Recommendation for Lactation Consultant IBCLC for first time mom

I’m so grateful for the support I received from my lactation consultant during my early postpartum days and would like to share this to first time mothers like me who had struggle with breastfeeding.

As a first-time/new mother, I was overwhelmed and unsure, but she went far beyond just helping with latching. I got recommended by my friend during my engorgement time and got her do home visit for me 3 times. She opened ducts, released engorgement and pain, fixed my latching issues. Now my baby is 4 months old and I’m happily breastfeeding and pumping without an issue.

She patiently guided me step-by-step with positioning, latch, and troubleshooting, and she also supported me with practical baby care tips that made a huge difference at home. What I appreciated most was her emotional support, she listened without judgment, reassured me when I was anxious, and helped me feel confident as a mother. She tried her best to support my goal.

She even took the extra time to teach my husband how to support me (how to help with positioning, soothe baby, and what to watch for), which made us feel like a true team. He is very hands-on and more confident after her session. We had a good start for our baby because of her. Without her guidance, I think I would be an another panicking mother with lots of struggles in breastfeeding and baby care. Her care was professional, gentle, and genuinely heartfelt we can see that she is very passionate in supporting babies and mothers.

Of all the good things she has done for me, one thing I like the most is she is not pushy. I have practised with her for around 3 sessions (1 for engorgement and 2 sessions were for latching and supply), and wanted to book for more, she told me to give myself time as she doesn’t want me to spend unnecessarily.

Her name is Lactation Consultant Heather, IBCLC and senior nurse, number is 97286017. She only does this as freelance and her home visits sessions are affordable compared to market rate for home visits (I checked a few hospital LCs and the usual home visit cost 300+ SGD per session. Her rate is half of this only, but not sure now. It may change according to inflation.) Very rare to find IBCLC with hospital experience in Sg at this rate. There is no package, every session is à la carte. Only need to book her when necessary. If you’re looking for a lactation consultant who is knowledgeable, patient, and willing to go the extra mile for both baby and parents at the comfort of your home, I highly recommend her.
