Hi. Just wondering if there is a possibility of a pure close platonic friendship between a married woman and male colleague? As the hubby, I felt a bit uncomfy. Like to seek opinion here. Tk u.

Platonic friendship? Sharing problems? Once they rely on each other emotionally.... it'll no longer be simple. Many still said it's possible. But I'll never agree to that.

Impossible. Once a man and a woman gets too close, romantic emotions and attraction will develop. I never believe in platonic relationship between a man n a woman, unless the man is gay or the woman is lesbian.

I hv a few super close guy friends n colleagues whom I confide everything,, 1000% platonically even if I'm single, dead drunk whatever, I won't even consider them.

mikki, in fact my hb is those who will be posted overseas on and off for work for quite some time (few months), there's actually plenty of opportunity but neh..over my dead body n I m really dead serious about it, luv my hb to bits to even cast eyes on others..hehe..

SC, he noes all about them but still wanted me to keep a distance which I m fine too.

Right now as Im staying overseas, my guy friend do still occasionally update me in every aspect of their life, the most recently was the dad got a terminal illness, his new gf, balloting a new flat and now finally getting married soon.
He will be arranging me to see his wife to be soon when I m back.

Not only that, the other guy colleague joined us at every outing too, sending us home and he's engaged too with a lovely air stewardess gf. My hb knew about him too and he's fine. It has been so many years. I have plenty of platonic guy friends.

SC - it really depends on individual. some ppl will only b platonic after they've slept with each other. while some do nt require that step. so, u really need to knw ur wife/partner character/personality well enuff.

I used to have platonic male frens but hb got uncomfortable after marriage, so i respected his wish n kept my distance.

Hi sc,

U r feeling uncomfy. I believe you should let your wife knows about your feeling. You will feel miserable if you hid your feeling from her n this is very unhealthy to your marriage life.

Take some time off, both of you can go on a special date n spend some romantic times together.

Good luck

I am married with two kids. I travel on business frequently and meet so called high flyer executives. I have all the opportunity to sleep around if I want to but never. I have many male platonic friends.

From a straight thinking woman's perspective, platonic friendship with men is possible. I dropped those who tried to get fresh with me in disguise of platonic friendship. It takes two hands to clap. Either you learn to have faith in your wife or work to strengthen your marriage to reduce the risk of the other party winning her over emotionally. Hope my sharing helps.

on the safe side...better keep a distance coz we will never noe whether it will happen and if it does it may be too late

Platonic relationship is possible if husband/wife has a strong marriage built on trust and love. Sparks may fly if either party is 'bored' or feels 'deprived'. Best to stay professional when working and don't have private dealings after working hours. Talk things through and don't accumulate suspicions etc 'cos that's not healthy either.

Sc,
Speak to ur wife abt this. Dun let this issue hv any chance to grow into resentment.

At least ur wife will noe ur tots.

We cant read a man's mind esp since man dun like to talk abt feelings...
