IVF Mummies-To-Be Support Group

Kim75,
Yeah! Dr Loh also turned up in the next early morning when I was admitted and he really surprised me. I was on drip the 1st day warded and was discharged on the 2nd day. B4 that, I went to 24 hrs clinic cos I sprained my ligament ( a few days a/f knowing the + result). The Dr there wanted to admit me and also wanted to do x-ray , I rejected the option and left with panadol prescription. I kept on crying, feeling very helpless for the next few days, but still ended up in hospital with diarrhoe and vomitting. The begining was not easy to me, but luckily after clearing all these barrier, I find my journey more smoother. Now, I feel more lighter (with no more MS) and going out have the privelege of pp let me sit or go 1st w/o queing. Dun worry, along our way we will see rainbow

stacy,
congrats on your twin boys!! cool!!

blackcurrant, kim,
welcome gals... i guess we are pretty close ... I am at week 7, which week r u at?

ya.. the mtb journey is definitely more challenging! I went through a few challenges during the past 3 weeks too... I kept talking to my babies to be strong and fight this battle with me. The doctor actually gave me one month MC to rest as much as possible and to minimise movement. Today (which is my week 7), I went down for a scan and doc confirmed that there's 2 heart beats!!

you may check my blog for details and updates: http://www.nafeeza.blogspot.com/

dodo,

dodo,
Glad to know your two precious and you are okay now!

Hui,
Please take care and I think you've already packed your bag ready

Catherine,
Are you given appt to do scanning in week 20th and 25th to measure blood flow to uterus? 2 dates are given to me and they explained it is neccessary for twins pregnancy to do such scanning. How's the process like? Will the sonographer scan our babies as well? I'm always looking forward to seeing the babies.
It's a great idea to have single stroller, bcos sometimes we may only require to bring 1 out. I have 1 single stroller left by my nephew and really can cut down $$,but my HB wants to buy 1 more twins stroller. So far, have you done any financial consultation on delivery package? I walked -in and asked a few questions during last visit and find out that delivery of twins does not required xtra cost , except we have to pay double for neonatal care.I tot we have to pay more for Dr's fees.

Jeni,
Have you bought breast pump? I'm looking at different types of pump, not sure which one is better. Any GREAT suggestion?

deerdeer,
ya, don't worry... it's ok not to have ms... this really depends on individual.

blackcurrant, kim,
cool... we r very close! do rest well too! r u gals working or on MC? if working, pls take things easy at work, ok?
wink.gif

Stacy,
nope, I have not bought breast pump yet as still looking. Probably buy a manual one to try out first.... actually, I want to buy Avent Duo but it is super expensive at $799. Don't think is worth to get it. Avent Uno is said to be restricted to one speed only. Hence, haven't made up my mind yet as I still have to get 2 sterilisers from Avent and they are like almost $200 each! So, I may just get a cheap manual one first. Anyone has any good suggestion?

Stacy,
Done 1 of my scan yesterday regarding to the blood flows to the uterus or the babies. Doc said they are doing well and measure 1kg and 900g respectively.Have not done any financial comparision yet, anyway 99.9% will deliver in KK. But till now, I'm still not too keen with the doc there. Very confused feeling.

Jeni and Stacy,
I've bought my breastpump, Medela Swing ($333 and it comes with ice pack carrier bag) from Taka Baby Fair the previous time. The salesgal was very good, she let me tried on my arm and that pump has massage and let-down function, the best part is the machine is very quiet. My friend pass 1 Medela Mini Electric pump to me and the noise was like those grass cutting machine. Imagine u have to pump milk in the office. The whole world would hear it.

Anyone got anti-premature injection? I forgot the actual name of the medicine and the jab was done on the thigh. I've done 4 so far and the 3rd one (last week) was the worse, it's cause reaction and I experienced swelling and itchiness even till today.

Told doc abt it and she said let's try another one on the other thigh and see whether I have the same reaction again, if there's it means I'm allergy to the medicine. I feel like a guinue pig.

Anyone experience this injection before??

hi girls...
I am into my 5.5 weeks.... find that like I seem to have more sensitive nose and sinusitis... anyone got similar situation?

Hi! Catherine,
So far, I've not been prescribe with the anti-premature injection. I would like to find out more from you as under what consequences that we are given such injection or from which week onwards? Are you also under Dr Loh? In fact I'm not so keen in comparing price with other hospital, but more interested to find out how much more we have to pay for twins, so that can do some budgeting on which ward to stay. If you managed to find out anything, pls share with me.Okay?

hi Stacy,
I was given the jab ard 22 weeks onwars, each jab cost abt $20. Doc prescribe this jab to me cos she scare that most twins pregnancy will lead to earlier birth, it's so-called prevention. I'm not under Doc Loh, I'm under De Sadhana, an Indian lady.
So far I never do any comparation also, I just go and pay whayever they tell me. I'm a civil servant, therefore most payment is done thru my pay.

Deerdeer,
Pregnant woman tends to have sentitive nose due to the increase blood flow to our body (u have extra baby inside too). Therefore u tends to have blocked nose and nose bleed more often. I've experienced that even till now. Don't worry too much

hello ladies

I'm having twins and at week 7 now. I keep vomitting out whatever I eat. How do u all prevent it? Anything special to eat?

At 1st trimester, what do u all eat and do?

Dodo,
I am currently working but sometime feel tiring too. What about u?

Koala & Stacy,
Just want to share with you. I have checked with Dr Loh regarding the "Metacloparomide" for vomitting, he said no problem to take.

Joan,
Welcome & congrats ! May be you may tell your doc see what the doc can presribe to you. For me, the doc prescribed "Metacloparomide" for prevent vomitting. Which hospital are you with?

Thanks Catherine.
So I will be mentally prepared if Dr prescribed me to have the injection. Pardon my ignorance, as it is my 1st time came across it. Is it painful?

Joan,
GongXi!GongXi! Another twins MTB....WElcome

blackcurrant,
So it is safe to eat. At least get reassurance 1st from Dr.
Jiayou!!

Joan,
welcome to the thread. I'm also pregnant with twins and currently at 26 weeks. I didn't experienced vomitting during my 1st trimester but i'd read from somewhere that drinking ginger tea helps or keep some snacks at yr bedside. Eat them before u wake up to brush yr teeth. Hope this help.

Stacy,
The injection is PAINFUL! The medicine is very sticky, the nurse will inject slowly into yr thigh, after she pull out the needle, u can feel the medicine slowly flows in yr injection area. The pain will take abt 2 days to clear. Last injection I even took 1 day mc to rest.

girls.. do you sometimes feel pregnant and sometimes you dont? like.. one day you are nausea and sore breast.. but the next day you dont?

Ladies

Thanks for the well wishes. I'm with KKH. Previously was a IVF patient.

I am now on Metaclopromide cos if I dun eat, I tend to vomit out all the food I consumed. I dun know when it will stop, hopefully it will be soon soon soon. Dr told me the nausea will be worse as I'm having twins.

Any ladies under KKH can help me with some questions? I am now a private patient at clinic D but my dr told me that I can actuially save some money if I were to see her at the private suite instead of clinic D. Is that true? Do you all know the price differences and the services they provide between clinic D and the private suite?

hi joan,
congrats and welcome! i am having twins as well and currently at week 8. we are very close indeed and will have a lot to share...

so far, i have do not have morning sickness so am not able to advise you much but i did read somewhere that having drinking ginger tea helps (some ginger slices, some brown sugar and water to boil together).

blackcurrant,
i am on MC for the rest of this month due to 2 bleeding incidents. doc requires me to bed rest as much as possible during the first trimester. praying hard that all will be fine.

Catherine, can i check the injection u mentioned... is it proluton? i asked to have it injected in buttock and its better.... nurse taught to give a little cough when needle is going in /out. its effective. after that there'd be a little soreness.... which is normal.

Hi Joan!
Welcome.
I think PS is more expensive than Clinic D. However, not much... only about 6 dollars diff in terms of consultation fees and you can get your medicine straight from PS. You need not go to pharmacy to collect them, only selective medicine or when the stock is out, then you will need to go to the pharmacy. The ambience there is great and I think it is worth it. This is just my personal opinion. Maybe you can check with your gynae why is it cheaper and asked her to explain to you.

joan,
Agreed with jeni that the price in TPS is $6 more for each consultation. The ambience and convenience are plus factor.Same as you, I was previously seeing Dr at clinic D at private rate, and since pregnant have switched to TPS bcos TPS open on Sat,some weekday nites and my Husband can accompany me to see the scanning of our bbs 2gether.

Jeni,
So far, have you been prescribed with the injection mentioned by Catherine? Not sure is this a "Must" for everyone, so afraid of poking again.

jeni & stacy

is it only more expensive in terms of consultation? My dr said the consultation is inclusive of the scanning? Is that true? If I were to switch to PS now, will the delivery charges goes up also?

ladies..

is it true that for the 1st consultation we must go clinic D first.. thereafter then can switch to TPS for subsequent appts?

i am current under Dr SF Loh.

Stacy, I am not prescribed with any injection so far except during first trimester when I had slight bleeding. Those injections were oil based and yes, injected into the thigh and yes, they were painful. They were to strengthen the pregnancy. Other than that, nothing else. This Friday, I will have to do the oral test for gestation diabetes. Hopefully everything is fine.

Joan, I think the delivery charges should be the same, depending which package you choose.

Hopes, I think you can switch to TPS at any time you like...

Jeni,
Good Luck in the coming OGTT. Remember to eat more tonite and store some food in stomach until 2morrow, bcos fasting may end till 11plus.

Joan,
Yeah! The Consultation fees at TPS include scanning. DElivery charges may depend on whether you choose premium or classic? YOu can go to KKH website to check on the various maternity packages or check with the counter for more info or get pricelist for the breakdown. Till now, I'm still quite confused with some of the details and was told I will be given financial consultation only in 6th or 7th month.

deerdeer
At early stage, I dun feel pregnant but only feel the symptom of pregnancy. You feel more "REAL" when DR do scanning of your baby. It is normal to have symptoms like sore breast, nausea....

hi,

i've just been tested positive on sat and hope i can join in this thread since i think all of u r from KKH. I'm from Mt E.

any idea what's the significant of doing blood test BHCG? I did mine on D14, D16 & D18.

I'm also on injection Proluton every 4 days and it's really painful.

I dont feel pregnant or any different except that at night, my stomach feel bloated? cramps? just uncomfortable. is this normal?

Catherine,

Hello..how are you doing? Have not be coming to this forum for a while. I'm into Week 15...still lazy feeling and big apetite!

holi00
Good to hear of another IVF-success...
Just to share with you... i also don't feel preggie cos' i've been quite "heng" so far (touch wood!) not to experience morning sickness. Only complain is that my tummy has been bloated all the way since i tested +ve and it affects my appetite cos' i feel so "full" n uncomfortable...
no worries, different people hv different response to the preggie symptoms. Yours might appear later...
Take Care!

hi ladies..

will the same doc for our IVF follow us thru our pregnancy all the way till delivery..?

holi00,

Congrats to u..! I was also tested positive yesterday.. so happy
happy.gif

hopes,

No. go see your gynae. They will prescribe medication specially for pregnancy. Please remember your ivf treatment is costly, don't take the risk in self medication.

Bodhi..

Oh..okie.. thanks for ur advise..

I think I better make a trip down to KKH if my flu doesn't get better..

btw.. check with u hor.. are sleepless nites common for initial stage..? i take very very long to fall asleep everyday ever since my FET. even if i managed to fall asleep.. it's only for a while and i will auto wake up to pee.. flip here flip there etc.. so uncomfortable.. every morning i wake up with Panda eyes when i go to work.. so tired..
sad.gif

anyone with similar experience..?

hopes

Is normal, our uterus is expanding due to p, so in the 1st trim, you will have to get up in the middle of the nite to pee... so try not to drink much water 1 to 2 hours before your bed time.

On your question to appoint Dr Loh as your gynae, I think he will be "automatic" be our gynae in KK until our delivery. I know your 1st appt is on Sat, be prepared, TPS nowadays very very long q....

Koala..

how abt the sleepness nites..? do u experienced that..?

really ah..? TPS q very long ah..hmm..
sad.gif
average wait for sat is abt how long..? any idea..?

Mesh,
Now u mentioned it, yeah the medicine is call Proluton. Yesterday took another jab again, 1 nurse had to hold down my leg cos she told me I'm too tense already. Luckily only 1 more to go. Phew!

Bodhi,
Hi, long time never hear from u. Wednesday nite I was down with gastric and I had sleepless nite, it's only until yesterday morning at 6am then I asked my hubby to send me to KKH. Nurse at the Delivery Suite immediately hook me up with the CTG to check babies heartbeat. After doc checkup, I was down with stomach flu and fever, given 2 days MC to rest at home.

Hope,
I was down with flu the previous time and YES don't self medication, especially Panadol Flu tablets. I went to see GP at Raffles Medical and he told me that normal panadol u can take, but not those panadol with flu or what so ever. Take care.
