Hi, may i know if theres anyone who is under dr adrian and has chosen mt alvernia? Did he discourage u to go mt alvernia?

Ya he discourage me saying there'll be jam at Mt Alvernia and he'll be stuck in jam cannot deliver for me... WTF. I thought tmc is more jam lor... He seems to have a strong preference for tmc. Even the clinic nurse tells me that.
Oh dear! I've delivered previously at TMC and don't really like it there. And based on some positive feedbacks on Mt A, thus want to delivered my second one at Mt A this time. I think regardless of whatever reasons he give, IT is your decision to give birth at whichever hospital you're comfortable with. Don't let his convenience sway you!

He will ask u if u wanna risk your self and the baby. That is what I m told.
During my last visit to him, I confirmed with him I would like to deliver at Mt A, he drew and explained in details the inconvenience of the carpark. He said that as its undergoing renovations now, there is only 1 entrance and exit for all cars and there is no valet parking, unlike TMC. The nearest carpark would be MacRichie and if there's any emergency or anything, it will hamper his arrival.
I guess I can understand from his POV that he doesn't want anything major to happen to the mother, but from a mother's POV, I choose the hospital because of good maternal care, I don't really care two hoots about the inconvenience of it all.

i think we need to consider the doctor's preference though we may have different ideas from him. Stepping back and think, the safety of the mother and baby are more important that the maternal care, environment, services etc. If the doctor is not comfortable, be it the traffice jam, the facilities (operating machines and tools), i think it is not wise to "force" the doctor to choose otherwise. from my understanding, he is more comfortable with the facilities in tmc (the nurses, the tools) and maybe the culture of working..he found Mt A nurses are not as fast (to his own expectation).
to add on, mayb there is a few people giving birth in TMC compare to one person in Mt A. he had to rush to the Mt A just to do so. So not efficient and delay. Btw Mt delivery suite and operating suite are not on the same floor, had to take lift. In TMC, the turnaround time will be faster as delivery and operating suites are in the same floor. So i think he has other considerations to make and that why he prefer TMC compare to Mt A. Just a note, we engage the doctor to help us to deliver the baby safely and ensure the mummy is safe, hence whether TMC or Mt A, it is no longer important, my 2cent worth opinion
Of course, in the end, it is the mummy's choice eventually and the mummy need to understand and accept the risk which the doctor had highlighted.

FYI. Adrian Woodworth is under Thomson Women's Clinic which belongs to TMC. So he has to market TMC instead of Mt A. Otherwise it'll be like giving business to competitor.

Hi mink, same with qx13, his explanation was because the carpark is under reno until next year. And when you're staying in the hospital, there might be construction noise. I think he wants you to be comfy too.
But me & hubby still went with mount A, and he's ok with that too. Thankfully last March I delivered safely and satisfied with both doc & hospital (doc was not late or in a hurry, nurse was very nice and helpful with breastfeeding). And no noise at the room too. Goodluck on the delivery

Because it happenned to me when he delivered my baby Nov year 2011, he stucked in the traffic jammed about 2 hours.
Luckily me & my baby was safely.
He was very fast & pro.
my hubby said that he likes Superman or transformer .. hahha
but now Mt. A has a free Valet parking so shouldn't be a problem for him ah..
I will still go back to see him for my No.2 & stay in Mt. A

Me also facing the same issue. He drew out the map and kept telling me horror stories about later the baby turn blues, died then no one can save your baby. But I went for the tour and the lady said, he is well known for that.
Noscon, so did you still decided to choose Mt A? Because I told him a 2nd time I wanna go Mt A. He like not happy and my hubby want me to choose TMC. But Mt A told me if doc can't make it, their senior midwife will be there to do it.

I think I will go tmc in the end since the way he put it is like I will endanger my baby if I go mt a. Anyway only for 1 night so just tahan. Just blame my luck that he is so against mt a. I won't recommend him to my friends cos I think he is not very professional in this matter since its stated in the package that he can deliver at both places...
