Hi ,
Just to share I m in my 2ww of medicated FET now...feeling excited as today is already d8p5dt and i did a hpt and saw a super faint line...am hoping to stay positive...as this is my 2nd ivf. During my 1st fresh ivf i remember tested positive on d11p2dt and currently i hoping to have a 2nd child. And my doc is Dr Matthew Lau and very thankful to him and I hope can be success under him again.

Does any sisters here BFP without any symptoms in 2ww? Hope to get some answers. I'm 8dp3dt and no symptoms at all, not even from the progesterone.

My menses are due in two days time and I started to have the menstrual cramp. Although I keep telling myself to stay positive but realistically I know that my menses are coming and I don't have much hope as this is my last cycle.

It takes s lot of courage to go thru ttc but I guess there is a limit to everything. even since I started the cycle, as each day go by, I became more obsessed with the tww and neglect my family. It is time to wake up and take charge of my life and be responsible to the two men in my life.

Treasure what we have is the most important. At least you tried and gave it a shot.

Actually during my 1st fresh and 2nd fet both time the 2ww dun have obvious symptoms...so dont worry and stay positive.

Congrats @bbshower! when is your BT?
I'm not feeling too good. having diarrhea n dehydrated. worried this will affect implantation as my earlier failed attempts also had diarrhea. I know it's absurb, but I can't help thinking my embies 'diarrhea-d' out. Well, I suppose this is the anxiety we get during the tww

Asking myself to stay positive cause been very stress and tired at work...

Hi ladies,

I just turned 37. Have been TTC for past couple of years. Went for fertility tests with HB and we are okay. The gynae then said maybe we just need to hit the right dates for conception, but somehow we just not successful despite trying to meet the right dates and all.

So now we are considering IVF. Actually my preference is to go with TMC but the costs are too high for private, so need some advice from you all:

1. Which doc / govt hosp would you recommend? I know KKH, NUH have but what about SGH? All very far from where we stay and I understand that a lot of travelling to and fro is needed. Having said that, distance is not an issue as long as we can find a good doc and successfully conceive...

2. For those who have gone through IVF:
- May I know if the retrieval of eggs procedure is painful? I've heard it is, but some ladies said they didn't feel a thing
- Did you have to take many days of leave for the entire procedure? Like half days, full days?

3. My HB is PR and I am Singaporean:
- So this means we need to stand by cold hard cash about $3K - $4K? The rest can be taken care of by medisave and subsidy?
- The 3K-4K must be paid upfront or can be installment?

Many thanks for your help and advice!

Hi catinthesky, welcome to the forum! I am turning 37 next month and also have unexplained subfertility. Here is my experience:

1) I am with NUH. I really like it there. Excellent doctors, well organized, wait generally not so long with appointment. I have heard of people going to SGH but don't personally know any. It seems the largest group goes to KKH.

2) retrieval of eggs was not painful. You r put under general anesthesia. I basically just said hi to the doctor and fell asleep immediately. When I awake I had some cramps but no strong pain. Some light bleeding that stopped within a day. I know in other countries it may be local anesthesia, which some women said was painful or sensitive.

You will need to take off at least the following if u r at NUH:
1) initial consultation with doctor
2) baseline scan (CD 2 or 3) for stims and medication (plan on 1.5 hr)
3) 2 or 3 more scans as stimming progresses (plan on 1 hr each)
4) egg retrieval
5) embryo transfer 2 to 5 days later

From day of egg retrieval you are given 2.5 weeks of hospitalization leave. Some of us are not taking all of it due to work.

I am not sure about finances so I will leave that question to someone more competent. Good luck w your decision!

Hey Koirc! Do you remember me? I think we were cycle buddies or around the same time in 2012. My gal was born in 2013 too. I'm starting FET best month when menses came. Anxious....
Hi there! I am starting my fresh cycle next month when menses come. We can be cycle buddy again! :)

I've been thinking of NUH rather than KKH as well. May I know if you are being assigned to the same doc all the time or it is a diff one each time you go?

The 1hr-1.5hr sounds not so bad, I can try to take time off :)

For initial consultation, did you have to go through fertility tests? I read on their website it is required, how much did it cost you? For us, we have taken fertility tests sometime end of 2013 so not sure if the results still valid. Will prob need to check with the hosp... :/

Hi catinthesky, I did my IVF in SGH and conceived my first child in 2013. Will be trying for 2nd child next month. :)

My gynae is in private practice and she recommended me to see Dr. Yu Su Ling at SGH who was her intern many years ago (My gynae is near retirement already). At that time I went to see Dr. Yu, she was the head of CARE which is the fertility centre in SGH. I think now there is another head but she remains the senior consultant and I still see her for this upcoming IVF.

It works well for me cos I work in Tg Pagar area so it is very convenient whenever I need to go for scan or blood test. However, the wait is now quite long. I used to be able to get everything done within an hour but my recent visit took me half a day!

To your question 2, ER is under GA. I only felt a bit sore like menstrual cramps when I resume consciousness. If you ask me, the pain index is 4/10. There was not medical leave given after ER although you may request for it. On ET, they will give you 14 days hospitalization leave.

Not sure about the payment scheme though.

Hope this helps.

One thing to take into consideration will be Kkh (other than the blood test and consultation with your IVF dr require to pay), rest in Kkivf such as scan, medication etc no need to pay first.

They will send a final bill to highlight how much by medisave, how much by govt co-fund and how much you need to pay in cash...

Believe sgh and NUH you need to pay upfront first.

FYI..

Thanks! I wasn't sure if IVF still exists in SGH as I couldn't find more info on it. Your info is very useful!

Hmm, I think NUH works for me then, since I work in the west area!

Congrats on your successful pregnancy in 2013, hope to hear good news from you soon on your second bb! :)

Oh dear, if pay upfront first it's gonna be really tough. Do you mean that we need to pay all the fees first then claim it back?

I will double check with the hosp... :(

For NUH, if ur a private patient, you can request for the same doc and all scans through to ER and ET will be done by the same doc

Ivf scans are usually done first thing in the morning at 8 so all the ivf ladies will wait for our turn. Then go for blood test and collect med from the centre for human reproduction (CHR).. The earliest i was done was 0820.. But to be safe add some buffer

The cost for the entire treatment was shown to us just before ET. Same as KK, a breakdown of medisave and co-funding. So no need for any cash up front. For me both parties are Singaporeans, not sure if arrangement will be different for you.

Yes, I believe you need to go through fertility tests. I don't remember how much it cost now since it was a while ago...Maybe others can chime in. Some tests you have to repeat every 6 mo to 1 year, like AMH.

And remember to bring along all the tests that you and hubby have done so far

If you want to have a fixed doc, then just call the women's clinic directly, declare you're a private patient and ask for an appointment.

Can go to the website and see who you'll like to consult?
