Year 2016 IVF Mummy To-Be

Anybody did prenatal yoga? I went for one lesson but wondered if it's harming the baby in any way. It's not as relaxing as I thought it'd be. :-/ Quite stressful for me cos I've nvr gone for any form of yoga before. Since our babies are hard to come, I wonder if I should still continue or should just do walking etc instead.

My fitness trainer say 1st tri cannot do, but 2nd tri should be ok. Yoga is generally gentle so most preggies find it ok. However, if you are not used to it, better don't start now. Do what you've been doing prior to pregnancy. The safest is always swimming.

Thank you Shiro_ger for asking. P-brain me forgot to update you babes. So apparently i was just asked to continue with my folic acid & dusphaston. The doc mentioned something about the baby trying to attach itself to my uterine muscles or something to that line. I swear all i wanted to know is my baby is doing gd.. But yeah heart was beating just as good. No more scare episodes after that so far.

Anyway i want to rant..

This morning i went for my DS scan. Left my son with my mom at home so i could quickly get it done.

During the scan however, something seems like wasnt right. There are 2 senior sonographers & 1 junior. They were saying must check properly, etc. Took ard 45 mins to complete the scan. I felt so cold. I was wondering if anything was wrong.

After which i was told to wait for the doctor's review. Waited for ard 30 mins. I looked ard and felt so alone. Everyone had their husband with them. Sadly mine is away out at sea, and so far hasnt yet seen the baby thru e scan at all. Waiting seems forever. So the doctor said that baby are in e low risk of DS. However during the scan, they couldnt detect the nasal bone, which is pretty common this early. So more detailed check will be done at e 20th week.
I just pray that eveything is fine with my baby.

Oh, If you are not used to yoga it will be very 'shiong'. Some yoga is very relaxing like breathing n simple stretches but some can be super tiring. You need to gauge if it is too tiring you probably shouldn't over exert. Maybe you can chat with the yoga instructor about this. Ultimately if you are not comfortable then stick to walking or swimming at your own leisure pace. ;)

Yup it was v shiong for me! And yes, maybe I think I shd just stick to walking or swimming. Just to be safe.

Yah they will only allow to do from 2nd trimester but yes, you are right, I shouldn't do new things ie. things I've not done before. Just to be safe.

Glad that all is ok!

You are in which week babe? Several weeks ago I also had a detailed scan for them to check the liquid behind the neck etc. Did you do Harmony or Oscar?

I think if Dr said low risk then all should be fine. :)

Did they suggest that you do harmony at week 17? If not, i guess all's well so dun worry too much. Or if u r still worried, just go for harmony.

My FTS was bad too but not for DS. D ratio was 1:38 for tri 13 and 18. This result was moderated due to my blood test (can see nasal bone of the surviving twin). Tho dr suspected it could be due to d twin tt stopped growing, he could not be absolutely sure. I can't do harmony coz mine is a twin pregnancy. Was recommended to do amnio. End up went for 2nd opinion and was cleared of everything. My week 20 scan was also good.

And when i go for scans, i also go alone most of the time coz dh can't be around due to work. But we are not alone coz i'm sure their hearts are with us.

Hi I am new to this forum. Would like to ask if anyone experience like your menses going to come post embryo transfer. Gg for my BT this coming Mon. The 2ww is really depressing.

I didn't have spotting but I had cramps. I thought it was a failed cycle. But it wasn't. So don't give up! Stay positive! :)

My dr not to swim in 1st Tri coz 1st Tri pregnancy is still unstable. Avoid swimming to prevent possible infection.

Oh yah, I think 1st trimester can't do a lot of things right? I'm in my 2nd. But ooh.. I just read that swimming may not be good cos of the chlorine. The baby can have allergies when it grows up due to the exposure. Not sure how concrete is the study, but maybe better to err on the side of caution.

Yes, 2 days after ET I have spotting which lasted for 7 days. I suppose as long as not red bleeding or no pain/cramps accompanying the bleeding, most likely should be alright. All the best for your BT. :)

Weenie, there's a very strong community of IVF ladies on another board. Look under 'Matters of the Heart' > 'IVF/ICSI Support Group'. IVF is a journey for which you would need a lot of support and I drew tremendous comfort from the ladies on that board.

Brown or pink discharge may also be released due to implantation. Don't scare yourself prematurely. Until the blood test is out, it is too early to say you have failed.

I know you are feeling anxious and helpless right now, especially having gone through the gruelling process of IVF and now fearing that you may not have succeeded. Try and surrender the issue because you have already tried your best, and gone as far as science can push. You have tried your best, no regrets.

Worse come to worse, even if this time it's not successful, it doesn't mean the next time it won't be.

Chin up and Jiayou ok.

Thanks littlemonkies for the words of encouragement. Telling myself to be strong. I have prepared for the outcome.

don't sad ok gal..during tbhe whole 9mths of my pregnancy my hb also not around..he was not there to touch my tummy or talk to babies..but no choice..hv to work and also provide for family..what matters is bbs and you are well. As for the nasal bone thingy..don't worry, asian babies hv flatter nasal bones so that might be why the scan couldn't show. Just continue to relax and think positive as you hv gone thus far now :)

Ladies, I am in shocked now. Just went for the scan, and now doctor detected 3 heart beat. Was counseled on the many many potential risks involved, one twin sharing placenta, and on premature labor. And mother have even high risk of high blood pressure and diabetes. Doctor recommend to reduce the pregnancy... I see the scan pictures really no heart to remove anyone of them.

The first scan doc didn't detect? This is such a hard decision to reduce the pregnancy

Oh dear! What a shocker that must have been.

Suggest you visit another doctor for 2nd opinion. I can totally understand what you mean when you say it's difficult to choose one child over the other. These are your children living inside you right now. It is too cruel to require you to choose.

Consider Dr. Biswas from NUH. He is renowned for handling complicated pregnancies. If you prefer private, Dr. Ann Tan is rather well known. Best of luck dear. Stay strong. Many people have survived triplets pregnancies, and triplets have survived well too. Jia you!

Seek for alternative opinion. After all 3 of them is consider a life to u

Thanks ladies. Now can only wait for the next scan and was made to see prof biswas for his advice. Hopefully can keep all of them.

Now totally cannot sleep at all. Other than the serious bad MS, many many worries. :(

@cowmoomoo
Oh my. How many embryos did you transfer?

Hope you can keep all of them. Stay strong and keep talking to them. Doctor always want us to be prepared for the worst but don't let it dwell on you.

I transferred my last two surviving embryos. One split into two. Did multiple scans and only found out at week 9. Really very shocking up to now. Just hope for the best now.

Hi

I would like to check.
Anyone knows how long does the whole ivf procedures takes? Example: from registration until procedure transfer ? I am thinking about ivf . What are the test needed to do before that ? And the cost of it ? Anyone knows?

You may want to check on another thread which consists of ladies who are currently undergoing IVF... they should be able to provide more detailed and up to date info. Look under 'Matters of the Heart' > 'IVF/ICSI Support Group'.

Good luck!

For diabetes I think the doc is concern for gestation diabetes which is common for preg women. Or whose family has history of diabetes n age above 35 or for bigger size. After Bb is out everything is back to normal le. As for blood pressure just need to monitor I guess.

I'm also praying for you that the babies will all make it! For us IVF ladies, every child is a blessing. To have been blessed with children but then forced to kill them is nothing short of cruel. Jiayou and keep us posted k!

My breast is so itchy especially at night! I can see stretch marks too starting on my breast.

I had that! It was so irritating. :-( Told my gynae and she gave me the cream. It's like eczema or something. It's so much better now after applying it. Try asking your gynae for something to help with the itch.

That must be a real shock! *hugs hugs* I hope all is fine and you can keep all 3!

Hi ladies, just wanna check if any ivf mummies are seeing Dr Benjamin Tham? I made a call and was told by the receptionist that he doesn't accept ivf pregnancy case.

Any recommendation for good private doctors who do accept ivf pregnancy cases?

Why u dun want to stay throughout with the ivf doc?

I have spotting since bfp till now. I read that other ladies who experienced spotting were given jabs. But in my case, I was spotting on and off for weeks. I reported my situation to the nurses/doctor and they asked me to monitor. I wasn't' given jabs. Then one fateful day, I am bleeding fresh red and had to go to A&E when they finally gave me a jab. I was advised by some to seek private doctors instead. But it didn't occur to me that some doctors don't accept ivf cases till I made that phone call just now.

Forget to add that my ivf doctor will not be doing delivery. So end of day also need to switch doctor.
