Christmas 2020: 20++ fun places to find the X’mas Spirit in Singapore this festive season
Can you believe it? It’s Christmas 2020 already. Where did the year go? Whether you’re opting to keep things quiet this year, or planning an all-out celebration to mark the occasion, here are some places in Singapore to soak in the Christmas spirit and celebrate all things merry and bright. We’ll continue adding to this list as more events are announced so do check back regularly for more festive fun ideas.
:: New :: Have a Sci-Sational Christmas at the Science Centre
It’s a magical season at the Science Centre Singapore with Sci-Sational Christmas! We attended this series of scientifically-curated Christmas activities and workshops last year, and learnt a lot while having so much fun. Can’t wait to go for this year’s as well, which has elves painting Santa’s workshop with a splash of Liquid Nitrogen in A Supercool Sci-Sational Christmas Show! Kids can also make holiday candles, an LED light-up Christmas card, and also go on a trail to help Santa on his Christmas journey!

:: New :: Sketch Christmas at Future World
If you’ve not been to Future World yet, you’re in for a treat. The exhibition, created in collaboration with TeamLab, takes visitors on a wondrous journey though themed digital installations. Kids love Sketch Town, where they can see their drawings come to live from wall to wall! This December, Sketch Town transforms into Sketch Christmas, a virtual Christmas Wonderland. Kids can bring their favourite Santa Claus to life watch him deliver special gifts to everyone in the winter wonderland!

1. Dine in a bubble dome at Capitol and CHIJMES
Note: Bookings are full at the moment, but check back in case of cancellations. Score major points with the kids by giving them an experience they’ll never forget — dining in one of the whimsical see-through igloo-style bubble domes at Capitol Singapore’s Outdoor Plaza or at The Lawn at CHIJMES. 2. Enter a Christmas Wonderland at Capitol Singapore
Visit the Land of Snowflakes here, meet Nutcracker soldiers, and have fun figuring out the 3D trick-eye installation. Travel to a winter wonderland with thrice-nightly snowfall, and let your heart and mind sing as you enjoy piped-in carolling by Voices of Singapore at the 8-metre tall Capitol Kempinski Singing Tree.
Browse for the perfect festive gift at the Land of Sweets, at the Arcade @ The Capitol Kempinski and the retail mall where there are Christmas booths showcasing holiday gifts, fashion and lifestyle items as well as food products that will put smiles on everyone’s faces. 3. Feel the magic at CHIJMES
Step into a Land of Flowers here, where you can also dine in a dome (make your reservations early) under a canopy of fairy lights. As the sun sets, the lights and music come up, and Nutcracker-themed Christmas scenes are projected on the facade of CHIJMES Hall. Whether you’re dining, or just strolling and taking photos, it’s bound to be a magical evening under the stars!

Travel to Changi Festive Village
Christmas has come to Changi and visitors are spoilt for choice when it comes to experiences here. From ginormous dinosaur displays to a winter holiday house at Terminal 3, a fun carnival at Terminal 4, and unique behind-the-scenes experiences around the airport, this is one festive celebration that you won’t want to miss.
4. See a Sparkling Christmas at Jewel
There’s no missing the 16-metre tall Christmas tree at the Shiseido Forest Valley, which marks your entry into Santa’s Workshop. Here, find out how Santa’s helpers prepare for season’s festivities. Over at Canopy Park (charges apply), find the photo spots to pose with, and keep a lookout for giveaways every hour (tip: they’ll be at the carts!). If you managed to get a slot to go glamping at Jewel’s Cloud9 Piazza and Shiseido Forest Valley, or for the overnight family stays at Changi Experience Studio, congrats, and enjoy!

5. T3: Take ‘flight’ on Air tokidoki
Take ‘flight’ in a tokidoki-themed plane cabin for picture-perfect shots with your favourite tokidoki characters! There’s also a retail pop-up where you can shop for all things tokidoki.

6. T3: Go on a tokidoki snow holiday
Meet Kaiju and his tokidoki friends at Singapore’s largest double-storey snow house. Put on some winter wear, ride on a snow luge or slide down a snow slide, build a snow man, and enjoy the light and sound show. Each session consists of 20min of briefing and preparation and 20 min of play time. 7. T3: Visit the Dino Wanderland
Get up close and personal with nine majestic and life-like dinosaurs, and have a roar-some good time! 8. T4: Race a Dino Kart
Rev up for the first-ever airport go-kart race! This exhilarating and heart-pumping experience is open to all from age 9, 1.3m in height. You’ll have to be wearing covered shoes too, though helmets are provided. 9. T4: Dino Bounce
Dinosaurs are adorable? Oh yes, if they are the ones at this massive dino-themed Bouncy Castle! Let little ones work off their energy at the two specially curated play zones – Dino Bounce Land and Dino Bounce Sea. Keep those cameras ready! Note: Each 20-minute slot includes a five-minute briefing. This is best for children aged five to 12 years old, with a minimum height of 1 metre. 10. Visit the ChariTrees

13. Kids! Charge Up with Bloom!
This is a fun educational programme for children that focuses on the 3Rs — reducing, reusing and recycling. Kids and families go on an outdoor garden trail to find out how the Gardens’ Plantkeepers do their part to conserve our environment through the use of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle (3R) practices in their daily activities, and learn the simple practices they themselves can adopt in their daily lives to to make a positive impact on the environment. Share your 3R pledge to sustainability, and be rewarded at the end of the quest as you help Everlasting Eric charge up his Supertrees!

14. Surround yourself in a Floral Fantasy
Get your cameras ready as this extremely photogenic attraction has re-opened in time for the festive season. Come see who preserved, dried, and fresh flowers such as orchids, begonias, fuchsias, impatiens, and more, are put together in scenes of floral artistry – perfect for that ‘gram. 16. Have a SEAASON of Rediscovery at S.E.A. Aquarium

21. See magical pinwheels and dinosaurs at ION Orchard

26. March into A Christmas Story at VivoCity
It’s a shopper’s dream as VivoCity goes virtual with four nights of fun at its first ever Christmas Livestream Fiesta where you can enjoy discounts, take part in giveaways, and collect lifestyle tips from well known personalities. 27. HighFive with Singa at Waterway Point
Choose kind all day, everyday, but most of all, at Waterway Point this season, which partners the Singapore Kindness Movement to spread the Christmas spirit to one and all. Take a #HighFive photo with the four-metre tall Singa Christmas Tree and post it on Instagram with a message that spreads kindness, encouragement and positivity. Remember to include the official campaign hashtags “#High5Singa” and “#WWPXmas20”.
