Hi all, I was a silent reader of this forum and today I would like to share my story and hope it could give some encouragement to those couples who are trying to have bb. Me and my husband have been trying to conceive for two and half years before we made up our mind to look for a fertility doctor. We started the "journey" in sept'13, and we decided to go for Dr. Charles Lim ( I get to know Dr Charles Lim from this forum). In the first consultation with Dr Charles, he explained to us about the plan A, B & C. Furthermore, he suggested me to go for a thorough check making sure that I don't have diabetes. So, me & my husband followed his instructions and did all the tests he suggested and I met Dr Loh, a diabetes specialist on the same day. Few days after, we gone back for our medical reports, and unfortunately I was diagnosed with genetic diabetes type II. It was a very upsetting and totally unexpected news for me, and the saddest part was I could not plan for bb until my glucose reading dropped to an acceptable level. I was super upset by the news but in the meantime I am grateful that Dr Charles advised me to go for the glucose reading test otherwise I might only discover that I'm a diabetes patient when it gets serious. Because of the early diagnosis, I managed to reduce my glucose reading to the advisable range within two months under the medication treatment and change in dieting.
In late Nov, my diabetes doctor announced to me that I can resume my bb plan anytime i wish. However, due to the busy festival season and several travel plans in Dec'13, we only went back to see Dr Charles in mid Jan, after my mensus. Both of us thought this round we should be able to proceed with the Plan A and looking forward to holdout bb in arms. Things never be smooth to us, as Dr Charles discovered that my endometrium is abnormal thick and suspect it might caused by cancer. He then advised to go for a D&C surgery immediately to take out the samples for examination. He gave me two options, one is to do the D&C surgery and another one is reduce the thickness through medicine, and via the second alternative, we would never what was inside my uterus and whether it will cost my life one day.
I trust Dr Charles, and hence decided to take his advise and gone for the D&C surgery, it is a one hour surgery and it removed some polyps from my endometrium. I'm kind of lucky, because if these polyps are left untreated it will turn to cancer cell within few years time and the hormone changes during the pregnancy will speed up the process. I undergone a 25days medication treatment after the surgery and we went back to see Dr Charles in mid March14.
Things were smooth since then, I conceived on my second cycle under Plan A, and I am now 14 weeks pregnant and got my fetal DNA result this morning, knowing that I'm going to have a healthy baby girl. This Saturday will be my last session with Dr. Charles and he will transfer me to another doctor.
Throughout my journey, Dr Charles and his team has been very professional, friendly and caring, I'm grateful that I made a right choice in Sept'13, and I'm sure I will come back to see Dr. Charles for my second baby. For those who are still trying, please don't give up, if I could make it I'm sure all of you could have your dream come true.
All the best and good luck!
