, you can first just see a gynae near ur hse to double comfirm on ur pregnancy then slowly do research and discuss with your hubby which hospital you prefer.

Gd luck!! Enjoy your pregnancy progress.

Congrats!

I think selection of gynae depends alot on individual.

Some people read alot of forum for recommendation on good gynae and choose their hospital based on where the gynae delivers.

Some people choose their gynae based on their preferred hospital.

Some likes convenient so they choose the nearest gynae and go along with the choice of hospital available.

Some choose by word of mouth, like I did, from close friends and family members.

What you should consider, in my opinion, is whether you are going to opt for natural birth or elective c-section. Some gynae are pro natural birth and will persuade you into it, this could be rather stressful if you are considering elective c-section. Some people likes their gynae actively giving information and advices, some like me prefers the gynae to not be so "naggy" so... It all depends on how your character is and what you want of this pregnancy.

A gynae who doesnt suit your character could be rather stressful! And that is the last thing you want to affect your mood during pregnancy~ My two cents worth :)

Usually is by word-of-mouth and recommended by friends after good experience. I changed mine from Raffles to TMC few years ago as I don't find the chemistry with the Raffles Gynae. Also my friend was very happy with her Gynae at TMC.
