IVF/ICSI Support Group

Hi biggly,

A pregnancy is a pregnancy, regardless of how you conceived.. My prudential adviser explained the plan to me when she knewi going for ivf, and gave good wishes that i'll succeed.. So i don't think there's an issue..

Sisters, I've recently confirmed with my AIA agent. There are no policy around that covers both e mummy & baby, so long they are conceived through ivf. Cos they are of higher risk. But there are plans available to cover both mummy & babies whom are conceived naturally. Hence we better buy e GE insurance when we gog for ivf.

We can't lie to them de, insurance companies will hv their ways to find out if our precious are conceived naturally or not

Laki: same here, I did that during my IUI - come up all sorts of excuses to tell my boss, but I try to minimize mc as he can tell or guess something, in case he thought I have some sort of female illness on seeing the mc, haha. Lucky you that your boss understands. For my case, is a he and also, I think he is not one who can keep secret. I don't want my whole office to know.

Girl: Jia you!! ;) You are so dedicated to your work yet your boss is not even supportive of you going for your visits, very inconsiderate.

Serene: lucky you. I won't cry in front of him la but I will not tell the truth, the gossipy news in my office travel way too fast, sometimes news of someone in my company travel from other company back to my company, not the other way round, imagine!! If he spread, one person enough to make almost whole industry (in exaggerated way).

Lin: I agree that he must have his reason for recommending IVF. He did ask me to try for 2 months after my ops, failing which to consider IUI. I guess he is also testing my body response to all methods along the way. Well, I have noted down to ask him why in my next visit. Maybe my problem is worse off than what he initially thought to be.

Sunstillshines: you remind me of Dr Loh, the statement he made on success rate on TFC website, like spokesperson, haha. But that's very true, coming from statistical angle.
Slightly different is, he said some hospital success rate high could mean most patients going to them could be younger with milder problems so success rate alone not good indicator, something to that meaning.

Oh by the way, ladies who have gone through IVF, are you girls doing long protocol or short? Which one is better? Sorry to ask so much as I could find this on the net.

i1BB: my wish list is also for grant to be extended to pte clinic. dr Loh did tell me why (not sure if it's his speculation only). It's about charges of pte clinic (something like what serene said).

Serene: you are right. Many people has the misconception that IVF is guaranteed (including myself before I did the researches online and in this forum). My sis told me to try IVF for that reason, just because all her friend who tried has given birth.

Hi lainelaine,

How soon after your lap did you do your iui? I have to go for lap too.. Arranging for next wk.. How long did you take to recover and walk around without pain? Kinda nervous..

Lin: I not too sure u can try.

Laine: depend on your body. Like for me I got cold womb. Thus all the tcm dr I went advise don't take herbal tea. If I want 菊花 still okie. Only occasionally. Hahaha

Min, i did iui before lap, u r under prof wong right? He do lap too? I recovered fully in 2 wks time...can walk without pain around D5 but inside will still feel abit weird. Dun worry! Not as scary as i thought

Bbt24, mine is short protocol. Actually ther is no gd or bad for long or short protocol, all is depend on ur body. D doc will prescribe u d protocol which is best suit for ur body. No1 knw better than ur doc.

Babysmurf, sorry miss out ur reply. Ok I will remain wat I'm hving nw but any other extra food I need to take? Dh don't allow me go for acupunture coz he say I already hve a lot of jab fm ivf coz he don't wish me to hve more needle holes so guess I might hve to gve it a miss

Laki: dr said I can decide whether to take long or short. I decided to go for long only because it's more test. This is despite that dr is confident with short protocol too.

Hi Ladies, I have also voiced up to the government. Calling all sisters here to help voice up. Though we may be the minority but we should not be forgotten!

Prosepina, thank for the link!

Is it recommended to rest at home during the 2ww?
I thought of doing so as my co is just too stressful and fast pace already...

BBT24, it is better to let the Dr suggest which protocol is more suitable for u. Long protocol is not better than short and vice verse, it depend on individual condition eg. Age, AMH level, etc. That's only my suggestion

Lainelaine,

Thanks

Yup under prof wong, but another doc will be doing the lap.. Wasn't sure if could ttc after lap but prof said no prob.. So will try out 1 iui.. If really cannot work then will go ivf.. Glad to hear your reassurance

Celestine .. All the best to u tmrow !!! BFP BFP BFP. ..

Laki gal: u rest first. At first I also a little scared of accupture. 1st two cycle I didn't n I always got lining problem. I having irregular mens. This cycle I go 1 month b4 I starting cycle n I got triple lining. That y I encourage u to try.

Bbt24: whether long or short protocol is like trial n error. My previous 2 cycles on long protocol but different medication. Result the same n got lining problem. This time round I on short protocol everything happen very fast n my lining is got. I also feel more relax. Fast fast inject n done. Now I waiting for my et.

Bigbear & Babysmurf: thanks for advising. Seems like most ladies here are on short protocol. My dr sounds neutral between the 2, just that I have a feeling he suggested short because he is trying to promote that. I was told same costs for both, just that long more injections. But wonder if visit also a lot more?

Morning ladies.

BBT24, i guess long protocol will need to go bk more for d scanning so definetly visit to d doc will b more.

Im feeling strange now, my AF is rite here. I juz hve my ER last sat n how cm my AF is here so fast? Any1 able to tell me d reason. But dis time when AF is here, im actually happy haha coz it can clear away my d medication in my body n i can get ready faster for my FET.

Laki gal: u call the clinic to ask. I think is becos u are not on any pregnancy support. Previously they jab us with lot of hormones. So is time to shed out some. Gd sign. Jia you Jia you. Can For Ur dr review. Doing the FET in oct?

Babysmurf, i rem on d date of my ER, d nurse did told me d upcoming cycle wnt b regular 1 so i wonder itiz tat y af is so early. But later i will gve a call n ask them. I b seeing my doc on 21 sep n will ask her whether can i proceed d FET or i still hve to wait.

BBT, for long protocol, u'll need more injections n therefore more medicine. Most likely u'll have to spend more for the drugs. The advantage of long protocol is that with the suppression stage, u can better control the growth of the follicles and maximise chances of even growth so that you can harvest them all together (as opposed to having a few big ones and the remaining ones are too small). But also really depends on ur body. If Dr Loh says u can choose either, then go with what u're comfortable with. If you dun have an issue of low reserve tho, most docs wld recommend 1st timers try long protocol first.

BBT24 > I'm a first timer, and dr has recommended that I go for the long protocol. I did asked why, and was told that they'll have better control... as what Luvnhope had stated. From what I had read, short protocol is at times recommended for low ovarian reserve to race against time.

babysmurf,
read that you had your ER already and tomorrow's your ET. congrats and jia you!!!
happy.gif

BBT24,
try not to 2nd guess your doc... clear your doubts with him.... ask him what's the reason why he chose short for you. every cycle is precious and you have to be clear why u embark on short or long so that you can understand your body condition better and can supplement with food or vitamins.

No true that Short protocol is for those with low ovarian reserve. I have good ovarian reserve but Dr Loh puts me on short protocol as he is worried that i will be over stimulated if i go thru long protocol. Even thou i went thru short protocol, i had mild OHSS, i cannot imagine if i had went thru long protocol.

Bbt, it seems like you r v sceptical about what dr loh tells you. Why not ask him to explain why? There is no reason to promote either protocol. He has his reason for his recommendation and he always has his patient's best interest at heart.
