Went to kkh after ttc for one yr without success.
DH SA shows that there are zero sperms count.
He has preexisting condition undescended testicle which surgery was done was he was young.
Doctor told us straight in e face that we have 2 options either adopt or donor sperm. I'm feel so devastated over e news.. losing sleep and no appetite at all.
We are reviewing DH blood test for fsh, lh soon.
Anyone has heard similar exp.. can any tcm or fertility clinic give us any glimmer of hope? Feeling suicidal already

Sorry to hear that.. Perhaps can go to an andrology specialist to see if they can suggest any form of treatment that may help? It's good to seek a second opinion from another specialist. I have learnt that not all doctors/specialists are the same in terms of capabilities and judgement. Seeing the right doctor is very important. I have heard of cases where the sperm is obtained via surgery from the husband, not sure if this is feasible in your case. But certainly no harm checking and exploring all options possible.

Hi Tessbaby8

Don't panic. Seek second opinion for your hubby's case. I recommend my urologist who is located at both Gleneagles and Mt Elizabeth Novena. He is Dr Ho Siew Hong, a compassionate, patient and caring doctor. Do let me know if you need more details or referral.

Yes..go and seek out a second opinion.

More importantly, manage your emotions too. See a counsellor or psychologist if need be.... preferably as a couple. Don't let this hurt your marriage. Truth be told, sometimes even when the husband's sperms are functioning, the couple may not necessarily be able to conceive. This must hurt your husband as well... not being able to give to his wife what she wants so badly. So, dearie, manage yourself, and be understanding to your hubby as well k.

Jia you!

men are unlike women.
women's eggs reserve are fixed from birth.
men's sperms can be produced every now and then.
hubby should keep a healthy life style. take vitamins, supplements if recommended by doctor
try to destress if he has a stressful job.

Hi tessbaby8,which lab did you go to?try thomson tfc lab,sgh and kkh, they will do centrifugal to detect e sperms for low counts. Parkway lab do not do that.

See if 2nd lab yields same results 1 month plus later from yr 1st sa test. Jiayou

Hi tessbaby8,

I just came across this thread & i hope im not too late to help with some advise...

Depending on your hubby's FSH levels, the doc will prob tell you if your hubby has obstructive azoospermia or non-obstructive azoospermia.

If its non-obstructive, ask the doc to do a karyotyping & y-chromosomal microdeletion blood test.

This will give you more information on whether your hubby is genetically born with no sperms or not.

If his chromosomes are all normal, then you might wanna opt for micro-TESE to see if they can find some sperm and you can go for IVF-ICSI.

Hope this helps...

I hope I can embrace you with some hopes and see the light at the end of the tunnel.

I can truly understand how you are feeling right now. I was devastated then when we found out my DH's condition.

A lot of people will ask you to take a break now, don't think too much about it but I am going to ask you to do the opposite. Go ahead and think about it. Cry as much as you want to. Ask yourself the same question: donor or adoption again and again daily. It's the brutal truth and you need to come to terms with it fast! I don't know your age but I was 32 when we found out the problem. Not young anymore so no time to lose. So I drilled myself everyday to come up with a solution fast. DH left every decision to me because he felt that since it's his problem, he has no right to ask me to go for IVF if I don't want to. He also felt that it's also not right for him to ask for adoption if I cannot accept it.
