Skies - When u suppose to test blood test?

Will go buy the nuts soon.

Hmm ... Some sister say Dr Loh's has magic hands hence high BFP stats.... But in singapoh's case it shouldbe Dr Loh's magical aura... Cos he didn't play a part in the actual ET.

Juz an observation ...

Hello ladies

I am occasionally a silent reader on this post but just thought of adding my 2 cents worth regarding Dr Loh.

He is a good Doctor. And there are alot of successful cases under him. But just like Fond said in a post above, there have been cases which have been unsuccessful under him. I have done 3 fresh cycles, and all have failed. He did his best for me but my case was just one of those highly challenging ones. So, Dr Loh's magic hands were not enough see through a BFP for me.

Dr Loh might have high success rates, but that does not provide a full picture. You need to see what problems you have. Each case is unique and some might be more challenging to overcome than others. For instances like diminished ovarian reserve, or problems with implantation or scarring in the uterine environment, there is little that can be accomplished with standard long or short protocols. That was the situation with me - KK's standard procedures was not sufficient for someone like me sufffering from severe endometriosis and diminished ovarian reserve. But that is a limitation of the hospitals in Singapore that can't be helped.

Actually, I live in US and came down to Singapore to do the IVF due to cost considerarions, and in US, they publish detailed statistics on the success rates of IVF in the clinics across different states. Some clinics might have lower success rates, but we should not write them off in favor of the high success rates cos' some of these clinics with lower success rates take on very very difficult cases, and naturally, there are more BFNs over there.

So don't be mislead with overall statistics. You need to look at the breakdown of the statistics. If you have a certain problem such as PCOS or say male infertility problem, etc talk to the doctor of your choice and ask how much of success he has with that problem per se. That would be more indicative of success.

Ladies,

Am having this funny symtom eversince on Lucrin.
Am regular on my menses but now am like delayed and keep getting cramps...

is this normal.?

Singapoh,

You really lucky..
Do spread baby dust to us okay...
I'm going for my D10 scan this Thursday..
So nervous about it..
So far i went for 2 session of accupuncture already..
Dr Zhou said that i must attend for daily accupunture 5 days before ET..
I'm just not sure whether its going to work..

Hi ladies,

Anybody ever been for accupuncture before ET?
Pls help, i'm so confused..
Thanks..

Gan,

When is you 1st scan?

If nec I won't opt for accupuncture ... cos the stress of travelling all the way there ... added onto what food we should eat, monitor this n that ...

It all becomes quite a tedious cycle ... I will try out brazil nut, durian during 2ww & TCM herbs prior (that's the max I will go)

Oh I read in earlier earlier post that some of the successful stories involved eating 1-2 pc of durian during the 2ww. Suppose to be 'bu' for body.

No harm trying, also helps that I love durian .. ho ho ho ...

U can ask Singapoh ...

Hi All, i m new to the thread.. will be going to KKH for signing of the consent form this thur...

Have done 4 times of IUI and failed... so hope IVF will be the remedy for me...

Good luck everyone!

Hi, Jeinthi Angel (jeinthiangel)

Lucrin is to suppressed your hormons so u may not come menses.

Welcome AP.

Anybody know if we can eat bananas?

thanks miss fairy...

I was like worried y auntie not here yet...

Phew.... sigh of relief nw.... Wednesday I am suppose to go back for the 1st scan...

well I guess it is not to say whether the doc is good or not. What I think that is most important is medical ethics. If the doc cannot be bothered to explain to you why the failed cycle, it is not point taking up the case with him even you have the money. This is how I felt. First try still encouraging, second try, the doc cannot be bothered much, thrid try he totally could not be bothered and I find there is no more what you call medical ethics. We are not robert or guinea pigs. We are humans who need to know what went wrong. This is my 2 cents worth, no offence.

True humbug.

Singapoh, im not sure the dos and dont anymore and im just wondering what can take and what cannot take. so is banana ok?

Just take nutritious food... if u wanna eat tonic or 'bu' stuff.. make sure u do it gradually... u dun wan to fall sick during ivf procedures...

anyway this was the list that was circulated mid of last yr.... serves as a guide.... i didn't follow everything strictly tho... this is to help not to add more stress... so adjust it according to ur own preference and body conditions...

Dos and Donts
Stage 1 (Lucrin/Suprefact)

- Cut off cold drinks
- water intake 2L/day
- drink DOM to build up the body
- chicken essence X 1 3x/week
- egg white x 1 daily
- Gentle rotation in circle motion clockwise after you have jab your abdomen.
- If painful - try to sooth the area you are injecting with hot towel, the skin will become less tense

Stage 2 (Puregon / Gonal-F)

- Ensure milk or Anmum milk
- chicken essence x 1 alternate day
- Soya products (high proetin food)
- egg whites x 2
- water intake 2L/day
- Brazil nuts

Stage 3 (2WW)
- increase egg whites intake
- Ensure milk or Anmum milk
- 2-3 pieces of Brazil nuts daily, some take 5 pcs per day.
- can also take sunflower seed, pumkin seed, and flax seed
- water intake 2L/day
- No pineapple and water melon
- No squatting or carrying of heavy weights (anything that stresses the abdominal muscle)
- No hot sauna or soaking of lower half body in bathtub
- No intercourse
- Do not stand or sit in a position (infront PC)too long. Good to walk a bit to promote circulation
- No raw food and avoid oily and spicy foods as it may cause an upset stomach. High hormone levels cause bloatedness and hence add to discomfort
- No strenuous exercise
- No other medication (eg. TCM) other than those given by your Dr

Hi ladies,

I did my pregnancy test this morning and it's positive. So spreading bbdust in here.. But I did not do any blood test today. Will be going for 1st scan in March.

I guess during 2WW, have to relax as much as possible and drink more water.

Woo hoo! Congrats skies! U won't be confirming with a blood test?

Can ask u gers when to drink this drink - red dates, longan & wolfberry water. Is it to ease bloatedness?

Thanks Eskimo for a recap of the dos n donts... Was waiting for it to pop up again!

brownie, i am waiting for my af to report and then inform kkivf abt the fet. af shld be coming this week or next. Will be on medicated fet. For me i will go for accu nearer to et, since i stay bishan, so going to dr zou not so bad. But most impt ask if u will feel stess to travel up and down for frequent accu, if yes, then don't stress urself.

Jeneith angel, if i am not wrong, we shld have 1 more af during lucrin stage. that's why pple with irregular menses cycle are given microgynon so that can regulate the af. Maybe can check with nurse when u go for 1st scan.

Congratulations skies!!

singapoh, jj, Gan,

Thank you for your well wishes..

They told me dont need to do blood test and I asked twice. But still they say dont need wor coz say mine came out almost instantly.. Isit ok if I dont do?

even though today never inject puregon but my tummy feels extremely bloated and gassy. Got feeling that something is pressing on my bladder which makes me want to pee all day.. maybe going to get hcg shot tonight. Starting to get a little stress about this so-iui.. i really wonder how do you gals actually survive IVF man..

Singapoh yap im eating moderately but worried if eat wrongly. :)

Minakochang, its the support and spirit to keep us going on. Different people different reaction to the injections. And trust me the stress is there. Its up to us to relax

Missfairylady,
I'm 40 wks pregnant today... Going to be induced on wed...
happy.gif

Sun,
the inserts won't affect the results... As long as it's a double line no matter how light it's a BFP... Congrats! I did a hpt on 12dpt n got a faint line too but I couldn't believe it cos never seen it b4.

Skies,
it's better to do a BT to see the hcg level so that adequate support can be given if necessary. In kkh, once we do the BT we'll be given duphaston to support the pregnancy.

Hi All,

I'm with PC Wong and I have the D3 transfer and now I'm 6 week pregnant. Just did my scan on last Friday and will be seeing Prof Wong tomorrow for review.

I do agree with Lyn that this is base on individual, just stay positive and follow the instruction from the doctor and nurses.

For me I choose Prof Wong cos I prefer NUH more than KK and after I started my IVF with NUH, I feel so comfortable with the environment and the nurse there.

Just go with your feeling and I do believe that all doctors are good, professional and experience.

yeah.. i back from kkh, the hcg shot was super painful compare to puregon.. the nurse told to take deep breathe and be prepare cos it gonna be painful.. wow it really hurts! now waiting for iui on wed.. cant wait!!!
