Saralyn n mofmm, how did u cope w bf twins? I've been feeding n feeding them but they don't seem to be satisfied n twin 2 can take up to 60ml fm shortly after bf.....makes me wonder why I bother w bf......

reikibaby I did it that way. btw why do u give fm? just keep on latching n ur supply will meet ut bb demand. for me I just keep on nursing.
so u dont plan to try single ingredient and wait for 4days before introducing new solid?

Small bunny, actually I can't recall how I did it in the initial stages.. I know it was very tough.. My boys keep on crying and my MIL keep saying they are not full this n that. Alot of time I want to give up breastfeeding. But I'm glad I did not and preserve on till now. What I did previously is I latch them in the day time. It was around 2-2.5 hour interval coz they were real hungry.. Sometime even 1.5 hour they cried! After every single latch, I will pump to make sure my breasts are empty and continue to pump for awhile more coz I read this is to tell the body to produce more milk. My boys are fully on bm for the past few weeks or maybe months? I still latch them in the day and night time is bottle feed. I give them one bottle in the afternoon too to let them used to bottle coz one of my boys kinda reject bottle now. Night time I will pump.. 10pm, 1am, 4am, 7am.. My pump volume is not great. You can get help from mofmm if you want to exclusive pump coz she can produce alot.. Can share some of her secrets. :)

Hi Mummies, happy friday! Wanted to say "yay, it's a public holiday" but realised that it is all the same to us since we are 'working' at home! Ha ha!

PSP, I dump my bm because can only keep warmed up EBM for one hour. In the first 2 months, my first CL is very slack and would pre-warm my milk and keep 2-3hours so I just follow. But now my 2nd CL is very strict and would insist to dump after 1hr which is the correct way to do. So thankfully, my boy is okay from my milk mishandling in the first 2 months. Maybe that had attributed to his crying/colic. Not sure.

Mummies, 2 days ago, I found another PD and brought baby for checkup and treatment for his cradle cap. This new pd is so much better than the one at the hospital that we were seeing. She did a thorough check on my boy and discovered that he has oral thrush! She asked me if I was on antibiotics 2-3 weeks ago. And sure enough I was!! I was given antibiotics when I had mastitis 3 weeks ago! She said the antibiotics had passed on to my boy through my breastmilk and had caused an imbalance of good & bad bacteria in him causing thrush. Poor boy! I felt so bad! The antibiotics during delivery for my c sec didn't help either.

Dian tang, same as your boy. This thrush is also the caused of his reduced milk intake recently as thrush causes discomfort & itch when feeding. So both baby and I are given probiotics and we need to apply an oral thrush gel on his tongue 4 times a day. Besides that, we need to get a small brush to gently brush his tongue once a day to remove the thrush layer by layer. It should clear in around 5 days so hopefully that will be the case and his milk intake will increase. Other than that, he was given medical grade olive oil to remove his cradle cap. Doctor said in the future, if I'm still breastfeeding, I must only take antibiotics as the very last resort.

Other than that, I'm very happy that my boy seems more alert and aware of his surrounding starting this week. He smiles readily now and would coo/aah at us. He is finally napping more too. So happy and really enjoying it :)

Lil ponyo, mine was only given the oral gel. As for cleaning of inside of mouth, I use the sterile wet wire gauze to clean. We come to a stsge where we feed him by syringe as he cant be fed thru bottle , also keep him hydrated cos we noticed hd is a bit dehydrated. His diaper was not wet at all. So worried. Hope ur bb get better bafter the applyimg the gel

Sade, my boy kicks a big fuss if he doesnt get any milk from his latch or doesnt have enough from the latch. so the only way to fill him is to give fm.
I feel that rice should be fine so will give a week for each veg added to his porridge. Cos just plain porridge it will turn him off as it doesnt taste great. So at least with sweet potato added, he enjoys it. Dun wan him to reject porridge mah. And since im not keen with those rice or cereals off shelf, so got to make my cooking of him food tasty. Next on the list will be pumpkin, then at least i can make pumpkin soup for him to alternate with porridge meals. What arr the veg you've tried?

Ladies I've fever that causes by blocked ducts. Ytdy, i tried using warm compress and keep pushing on e lump until swollen and blue black. Seen e family clinic ytdy, was given nurofen and cephalexin. Today when I tried to express my milk, right breast is only 25ml and left is 125ml. Now I realized I've a lump at my right breast. What should I do!

Psp, I had blocked ducts few weeks back too. I used warm compress and keep massaging my breasts towards the nipple. Takes 2-3 days to clear. I pump halfway, stop and massage again. If your baby latches, think it will clear faster. Unfortunately I stopped latching since 2nd month so no choice but to keep pumping every 3 hourly. Be patient and it should clear.

Lil, glad to hear that you're enjoying your boy! It's wonderful when they laugh and smile at you right, really melts your heart :) How many weeks is he now? Btw, can PM me the name of your new lady PD? I'm not very impressed with the on assigned to us at hospital either, not sure if it's the same one. I've been looking around for a new PD..

PSP, I also have tendency for blocked ducts, I just got one in my right breast also! Must keep using warm compress and massage, if doesn't clear after few days maybe consider seeing LC or massage therapist to ask them to help you massage and clear.

Hi Small Bunny, I tried latching during the first week and each time after latching, the twins still able to drink 60-70ml of formula milk. So now I only latch them once in a while and pump the breast milk out to bottle feed them. I intend to try latching again after my confinement period, hopefully this will boost up my milk supply. Currently I'm only able to pump 100-110ml (both breast add together) each time. My supply now probably can only fulfill one of the twin's needs. Sigh! Praying for more milk coming soon!

reikibaby oic. I had given her sweet potato, carrots, potato n pumpkin. btw is ur PD at tampines?

psp maybe u might wan to go for a breast massage? try to clear the blocked duct away.

Hi outlier, my boys are sometimes ok without fm after latching n sometimes need up to 60ml fm after a feed. I only latch n do not pump cos I find that the pump hurts my nipples too much. Not sure if medela is not suitable for me.....I think I've given up idea of complete breastfeeding n will just bf as much as possible n supplement w fm as required.

I asked cl to stay additional 2 wks n she's still considering cos she says my boys don't sleep much at night n she's not sure if she can take it. :s

Small bunny, don't give up. Is possible to complete bf twins.. Just don't give up.. Continue to latch them and pump to up your supply. Regarding your pump, it could be your funnel size is too small for you. When I first used mine, my nips were already very painful n sore after the pump. I still remember it was so sore I couldn't pump anymore and I used hand to express.. Try getting the next bigger size and pump again. :) don't give up k.. Boys tend to have bigger appetiate.. One day you will be able to fully bf them. :) jiayou!!

Dian tang & Lil, hope your boy is doing well now and the thrush is gone.. I highly suspect my boys are having it also. One of my boys has been crying and screaming alot when comes to feeding time. He can rather don't drink his milk and go to sleep. Sigh.

Sade, mine is at sengkang. PDis a male, malay doctor. Going to try pumpkin next. Thought of trying broccoli and spinach. But broccoli will cause wind in tummy. And spinach will have a strong smell....let me know if you succeed in trying these 2.
Btw, will you try rolled oats?
Most commercial cereals contain sodium and sugar. Know of any that doesn't?

reikibaby yes will try rolled oats too. I had bought a packet of organic rolled oats. will grind it into powder n cook it. not using any commercial products yet. simple to do just like the brown rice. ok will let u know aft trying broccoli n spinach. not so soon cos next up is avocado n rolled oats.

Hi ladies,
Pinkieberrie is Reikibaby right? I can’t tell who is who!
Reikibaby, your bb can stretch out arms? My bb doesn’t. And he doesn’t talk that much anymore. At one stage, he was really talkative. I don’t know what happened! What cereals did you give your bb?
Saralyn, BKK was shiok and I wished I could stay longer. Haha… Coming back to work somehow keeps my sanity but I also miss out on the little actions of my bb whom I think is so cute now and I am loving him more. :)

Koirc, yeah im reikibaby.
You mean stretch arms to be carried? Yes..he will stretch out when he wants the person to carry him. And will turn away if dun wan. Lately my boy loves to scream at high pitch. My boy also dun seems talk much cos he is busy 'munching' his fingers or anyting he can grab hold of....
Not giving him commercial cereals. But i have friends recommending bellamy.

Thought you've started cereal with your boy earlier as what pd suggested?

Pd said I can try to give him cereals but I didn’t cos she said if he’s drinking 500-800ml a day, it’s ok.
I have actually tagged on to a friend’s purchase to get organic cereals. Can’t remember what brand. I just collected from her last week. I bought 3 different types – oatmeal, multigrain and brown rice.

Good morning ladies!

Hmm… Is it me or is the forum really quiet yesterday?

Somehow I really don’t like the new look. It doesn’t bring you to the last page and typing on it is always slow that I have to type elsewhere then copy and paste my replies.

My baby was 5 months old yesterday. Time flies!

Koirc, ya.. Is more quiet here now.. Guess everyone is busy with their babies and their daily life..

Yesterday I brought my boys to see pd. Sitting at the waiting area I saw so many newborns and seein them so small and tiny I totally can't recall those days my boys were so small too. Haha!

I asked the pd about their milk intake of 160/180ml.. She said is too much for them! 150ml is the comfortable range for their age now. Opps! Haha..

Dian tang, how's your boy? Hope he is doing well and discharge already.

Lil, how's yours too? Drinking well now? My boys also has abit of thrush. We asked the pd to check yesterday. But I don't think is the caused of my boy crying while feeding now..

Mummies, is it normal that baby will become more curious of their surrounding and keep wanting to look around instead of sleeping and drinking milk? I think one of my boy is going through this phrase now.

hi mummies,
haven't log in for sometime...
My bb coming to 5mth soon... how time flies....
A few days ago, she finally managed to flip over and lift up her head and turn left and right... a bit late compare to rest. I think it's because I seldom do tummy training.

Reikibaby, my girl also like to scream a lot now too and babbles a lot

I've given her nestle rice cereal mixed with her fm milk. She still drinks 100-130ml each feed but I think cereal can keep her full. It's rather heaty as she has lots of discharge in her eyes. My GP told me to train her swallowing skills by feeding the cereal prepared in gluey form instead of just liquid form.

Mummies, do you face hairfall problem? lately my hair keeps falling. My friend said usu occur ard 4th mth. Will it stop? I'm so worried.. going to hair specialist for treatment.

hi znatasha so did u manage to claim your delivery fees from your insurance?
Yes my hairs had been falling. started from 4th month too. heard will be abt half yr. me din do any treatment to it. no coloring, nor perming or rebonding cos just wan to leave it as it is.

yes its so quiet here, think most r busy with their kids and works.

Znatasha, not late...my boy still happily dun wan to flip. N he never likes tummy time. The screaming is scary!!!
Im dropping hair too. So now using hairfall shampoo and hair tonic. Can feel my ponytail thinning...:(

Hi Mummies, ya think we are all busy and not as much time to log on as before. And the fact that this new interface is not user-friendly and can only reply using laptop is very troublesome! In the past, I could reply using my phone.

Saralyn and Dian Tang, thanks my boy's thrush has improved and is feeding better and better now. Very happy and I hope that he will drink more and more from now on. He is still at around 80-90ml each feed and sometimes still won't finish whole feed at one go. But it is better, so I'm happy.

Dian Tang, hope you boy is better by now!

My boy quite poor thing. Over the weekend, he developed fever so we brought him to the doctor on Saturday. And because of his young age, he was admitted to hospital. They had to do blood and urine tests on him to make sure that there is not major issue/infection with him. He had a needle in his little hand the whole time. They kept it there in case they need to administer antibiotics should the blood test come back unfavourably. I stayed overnight at the hospital with baby. So poor thing to see his little hand all taped up and him crying when doctor put the needle in :( The nurses kept monitoring his fever throughout the night and when it reaches 37.5 and above, they gave him medicine which thankfully he seems to like the taste. Luckily all his tests came out fine and doctor said it was just a viral infection so he was discharged the next morning. What a weekend! We are still monitoring his temperature at home and it is better now. It is truly endless worry being a mum (and dad for my DH!).

Hello mummies. Ya, my hair fall alot, really alot....is ultra scary. My bb is now nearly 4 mths old. He lately keep drools and chews his fingers. I guess is the teething symptom. I just bought Dentinox for him today. Is a teething gel, hope it works. Sianz...I think i was really fertile yesterday but not suitable to bd as I was at my parent's house staying overnight. Think i miss the fertile timing.....Ultra sianz......Really hope to give my son a younger sibling.

lil can reply thru hp. oh dear, thankfully ur bb is alright now.

usagi wow. Hopefully u strike soon. Just only 4 months n u r really for a 2nd bb.

Mummies, I starting to be abit worry now for one of my boy.. We went for their 3 months assessment on Monday. One of my boys can't follow an object when placed in front of him and both don't respond to sound of the rattle n bell.. The more I read online it sounds like autism.. I am so worry now.. Does your baby respond to moving object and sound at 3.5 month old?

We asked the pd n she told us sound is only at 6th month.. But all the online says 3rd month they should be able to search for the sound n track moving object with their eye.. Sigh..

Iil, oh no.. Hope your boy is fine now.. Take care..

You can reply thru your phone. Why you can't do it? Just that the words are so small now that I need to enlarge the screen to read and scrolling around..

Znastasha, I also starting to drop hairs.. Heard it will be worst.. Am prepared for it by just cutting short my hair.. Hope I won't have too serious hair loss..

Usagi, My boys also started to drool a lot and put their fist into their mouth.. We are always telling them no! When they put their fist in.. Don't think they know what we mean but hope they will understand one day..

All e best for your 2nd baby! :)

Oh ya, I can reply via phone! Lol! So sua ku!
Thanks Saralyn and Sade, we are still monitoring baby's temp. Think he's okay now. His temp is usually a little higher than ours.

Saralyn, don't worry about development milestone. Every baby develope at different rate. All these guidelines are just guidelines. Previously when my baby wasn't smiling between week 6-8 I was also worried about autism because that is also one of the symptoms. My baby finally smiled in week 10-11!! From your FB photos, your boys are happy smiley babies so you don't have to worry!! They probably were not in the old during the assessment. Just keep talking and interacting with them. Also, I read that putting hand and objects in mouth is part of development and for babies to explore the world, so don't worry :)

Hi Sade, yap I managed to claim abt 70% as I didn't buy the rider... Thanks if not for your post I would have miss it...:)

Hope my hair will stop falling so scary to see many hair on floor and pillow everyday...can't avoid coloring as I have tonnes of grey hair... sigh:(

Lil, I also seldom check this site too as my phone is too old for this interface...

Ya, I find the forum so much more difficult to use! Seldom log on now..

Zntasha - my son also just started flipping not so long ago. I tell my hubby not to worry about the milestones, every baby will develop at their own pace and when he's 21, it really doesn't matter that he started flipping a few weeks later. I'm dropping hair like mad, heart pain when I see the clumo on the shower floor every day. I've cut my hair short in the vain hope that it will lessen the hairfall!

Lil, what a scary episode! Glad to hear that baby is doing ok. He sounds like a real trooper!

Usagi, wow so fast you are trying for #2! jia you!

Saralyn, try not to stress yourself out by reading online! I'm sure your boys will develop at their own pace :)

Thanks, Belbel. Baby is okay now. Phew! I think fever with babies will also send parents into a frenzy!

Usagi, you are indeed very fast! Jia you!!

Thanks mummies for the support.. The doc which is just a general doc, made it so serious kind.. Sigh. I'm trying to talk to them more now and hopefully they will have improvement.. And also, do those tests on them..

Lil Ponyo: hi how is ur boy? Hope his fever has subside. Mine was admitted to hosp dur the long weekend for poor feeding . After 2 days the doc realized he has sore throat lead to poor feeding . His oral thrush has recovered . Now he hasn't recovered yet still hav sore throat and cold .. So he drank less than what he drank now . We hav a difficult time feeding him as he always cried dur each feed .

Hello ladies!

Looks like the haze is back. Take good care of your bbs!

I have hair fall problem too and I think it will stop some time. What worries me more is the hormonal imbalance. I think I still have male hormones cos I get very sweaty fairly quickly every day unlike before pregnancy. :(

Usagi, you’re really fast to try for 2nd bb. All the best! I will consider when bb turns 1 cos too much for me to handle and I still haven’t gotten over the trauma…

Saralyn, don’t worry too much. My bb always seem to fail milestones every time we go for check up. I was also worried he may be autistic but let’s not scare ourselves. He will soon catch up. Like my bb has already caught up with most of it.

I haven’t given bb solids. I am just too nervous to do it and always feel I need all the right gears before I do it. So until I finally buy a high chair, I don’t think I will start bb on solids.

Sade & Reikibaby,

I was going through some of the past posts and see that you were discussing about solid foods for bb. There is this brown rice roll you mentioned. Where can I get them? I tagged on my friend’s order for organic cereals but now I am thinking of making my own.

And can baby take the same kind of oatmeal we take or do they have special type?

Oh the haze is bk ! I thought is because of seventh month whereby pple are burning the incense .

What shd we get to prepare bb for solid food? Blender to make purée ? Thinking to buy a hand held blender or food processor.. Any recommendation ?

I also start to c my hair falling .. Already so little hair omg

Do u bring ur bb for 6 mth development check?polyclinic only do on 3 rd and 9 th month .

dian tang hope ur boy is ok now. did u bring ur bb to kkh? how is the services there?

koirc, no hurry to give solids to bb. only give when bb can sit up. I mentioned abt the brown rice porridge aka cereal. I used organic brown rice n washed few tablespoons n air dry it for a day n then grind it into powder and kept it in fridge. I will use abt 2tbs n cooked for 10min n then give to my girl initially. now I mix with sweet potato or carrots or pumpkins. I din give my girl any commerical jar or box food yet cos I prefer homemade food for her.
as for the oatmeal, I also bought organic rolled oat n grind it n then store in fridge. use few tbs to cook for 10min just like the brown rice cereal. v easy.

I used the u-like blender n grinder. dept stores such as og n isetan r selling it at $70bah. I bought it 2yrs back n now been using it almost everyday. quite useful.

Sade, he still hav sore throat and cold since the last doc visit in nuh . We went to nuh children emergency after polyclinic refferal. He got admitted after it .

thinking of getting a simple blender or the avent steamer . Thks mummies for recommendations

Hi ladies, haven't log in for a long time. Wanted to ask when do you all plan to bf or pump until? My baby is 5 months plus now and I'm still pumping. But I'm taking care of baby alone and now let down seems slower....makes me stress and exhausted at times especially when I'm pumping and suddenly baby fusses. Haiz hubby ask me to stop if its too stress and focus on baby... But I abit reluctant coz still have supply and plus its good for baby. Any advice?
