Dr Charles Lim Mt E

Hi ppl, my mc just came and this not only confirms the failure of Plan B2 but marks my one year of fertility treatment. I did 4 rounds of clomid + Metformin with a doctor prior to dr charles. And with Dr Charles, two Plan A and two Plan B. I am exhausted and drained. Dr Charles says to see him for Plan B3 if it fails. After that, I will proceed to IVF at the public hospital. Praying that 3rd round will be successful.

I am sorry for your loss, believeinjesus.

I was also on Plan B2 in May, excitedly got pregnant in the beginning of June and lost it 2 weeks later.

I wanted my Plan B2 to be my last. Been trying for past 3 years after my 2nd M/C in 2010 (2 years of which on fertility treatments) and I was too tired to allow my life to revolve around fertility treatments. I thought I could allow myself to relax and do the things I wanted, free up the $$ for holidays and such.

Then BAM I get pregnant, HAPPY. BAM I lost the pregnancy.

So what now, like you, believeinjesus, I feel I got nothing left. I guess now I could try again (even tho I said I would not continue) Taking a 3 month break, while doing some of my own PCOS treatment like taking low carb meals and exercising every day. Will see him in 3 months time to check if any cysts occur.

hi. i've been seeing Dr Lim for slightly over a month. on plan A now, done 2 jabs and on metformin once a day and hoping in the next three weeks the resuts would be positive! The hubz is very hopeful on the results and i'm just keeping my fingers crossed. worse.. its my busy period nd at work and im trying very hard to keep calm and not flare up nd get stressed as i read that stress ruins any chances!

Had been a silent reader of this thread & SMH forum. Just did my Plan B3 with Dr Lim last Sat & officially in 2WW. Did another 4 more rounds of IUI with another doc previously but have not been successful so far. IVF is not our option yet so yeah....it's IUI all the way & hopefully we will succeed with perseverance like what Dr Lim told us in our first appointment. Indeed, this is a tough TTC journey for us and I really do hope to see a light at the end of the tunnel.

@miracledohappen> You are not the only one! Had seen so many successful cases in the clinic and will always wonder when will be my turn....But hang on there ya! Which plan are you on currently?

milogal88, I am on plan A now, but I guess I need to return and see Dr Lim next week..signz. Becoming nervous because of age. Finger crossed that we will succeed soon.

miracledohappen, is that your first try on Plan A? As long as no see red still got hope ok! I'm trying to keep positive too though I can feel af will be here anytime. But still hoping otherwise. I'm also getting worried of my age catching up year by year. Still, we must jia you together ok!

Hi ladies,
I will be returning red eggs at Toa Payoh Shuang Lin Temple to Zhu Sheng Niang Niang on 8 Dec 13(Sunday) around 12 noon.
Those interested can come and collect the red eggs.
Baby dust to all!

Hi everyone,
I just stumbled upon this forum while looking for a good fertility doctor. I'm so glad I could get a great start in my second round of TTC.
Had a miscarriage last year in dec. I have PCO and was able to conceive by being 3 months on metformin + clomid in 3rd month. However I miscarried in 5weeks. Started trying again in Sept this year with no luck and thought of seeing a specialist right away..as I know I have a problem.
Met Dr. Lim last week. He immediately was able to diagnose me and said i should have continued with metformin till 12 weeks ( I had stopped as soon as I got BFP coz my ex gyn asked me to) anyway I'm on plan A now. Started 1 metformin a day from CD7 this cycle. Next cycle - Have been prescribed duinim from CD3 to CD7. Will see Dr. Lim on CD 8 to start Gonal F shots.
I'm hopeful this time around and feel comfortable with Dr. Lim.

This is a great forum and happy to so many TTC buddies here! Hope we all graduate as mommies soon!!
After reading great reviews

hi all,
i've just "graduated" from dr charles lim after a successful plan A and now in my second trimester.
Dont lose hope and do keep on trying!

Hi FurryJ.. Congratulations!!
I think this was your first plan A?

This month is my first round too and already done with 2 gonal f jabs. Seeing doc on Monday Cd12 for scan. My last scan on CD8 showed 11 follicles !!! Dr Lim joked that how about if all 11 matured! That would be soooo not good.
Anyway on Monday doc will decide if I need a third jab.

Hi Lemonee - charges are 200 first consultation, 100 for scan, 680 for tests (this depends on how many tests u actually require).
Subsequent visits are 75 which includes the scans.
Hope this helps!!

Hi,

Anyone experience that ur AF didn't come and dr lim ask you to take metformin + clomid then Cd8 go take G.F injection?

it been quite sometimes since I log into this forum. I just wanna to share with all the gals here to stay positive and have confidence with Dr Lim. I have been TTC for almost 5 years. Been to KK and tried 2 times IUI, failed.

Referred to Dr Lim by one of my friend, tried Plan A3 and Plan B1 for 4 cycles consecutively. And I just graduated recently and I am here spreading lots of BB dusts to all of you who are ttc.

@ling86, you have to keep on taking your metformin until you find out that you are pregnant. Once you are pregnant, Dr Lim will advise you to stop and will prescribe you with other medicine.

Hi everyone I am new to this forum.
I am also seeing Dr Charles Lim doing Plan A2. Today is CD35 and AF has not come.
Did you all experienced any late period after taking the med and jabs?

Hi all, I'm new to this forum and hope can find some "fighting Mates" here towards the TTC journey =)

Hi i went to see dr charles cuz my period got v lil beginning of this yr. Another tcm suggested that i may have thin uterine lining n hence i did a scan with dr charles. But dr charles said nothing is wrong. But i am still having these scanty periods, like only last for 2 days n this mth only 1 day. Anyone knows if this will hinder chance of pregnancy?

hey there, if Dr Lim said that's no problem then it should be fine. I used to visit TCM as well and they talk about my lungs/liver etc which may affect pregnancy. Then again, western doc only focus on your problem itself. For me, it is more on the eggs/sperms problems. If you are going through the treatment with Dr Lim, had faith with him although sometimes he can be pretty straight forward and he had definitely scared me a few times.

For those ladies out there, who are thinking to continue or stop. Please do not give up. I was trying on Plan A for 3 times and when I first started with my metformin, I experienced side effects. Giddy, vomiting and breaking out cold sweats. My DH told me to give up after seeing me going through all the sufferings and insist that it is ok not to have a BB. I guess my body is simply too weak and not forgetting I am very small in size and definitely underweight.

But after trying all different kind of methods over the years and wasted so much $$, Dr Lim is my last hope and I am persistent of continuing despite of my DH's advise. We then decided to go for Plan B. It works for me on my 1st try and I think we are extremely lucky despite of all our problems that we are having.

What I am trying to say over here is that, your will power needs to be strong! Keep on trying and trying and don't give up! You will get it eventually. Oh, by the way, did I mentioned that I have been TTC for close to 6 years and I am 37 this year? If it can happen to me, why not the gals here :)

Hi,

Have any MTB did the Fetal DNA test with Dr Charles?
Hi lemonee.... yup my wife did her Fetal DNA test with Dr Charles.... it's also called Harmony Test.... did it on 14 May and last Sat (24 May) he showed us the results and it was our last consult with Dr Charles... ;-( cos my wife is in her 2nd trimester.....

I must say that I'm really grateful to him for helping my wife to conceive.... we were quite fortunate as it was a spontaneous pregnancy when we decided to take a break from all the jabs and medication under plan A......

Just to share our journey ...... me and my wife got married in Nov 2012... me at the 'ripe old age' of 40..hahaha...and my wife was 33 back then....... thereafter tried to plan for family way from Dec 2012 till about May 2013..... after much persuasion....my wife gave in and agreed to see a fertility doc (Dr Charles was recommended by my colleague who got her son via IUI and is a personal friend of Dr Charles) in Jun 2013..... Imagine the first visit when he scanned my wife and discovered that my wife had a huge fibroid of 20cm.... my wife didn't want to do the myomectomy op...but gave in after much persuasion.... and had the procedure done in Jul 2013.... upon checking, it was advised that we resume our family way planning some 6 months later..... so we started our plan A with Dr Charles in Nov 2013..... "worked" throughout Dec 2013 till Jan 2014.....and my wife was getting frustrated and decided to take a break from the jabs and medication but we continued 'working' naturally in Feb 2014..and lo and behold it happened...... ;-) now I'm just praying and hoping my wife will get better as she had a very bad 1st trimester due to her severe vomiting and needed to go on drip on a few occasions..... now into her 2nd trimester....another problem cropped up....constipation.....sigh.... so I'm doing all I can to spend time with my wife and encourage her as we go through this tough but definitely worthwhile and fulfilling journey to parenthood.... ;-)

Jia you to all those who are still TTCing and never give up..... you will see results.... ;-)

Thanks for the clarification Clarence.

Hope your wife gets better as the baby gets bigger. I believe you are a good husband and will be a good father! Jia You too!

Hi, I was in your same situation, my period only came 2 days, sometimes only one day and no heavy flow at all. I also thought will have slim chance to get pregnant, but was pregnant within half a year after getting married, I was 36 yrs old when I got pregnant. Pregnancy went on smoothly, not much problem. So don't worry if yr doctor says no problem, then should be no problem... :)

Hi everyone I am new to this forum.
currently i am seeing Dr June Tan in KKH. I have PCOS and dr June gave me metformin (500mg x 2twice a day) . I have been taking it for more than 6 months but it seems like not working on me.
This month Dr June finally gave me clomid (one tablet from AF D2-D6) but seems like still not working on me. My current period cycle is around 3months.
i don't know what shall i do now. SHall i continue with Dr June or switch to Dr Lim?

Anyone can share the Dr Lim's cost with me? such as how much it is scan fee when you go back to check the size of eggs and how much for go through one cycle plan a /b ?

Hi all, I was a silent reader of this forum and today I would like to share my story and hope it could give some encouragement to those couples who are trying to have bb. Me and my husband have been trying to conceive for two and half years before we made up our mind to look for a fertility doctor. We started the "journey" in sept'13, and we decided to go for Dr. Charles Lim ( I get to know Dr Charles Lim from this forum). In the first consultation with Dr Charles, he explained to us about the plan A, B & C. Furthermore, he suggested me to go for a thorough check making sure that I don't have diabetes. So, me & my husband followed his instructions and did all the tests he suggested and I met Dr Loh, a diabetes specialist on the same day. Few days after, we gone back for our medical reports, and unfortunately I was diagnosed with genetic diabetes type II. It was a very upsetting and totally unexpected news for me, and the saddest part was I could not plan for bb until my glucose reading dropped to an acceptable level. I was super upset by the news but in the meantime I am grateful that Dr Charles advised me to go for the glucose reading test otherwise I might only discover that I'm a diabetes patient when it gets serious. Because of the early diagnosis, I managed to reduce my glucose reading to the advisable range within two months under the medication treatment and change in dieting.

In late Nov, my diabetes doctor announced to me that I can resume my bb plan anytime i wish. However, due to the busy festival season and several travel plans in Dec'13, we only went back to see Dr Charles in mid Jan, after my mensus. Both of us thought this round we should be able to proceed with the Plan A and looking forward to holdout bb in arms. Things never be smooth to us, as Dr Charles discovered that my endometrium is abnormal thick and suspect it might caused by cancer. He then advised to go for a D&C surgery immediately to take out the samples for examination. He gave me two options, one is to do the D&C surgery and another one is reduce the thickness through medicine, and via the second alternative, we would never what was inside my uterus and whether it will cost my life one day.

I trust Dr Charles, and hence decided to take his advise and gone for the D&C surgery, it is a one hour surgery and it removed some polyps from my endometrium. I'm kind of lucky, because if these polyps are left untreated it will turn to cancer cell within few years time and the hormone changes during the pregnancy will speed up the process. I undergone a 25days medication treatment after the surgery and we went back to see Dr Charles in mid March14.

Things were smooth since then, I conceived on my second cycle under Plan A, and I am now 14 weeks pregnant and got my fetal DNA result this morning, knowing that I'm going to have a healthy baby girl. This Saturday will be my last session with Dr. Charles and he will transfer me to another doctor.

Throughout my journey, Dr Charles and his team has been very professional, friendly and caring, I'm grateful that I made a right choice in Sept'13, and I'm sure I will come back to see Dr. Charles for my second baby. For those who are still trying, please don't give up, if I could make it I'm sure all of you could have your dream come true.

All the best and good luck!

Congrats Olengina..... do have lotsa rest and do get yourself hydrated daily. ;-)

Thanks Clarence, you may ask your wife to try drinking warm water with empty stomach in the morning, it helps to ease the constipation. :)

Congrats Olengina!!! Thanks for sharing your story. I have tried Plan A for 3 times and plan B for 2 times but no news so far... I'm trying for 3rd time plan B this round and gonna stop for a while if still not success...sigh...quite depressing and feel like giving up.

Sorry for the late in responding, was quite busy at work. Try to cut down carbo, replace with healthier choice, e.g brown rice and brown bread, if u could avoid cool beverages, cold desserts and tea ( both English n chinese tea). I made red dates plus black dates water and drink it on alternate days, after my D&C surgery. You can choose to boil it or pour in hot water to the thermo flask then leave it for at least 20mins bef drinking. For me, sometimes I made it at nite then drink it on the following morning.

Hope to hear from your good news soon... All the best!

Today is cd 30 (16dpiui) , my 3rd iui with dr lim. Feeling so restless and helpless. So far not much symptoms,
my typical cycle is 28 to 31 days.

Am so tempted to test but it will be good to wait out till cd 35 day.. In case of disappointment.

Plan a is with medication to stimulate eggs growth
Plan b is iui
Plan c is ivf

I can't remember plan a's cost already. Plan b about 2 plus k. (Depends on how much medication and injection is given)

End of waiting. I got for AF yesterday. ;( sigh.
Hi Kitty16, sorry to know you have failed your B3. Just want to tell you that you are not alone as I'm just failed it last month too. I'm taking a rest now before continue to next step...whether operation or iVF. How about you? What's your next plan?

Hi piyo1234,

Let's both jia you!
I'm taking a break for a month then perhaps another iui.. ;( but I think the chances might not be high. I'm thinking of enquiring ivf at sgh or kkh. So now researching more. I'm also going through acupuncture ..

Do you require any operation ?
Hey Kitty16,

Dr.Lim just gave me suggestion to go for 'operation' to drill further for the uterus...He said based on my past condition, I should have conceived already. So, must be something wrong and maybe due to 子宫内膜异位症(endometriosis). You can find out more from Internet. He said most of the women diagnosed infertility is due to this illness...that's why need to go for 'operation' = scope to find out more. I'm still thinking about it...
