Nipple confusion and solutions

Hi mommies,

I have inverted nipples on both breast and have always find breastfeeding challenging. For my first born, he refuse to latch and even when he did, will not latch for long and I often had to top up with bottle. After 4weeks, I gave up BF but continue to give my son EBM until he was 12 months old. I always envy mothers who can BF direct and build the bond.

Therefore, for my 2nd child, I was determined to give BF another shot. My daughter has a stronger suck since birth and will suck with nipple shield. However, she was a jaundice baby so I had to top up with EBM for the first 2 weeks. Confinement nanny will help with latching and I'll latch baby at least twice a day. At 6 weeks, baby finally could latch without nipple shield but I still had to top up with bottle due to slow let down. And even when I latch baby on for 45 mins, only 2 let down at most.

Now at 7.5 weeks, my baby decided that she only wants bottle. Even when I try to go back using nipple shield, she would scream and cry each time.

I have tried all methods but didn't work:
1) express before latching
2) compress the breast
3) use nipple shield
4) allow her to latch before she gets too hungry
5) allow her to latch when she is hungry
6) allow her to latch after her bath in evening when things are quiet and calmer

All above didn't work and I'm at my wit's end. My husband advised me to take it easy and give up BM if it's so difficult. I'm feeling rejected by baby and am close to giving up. This will be my last baby and it will be a shame if I have to resort to pumping milk.

I'm feeling disappointed that she could latch just last week (without nipple shield) and now decide she don't it anymore.

I've read on some parenting sites where some say go cold turkey on the bottle, but some say baby need to feel full (using bottle or cup feed) and be happy before trying to coax baby back on breast. I'm confused.

Does anyone have a similar experience? Can any mommies provide advise?
