Social worker from Help Family Service centre may be able to help address both your financial and emotional needs including mediating with alleged baby's father.
Under the Guardianship of Infant Acts, once paternity of the father can be proven via court order DNA test, regardless of legitimacy of the child, both parents are responsible to support the child until legal age of 21 years (at least). The maintenance order can be enforced under the Women's Charter once paternity has been established and you have the custody to the child... However, in order to have a viable legal case to happen, the child must be born first, then the DNA test can be performed.
Comcare should also be able to help you in some areas such as grants and subsidies subject to approval...
