To all mums that will be delivering at Mount A & had decided to go for epidural or spinal, please take note of this anesthesiologist known as Dr Loo. I have a very bad experience with him...Heard that anesthesiologist assigned is chosen by your gynae so take note.
Dr Loo skill is LOUSY! Has super low EQ!
When I came out from the toilet after clearing my system, he was already in the delivery ward. He gave a brief intro (less than 1 min) of himself and started injecting epidural. As a first time mum and being caught off-guard (everything happen in like a split sec), I did what i was instructed. (FYI, mum can choose when the epidural to be injected..like when the contraction gets unbearable)
He is not focused in injecting the epi as he was chit chatting with the nurses in the room. The first injection went into my blood vessel and his reaction was to LAUGH and ask me why there is a blood vessel at that spot?! (Seriously?)...and then came the 2nd injection, again into my blood vessel and then he keep laughing and commented to my husband that there shouldn't be blood vessel there as he (Dr Loo) had chosen the 'prime spot' for the injection....then came the 3rd try and Dr Loo exclaimed 'Yeah! Finally! Okay you shouldn't feel any pain now' and he walks out of the delivery ward .
However, that was not the case... I can still feel my legs and I was like thinking to myself 'okay, epi needs some time to take effect' but about 10 mins later I still can feel my legs and the contractions (not painful just uncomfortable)...I feedback to the nurse and she said 'epi takes time to take effect'..so i thought 'ok i wait longer then' but felt weird as it shouldn't take this long....(FYI, i watched alot of baby stories, deliver me on starhub channel so i have all these knowledge). And bcos of this Dr Loo's LOUSY skillset, I endured the worst pain possible, when the nurse insert the urinary bag tube needle in my V-part.
After 2 hours of endless feedback and request to check the epi area, the nurses then call in Dr Loo's colleague to check on me and true enough...my back was all wet as the epi LEAKED! When Dr Loo's colleague came and re-do the epi injection, she put the epi level dosage so high that I was basically numb!! I was on overdose of epi for 13 hours just bcos of Dr Loo LOUSY skillset.
Fast forward, my gynae called to apologise on behalf of Dr Loo when I was in my 2nd week of confinement and minutes later Dr Loo himself called to 'apologise'. The entire apology phonecall consists of many many mentions of 'Although it's not my fault but'....HUH?!? Not your fault then it's my fault?!?
So mums, take note to CHANGE off this Dr Loo if he is your anesthesiologist. My case could be an isolated case (which i doubt as he mistook me for another patient which he later admitted in the conversation that I am the 2nd case on that day) but better to be safe than sorry.
