Hello mummies,

This is my first pregnancy (12 weeks now) and my work requires me to travel regionally for events. I have upcoming travel in March and April but don't feel safe to travel without my husband. Mainly because we went for a holiday trip in December and I found it very lethargic plus, I had to rely a lot on my husband to carry my luggage etc.

The doctor at KK had advised me that I'm safe to travel up to 36 weeks. But I still don't feel safe and want to be extra careful for my 1st child. My concern for work travel is the need to carry my own luggage, laptop bag, handbag and I will need to do event booth setup which could be very tiring. Has anyone successfully asked the doctor in KK to write a letter to indicate that you are unfit to travel for work while pregnant before?

Is it possible to speak to your boss to make some adjustments to your work scope?
Hi... my company is a small company and there is only me in my department. Also, my boss was already not too happy that I had wanted to take 4 months maternity leave continuously as there are some travel involved within that period. So I'm kind of scared to talk to him about this unless there is a doctor who is willing to back me up with an official letter.

You have to see your body condition. Not safe to travel for the 1st trimester as it's considered unstable stage.

I did travel after 1st trimester and even join a marathon for that. My conditions gets better.

Try not to carry heavy stuff and travel light if possible. See if you can talk to your boss to minimize your travel plans, believe he will be understanding.

Hi Amillia, I backed out of a work-trip when I was pregnant with my first child after TTC for many years. I was his deputy for that important meeting. Back then, I worried about how my boss would think of me and how the team would cope without me. Sure enough, there was some impact due to my absence but the world didn't stop spinning. Being a first time mummy, I didn't realize the limits of my body had changed due to the pregnancy. I'm glad that my family talked me out of that worktrip. Wouldnt be able to live with myself if something had happened on that trip. You could ask your doctor for the letter if it think it'll help the conversation with your boss. Good luck.

Yup, i start to prioritize my health and baby too. I manage to get a memo from the doc indicating tht i should not fly during my pregnancy. Am so glad tt - less stress and worries
