Hi Mummies, happy friday! Wanted to say "yay, it's a public holiday" but realised that it is all the same to us since we are 'working' at home! Ha ha!
PSP, I dump my bm because can only keep warmed up EBM for one hour. In the first 2 months, my first CL is very slack and would pre-warm my milk and keep 2-3hours so I just follow. But now my 2nd CL is very strict and would insist to dump after 1hr which is the correct way to do. So thankfully, my boy is okay from my milk mishandling in the first 2 months. Maybe that had attributed to his crying/colic. Not sure.
Mummies, 2 days ago, I found another PD and brought baby for checkup and treatment for his cradle cap. This new pd is so much better than the one at the hospital that we were seeing. She did a thorough check on my boy and discovered that he has oral thrush! She asked me if I was on antibiotics 2-3 weeks ago. And sure enough I was!! I was given antibiotics when I had mastitis 3 weeks ago! She said the antibiotics had passed on to my boy through my breastmilk and had caused an imbalance of good & bad bacteria in him causing thrush. Poor boy! I felt so bad! The antibiotics during delivery for my c sec didn't help either.
Dian tang, same as your boy. This thrush is also the caused of his reduced milk intake recently as thrush causes discomfort & itch when feeding. So both baby and I are given probiotics and we need to apply an oral thrush gel on his tongue 4 times a day. Besides that, we need to get a small brush to gently brush his tongue once a day to remove the thrush layer by layer. It should clear in around 5 days so hopefully that will be the case and his milk intake will increase. Other than that, he was given medical grade olive oil to remove his cradle cap. Doctor said in the future, if I'm still breastfeeding, I must only take antibiotics as the very last resort.
Other than that, I'm very happy that my boy seems more alert and aware of his surrounding starting this week. He smiles readily now and would coo/aah at us. He is finally napping more too. So happy and really enjoying it
