Mother’s Day Giveaway: 2D1N Staycation at Amara Singapore for a Family of Three (worth $258++)!
It’s almost Mother’s Day and what better reason than this to win Mum a well-deserved break? We check in to check out what a staycation at Amara Singapore has to offer for a weekend of family fun and bonding.
Vacations are a wonderful thing, but who has all that time – and money – to travel overseas all the time? And once you have children, everything doubles and triples in terms of airfare, luggage, itineraries and of course, costs! So the next best thing? Getting away without actually leaving the country. Better still, if you can win yourself and the family a staycation, then all you have to do is pack some extra clothes and Junior’s favourite toy, and you’re good to go!
In honour of Mother’s Day, we’re giving one lucky family 2D1N Family Fun Weekend package for two adults and one child below 12 years old at the elegant Amara Singapore. But before that, we booked ourselves a stay so that we can give you a sneak preview of what a staycation there has in store for you.

A Well-appointed Room to Call Home for a Day or Two
Amara Singapore’s elegantly appointed Deluxe Room
A peek into the bathroom, although you can’t see the separate shower area in the photo
Given its location in the heart of Singapore’s CBD, Amara Singapore is well-regarded as a business hotel. What we didn’t realise is that it makes for an excellent staycation option too – bet you didn’t either! For one thing, the rooms are elegantly decorated in a way that exudes a cosy and relaxing feel. Guests enjoy free Wi-Fi access, a flat-screen TV with cable TV, and coffee and tea-making facilities.
Our favourite feature, however, is the en suite bathroom, because it has a separate bathtub and shower area! This is particularly useful when you need to bathe the little one and Daddy needs a shower too.

A look at the Club Lounge and a small section of the buffet spread
The hotel was kind enough to upgrade our stay to a Club Room, although we understand that these are limited to two guests per room. However, the hotel also has Family Suites that come with Amara Club access. On top of everything mentioned above, Club Room guests get to enjoy a range of perks, starting with personalised check-in and out, complimentary breakfast, afternoon tea and evening cocktails at the Club Lounge. The buffet spread is excellent at all three sessions! The only thing to note is that kids below 12 years aren’t allowed in the Club Lounge from 6-8pm, as alcohol is served then.
Extra amenities in the Club Room also extends to complimentary mini bar and a Dolce Gusto coffee machine. Oh, and the luxurious Roberto Cavalli toiletries smell really nice! We definitely recommend upgrading your stay if you can!
Endless Dining Options

Hand-made noodles at Silk Road
Perhaps the biggest draw at Amara Singapore is the number of dining establishments and wide range of diverse cuisines within its premises. Element is the hotel’s buffet restaurant – it’s where hotel guests have breakfast from 6.30-10.30am daily. It also offers a sumptuous multi-cultural buffet lunch and dinner experience. Tea lovers can enjoy high tea or a freshly made pastry snack with a pot of TWG tea at Tea Room.
Our favourite choice for dinner is Silk Road, a refined restaurant with a focus on authentic provincial Chinese cuisines. We were lucky enough to savour knife-shaved noodles and Shanxi dumplings handmade by Chef Huang, who’s just come on board – this exclusive menu is only available till 31 May 2017, so do try it if you get the chance.

Trendy al fresco atmosphere at Element on Tras
Yummy local fare can be had around the clock at Café Oriental
For a place to chill (perhaps when the kids are in bed), head to Alphabet bar, where fine wines are paired with live music. Or try Spanish tapas and premium beers at Element on Tras Street, helmed by Chef Samuel Quan, World Gourmet Summit 2017’s Apprentice Chef of the Year. If you get hungry in the middle of the night, tuck into authentic local cuisine at the nostalgic 24-hour Café Oriental.
Other dining options are Bar-Roque Grill, Hyangtogol Korean Restaurant, Santaro by Gion and Thanying Restaurant. And we haven’t even started on everything situated in the vicinity of the hotel, least of all Tanjong Pagar Plaza and Food Centre just across the road!

Lots of Fun Things to Do
Amara Singapore’s relaxing half-Olympic-sized swimming pool
Head to Level 6, where several facilities converge. There’s the tranquil rooftop swimming pool, which is beautifully landscaped Balinese-style. It’s open from 7am to 10pm. On the same level is a fitness centre offering state-of-the-art exercise machines, as well as a spa. One of the more surprising facilities in the hotel is a futsal court, located on Level 8. It’s open daily from 7am to midnight, and run by Stadio Futsal.
Lots to explore at 100 AM mall next door to Amara Singapore
Right next door, and in fact with a direct link on the hotel’s lobby level, is 100 AM. The four-storey mall has about 80 retail and F&B outlets. This means even more dining options, such as Itadakimasu by PARCO for Japanese food lovers, as well as a supermarket in the basement. If parents need some alone time, you can drop your little one off at the newly opened Playkeroo indoor play gym on the fourth floor – it offers unlimited playtime for a fixed fee all year round!

A garden dedicated to the Vanda Miss Joaquim in the vicinity of Amara Singapore
Amara Singapore’s central location also means you’re just minutes away from being a tourist in your own country. After all, when was the last time you visited the historic sites in Chinatown and along the Singapore River? Within walking distance of the hotel are Duxton Plain Park and Pearl’s Hill City Park as well. Here’s a fun tip: Go on a ‘treasure’ hunt for the following two things…and have fun exploring!
- A tribute to Singapore’s national flower, the Vanda Miss Joaquim
- The Poo Thor Jee temple (also known as 普陀寺 or Pu Tuo Si), which was founded by Venerable Zhuan Dao in 1911
