IVF SGH

I'm going to see Dr Yu for my first appt next Wed. Hope to start my 3rd fresh cycle at SGH next Mar/Apr. Failed 2x fresh and frozen at KK already. Hoping for change in luck with new hosp and doc! *fingers crossed*.

I made the appt on 18 Oct and 4 Nov was Dr Yu's earliest slot. So I guess current waiting time to see Dr Yu for consultation as a new (private) patient is abt 2 weeks?

Ladies, may I know how is the ER process like at SGH? Will you be sedated and asleep or will you be aware of what's happening? At KK I was totally knocked out and asleep for my retrievals. But I read that in SGH, the sedation is different. Is this true?

Also, in SGH, is the 2wk hospitalisation leave given after ER?

Thanks in advance.

I have done 2 cycles in ivf. Yes, will be under sedation and painkiller but I don't remember anything. I was very sleepy and slept throughout the procedure with no pain at all.

I have 2 weeks HL after transfer and 3 days MC after retrieval.

Hi all. Im planning to switch from kkivf to sgh. I failed my fresh & natural fet (both d5 blast) at kk. My husb & i do not have any medical issues. We cleared all tests prior ivf. It seem like my doc in kk unable to explain the failures and i didnt get a clear planning for 2nd fresh cycle. There's no changes in medications etc. Let alone support meds like blastgen, intralipid etc. Nothing being recomended. As far as i know kkh do not offer blastgen but not sure on intralipid drip. Anyone got intralipid from SGH before?
I'd like to know frm those who have switched to SGH, do we need to restart everythg again? I mean frm thorough checkup like HYFOSY (did in kkh) before sgh schedule us to start on ivf? Is thr any counselling session & fees same as kk? How the waiting time? Is it crowded just like kk?
I would appreciate replies for u ladies!

I failed 2 cycles at KK and also switched to SGH, seeing Dr Yu. I’m currently waiting to start my 3rd cycle in March. Yes, I had to redo all tests and husband redid sperm analysis before we can start. But maybe it’s because my tests are dated 2019. Dr Yu said I didn’t need to redo HSG. Counselling is also compulsory but it’s slightly cheaper than KK, around $100 plus if I recall.

There is currently long waiting time. I first saw Dr Yu in end Oct 2020. The next available counselling session was in end Nov. At counselling I was informed that all IVF slots were booked until Feb. My tests were scheduled in 1st week of Dec, and finally saw Dr Yu to review them on 28 Dec. By now, IVF slots booked until March so I got to wait til then.

I’m not sure if they have intralipid but Dr Yu has offered me to try blast gen and embryogen in next cycle.

I think if you are considering SGH, best to get an appointment with doctor asap else there‘s a wait for the whole process. From my experience at SGH so far, I’ll say it’s even more crowded than KK and longer waiting times at each appointment but I guess it’s because the clinic is so much smaller and there’s fewer staff.

I have been with SGH since last year and there is no q at all for last year. SGH nurse told me they have to limit patients due to covid and more people are doing ivf this year due to WFH too. That's why there is q for this year which is the same as other hospitals.

Previously I was frm private hospital before moving to SGH last year. I showed Dr Yu my reports done in private hospital and proceed with mandatory blood test by MOH, followed by ivf counselling. Am not required to do any other tests. Maybe u can check with the doctor.

I just did my 2nd fresh cycle and FET in Nov with blastgen/embryogen recommended by Dr Yu. Dr Yu also recommended PGS test which cost abt 5k but I did not proceed with the test.

Currently, 7 weeks pregnant with twins with day 6 blastocysts :)
Baby dust to you ladies! :)

You reply will help me alot to prepare on switching. Thank u! May i know what tests u need to redo except for HSG/HYFOSY & sperm analysis? Do u meant by all the blood tests?
If possible i just want to avoid doing HSG/HYFOSY again, it was so damn painful! But if this still required by SGH then i've no choice :( All my blood tests was done in kkh quite recently somewhr within last 6 mths except for HYFOSY which i did in Aug 2018 in kk.
I ever did my HSG long time ago in NUH in 2013 and everything was cleared hence dr advise me to still try for natural. Such a waste of time.
Are all your test included HSG dated in 2019?

Btw may i know how SGH going to retrieve our previous reports frm kk? Do we need to ask it frm our current dr? Or these gvt hospitals have the access to it?

Hi Jojo
Congrats on yr pregnancy! Wish u a healthy & happy 9 months journey! I wish all ladies will get their BFP soon. Probably switching from private to gvt is abit different from gvt to gvt in terms of having to bring reports to current dr? May i know if u tell yr previous dr honestly that u were moving to other clinic and u get yr reports or did u pay for yr reports and request it frm your previous dr?

I will be seeing Dr Yu for the first time on 20/1. Due to endometriosis, had not been able to fall pregnant.
Glad to know that some of u are seeing her too.

Hello everyone! I'm new here! Just completed our IVF Counselling with SGH Care under Dr Hema. We are planned for IVF in April. The process has been quite fast and smooth for us so far. Nurse told us to arrange for 5k in cash (after government subsidies). Just taking it by the appointment for now and don't really know what to expect. I've read up that frozen cycles have any higher succes rate than fresh cycle? Will we be given any option to choose? We will also be taking the IVF-ICSI route.

They gave my appointment date when we saw our doctor. Doesnt seem to be a long wait. We had a slot the next week already. Maybe try checking with them? Which doctor you following up with?

Really? They ask me to wait for sms.
I'm with Prof Yu. What about you?

But it's not like there are no patients in CARE, given how I have to wait for quite some time for my visit and sometimes they run out of seats. :D

Perhaps the CARE patients happen to be the group that don't discuss much.

But it does seem like most ladies would pick NUH & KKH over SGH. I would have gone to NUH if I didn't have another medical condition that I was following up at SGH + TTSH. Didn't want to go round Singapore's hospitals so decided to just go SGH for easier comm between the doctors as well. Which did prove useful for me.

Haha... Ya maybe SGH ivf warriors are more introvert... I've went there 3x and the slope up to the hospital from mrt is the "killer" my legs always ache after "climbing" up!
But no complains cos good things are worth the 'climb'. I'm really comfortable with Dr Yu. :)

Hi there! Am w SGH since 2019 and now pregnant w twins (15 weeks), under Dr Yu.
Totally agree w the climbing up frm the hospital especially tough to climb during pregnancy! I like CARE nurses and the experience there. The nurses are very caring and supportive! You guys are in good hands.

Wish you guys all the best and baby dust to all :) jiayou!!

Been with CARE since 2019 too and I like most of the nurses there too! Some of them really make the whole process a little easier to handle.

Congrats!!!

I had my first visit to CARE last week. The nurses are very helpful and approachable.

Hi all, im currently an NUH patient and is going/waiting for my 2nd round. However with all the lab closures and stuff, am considering to switch to SGH!

If any of you were at CARE this afternoon, you may have seen the husband of a patient visiting with their newborn triplets. :)

Seeing them warmed my heart and I was so envious at the same time. But I'm also happy they made it and was smiling behind my mask when I overheard the husband saying they're gonna close factory lol

Hi ladies! I’m still in my TWW but planning to switch to SGH.. seems like can’t get an appointment directly at CARE for first time & have to go to O&G first? Anyone knows?
Perhaps you will get good news and don't have to go SGH! ☺

I go O&G first then they brief me what number to call n when to call.

Baby dust to u!

It was different for me coz I had booked an appointment with CARE directly back then in 2019. Could have been a change in their process.

Thanks again for all your replies! :) They put me up for an appointment w Dr Yu at O&G (seeing her as gynae instead of IVF Specialist), then thereafter i guess she will transfer me to CARE.
My appointment is about 2 weeks from the time i call!

Hi everyone. Anyone knows some reasons that SGH Care might reject sperm samples for storage? We are sdcheule to commence the process in April, depending on my husband's samples. However, first trial of storing sperms failed. We have two more trials to try storing it.

Hi, does anyone knows how's the ivf procedure like in SGH? Do the ivf doctors perform the scan themselves or the scanning is done by the sonographers in KKH? I came from NUH and the scans are done by the doctors themselves which I preferred.. but the NUH IVF lab is closing for reno hence I need to look for alternatives.

Scans are not done by the doctors. It's all done by the sonographers.
