    Hi Yasmin,

    how was the check up?

I'm in my 7th week now. Will be going for check up this Friday. Hopefully get to see/hear baby's haertbeat cos the last scan could only see the sac and yolk. Also had brownish discharge which has stopped now.....so hopefully everything is ok. So worried.

  5. yasmin

    yasmin Member

ya,anxious right until you see the heartbeat? The c/up was good. same thing.only the sac. going again next week since my gynae will be away the week after. insha allah, can see heartbeat if not must wait until Oct *faint*

I have a cyst in my left ovary though, so my gynae is monitoring. It seems its common during pregnancy. But I didn't have it for my 1st one so a bit worried. Is this your 1st baby?

I'm seeing Dr Adelina Wong at TMC, how about you?

  6. yasmin

    yasmin Member

hehe...just saw that you are in the apr MTB thread as well [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

Yeah super anxious. Just need to know what's going on in there. Heh.

All the best for next week's scan. Hopefully you'll see the heartbeat next week. Your next appt is in Oct? wow...that's quite some time from now.

About the cyst, since it's not harmful guess you shouldn't stress yourself out over it. Am sure it will be fine. Yes this is my first. Am super nervous about it.

I'm seeing Dr Ann Tan. How is Dr Adelina Wong? If you dun mind me asking, how much does each visit with her cost?

And yeap..I am in the apr MTB thread.

    Going for checkup tmrw....can't wait.

Dr Wong is very friendly, reassuring and professional. She is much more affordable than my previous gynae (Dr Yvonne Soong). So, I'm not sure how is her pricing against others. The previous c/up included consultation, urine test, scan and folic acid. cost me about $100. I also like the fact that she doesn't give out unnecessary products. She also tends to check with you and inform you before giving out any supplements. I kinda like her [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

Good luck for your scan tomorrow [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

Hi Yasmin, thanks for the info on Dr Adelina Wong. Think her charges are very reasonable. My visit on Friday cost me abt $300. That includes consultation, scan, multi vits, fish oil, hormone pills, vit b6 and some vomit stuff. The first consultation was almost $500 including the blood tests and all that. Dr Ann Tan is very detailed and good but I'm just wondering if it's wise to stick with her especially since there is a huge possibility that I have to have a c-sect (due to pre existing medical condition). But yet I am very comfortable with her and her style. So in a bit of a dilemma.

Saw the baby's heartbeat yesterday. Fetal age is 6 weeks 6 days as of today. Getting pretty excited. Dr Ann Tan has an amazing scanning machine and we were able to see the yolk and the foetus clearly. It was kinda surreal when I saw the tiny head and buds that would be hands and feet. [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

Blueyrose - Salam to you and happy Ramadhan to you too.

salam blueyrose. Happy ramadhan to you too [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]how's your baby progressing?

    Blushwax

ur scan is awesome! so detailed. As for the cost, i can understand.Same thing with my first gynae. She's super friendly, detailed, reassuring. Give a lot of supplements also, some I'm not even sure necessary or not. similar to yours I guess. but everytime I see her my heartpain at the bill :p but I never change la bcos it was my first time. But I must say Dr Wong is good as well. I've heard Dr Sim L N from TMC is good as well. Anyway, you're free to choose.

  12. blushwax

    blushwax New Member

    Yasmin,

yeah my heart and pocket both hurts looking at the bill. Haha. The supplements I made sure I knew what they were for before I agreed on it. So far I am not taking anything I dun want to. A bit kiasu since first time mom. Hehe. I've read good comments about Dr Wong. Still weighing pros and cons.

One more question I have is about antenatal packages that some gynaes offer. What does that include usually? and...what is the amt of the total bill that can be deducted from medisave? How come some ppl can deduct more and some lesser. Really confused about this bit. Thanks for the help.

  13. yasmin

    yasmin Member

    Antenatal Packages

Diff gynaes have different rates. So, a bit diff to compare. Usually it includes consultation, scan and other stuff they want to throw in. The catch is, it is for 40 weeks pregnancy. So, if you pop earlier, no refund [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif] But packages are good la, see what your gynae has.

    Medisave

After your delivery, your hubby will submit your consultation bill with the rest of the hospital bills to the hospital counter. they will do the deduction for you. Also depends on the kind of bedder you take. For my first preg in TMC, I took 4 bedder and didn't pay a single cent upon check out.All covered by medisave. which means my pregnancy costs is just my charges with gynae la. but if cheaper gynae rates amount to more deductions, I'm not sure. Hope it helps.

Called the clinic and seems like Dr Tan does not have such a package. Hhmm....

About the medisave, thanks for the info.

  16. yasmin

    yasmin Member

Hmmm...I thought that everyone will hv one. guess not then. Then your bills will be quite steep looking at your per visit bill. maybe you can enquire other costs such as delivery costs and after delivery consultation.Maybe you can have gauge if she's really pricey and if you are comfy to continue with her. No doubt she's good thus her prices are high.

Anyway, are you fasting? How is it going? Me super tired and nauseous. No luxury to sleep and rest cos got the super active one to take care of [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

  17. blushwax

    blushwax New Member

Yeah. That's what I'm worried about too. I think I will go down and maybe ask the nurses there so I can get a clearer breakdown of the charges. Steep is an understatement I think. Haha.

I try to fast. So far have broken my fast a few times cos I had really bad gastric pains. Like you, I get super tired easily and sleep never seems to be enough. Hehe. Must be tough for you fasting, taking care of a toddler and being preggers all at the same time. try get more sleep at night I guess....

    hi Maggie!

At 5 weeks, you should be able to see the preg sac.Your gynae will check if the sac is in the right place and see if there are complications. You would only be able to see heartbeat from 6 to 7 weeks. For now, just eat well, rest well and stay positive!

    Selamat Hari Raya Ladies!

    Maggie,

actually i like to add cili padi to my food sometimes. my son is quite fierce. when ppl took items from his hands or when he doesnt want to be carried by certain ppl, he would say 'HEP'. Short but firm tone. so far only will throw tantrum when he's not patient for his milk. My hubby says he's fierce mayb coz i like to eat spicy food. hehe... not sure if its true. i eat more spicy food now with my second pregnancy.

    Yasmin,

my appt last friday was good. baby in sitting position and saw as if baby sucking the thumb. but cant see the sex due to the position. mayb next 4 weeks or when i go for the detailed scan. i didnt gain weight mayb due to fasting but gynae says baby growing well. Alhamdulillah... tats the important thing.

Better be careful of food intake. Did u c a doctor? Hopefully baby is well.

Hi Laila.. i also hv craving for spicy food now... esp i dun eat spicy food b4 preggy... hmm but i scare my child will be fierce!! haha [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif] better avoid n hv less spicy food! haha... hope my second baby wont be more fierce than my first baby. anyway, i was more temperamental during my first pregnancy compare to this time. tat could be another reason [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

  35. laila

    laila Member

    yasmin,

i think it would be a good idea to bring him along. though he may not really understand, let him view the scanning and tell him thats adik in there. i bring my boy along to prepare him for the arrival of a sibling soon but twice he fell asleep. haiz...

  36. yasmin

    yasmin Member

haha! so cute! I keep on telling my boy he cannot hit mummy cos my tummy got baby. He only repeat baby then he kiss my tummy if i tell him to, but he always gives me the weird look. of cos he can't grasp. but that doesn't mean, we can't try *winkwink

When are your EDDs? and which gynae/hosp are the 2 of you going to?

  37. laila

    laila Member

my boy still hasn't understand the situation. so whenever he 'stunt' on me n my hubby scold him, he will give the blur look coz usually i will play along when he do so.

my EDD is on 8th March 2010. but i guess i'll pop earlier s my first son was 9 days earlier than the EDD. i went to dr. clifford chan in loyang point since my first baby. he goes to all private hospitals and mostly tmc but i choose east shore as its nearer to my place.

    Eid Mubarak to everyone!

Been MIA for a while. Taking it easy from the last scare.

Yasmin, everything went ok. Rushed to gynae when the bleeding started. She gave me a jab and ordered bed rest for two weeks. Bleeding stopped after a few hours. Been taking it easy eversince. How have you been?

  43. laila

    laila Member

    hi mulishette,

when i first find out abt my first pregnancy, i went to my gynae a week later after getting reviews from friends on the gynae they went to. by that time i was already 8 weeks. was given medication for stability n folic acid.

on my second pregnancy, i somehow suspect much earlier but just buy my own iron supplement and fish oil. when i tot i'm in my 8 weeks, i went to the gynae again only to find out that i'm actually already in my 11 weeks. so things just continue from there.

i didnt rush after tested positive for my second pregnancy cos i feel well except for tiredness which is normal n my first pregnancy was smooth.

if its your first pregnancy, mayb u should make appt with kk/ other gynae.

    Mulishette,

I dunno abt others but I headed to my GP first to confirm the pregnancy. Just to be sure. He then recommended me a gynae and gave me some folic acid and other vits to take. Asked around for recommendations of gynae cos the one my family doc recommended is a male one. Made appt after researching. Was in my 5th week when I visited the gynae. Hope this helps.

missed you here [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif].Me doing fine. Good to hear that your little one is ok. Got scared for you.

    MUlishette

Understand how you feel cos I felt equally lost for my 1st.Go to a GP and confirm pregnancy first. Then, choose a gynae or hospital you wanna deliver with and make an appointment. You can surf around the forum for recommendations and feedbacks. Relax, you'll be fine. Congrats!

    Thanks sistas for your advises.

I headed down to poly to confirm on my pregnancy last week. Re-affirm with a urine test which resulted +ve. What makes me worried, the doctor pressed a bit on my tummy and she claimed that she don't feel anything which got me a bit scared. She estimated i'm approximately 12 weeks pregnant. She wrote a referral letter to KKH this week for my first checkup. Hope everything goes well. insyAllah~

12 weeks! that's long babe! well, the danger period is over. so give yourself a pat on the back. hehe..dun worry your gynae will check baby's heartbeat and its progress. enjoy the journey [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]
