sorry to ask you this, i have frozen sperm by my hsb in the sperm bank in kkh, the reason is my hsb may not be around when the time of ER comes, you see

dr loh said that with frozen sperm is also okay to fertilise eggs and with frozen sperm to fertilise eggs, its also called Fresh cycle

in your opinion, do you think that its okay, or i shld get my hsb to come and "contribute new sperm"

To be frank, some people who are ttc-ing will not tell you that they are, because they dun like the pressure of people asking them for updates, so when you said the ladies in your office dun seem to be trying, you may be wrong. They could be trying very hard, except they don't tell you.

I am one example, even if other people ask me about my plans, i simply laugh it off as i don't see the need to tell the office i am ttc-ing or going though ART.

Don't bother about the ladies around you, getting frustrated in this way is really fruitless. It's adding stress and not good while you are undergoing IVF.

i dun get angry when people keep their ttc attempts to themselves but that idiot colleague of mine is really too much, saying all kinds of crap that one is enough and all that shit..she din want to tell me she was going for a medical appt when she suspected she was pregnant (we were supposed to go for a course on that day) and nearly wanted me to change the course together with her, she is really a piece of shit

she was really too much, imagine when her doctor mixed up some lab result and she thot that she was going to miscarry , she imagined that she was going to die soon and wanted to abort

she can tell me "i am not like you, you know, nobody noes you pregnant and you miscarriage, for me the stomach so big, dun know how to handle it"

goodness me, man, wat crap, the doctor had not even told her that she was going to miscarry and later her fears were unfounded

but for me the damage was done already, people may noe you are pregnant and if you miscarry , very sad but for people whose pregnancy din show, does it mean they are less sad, wat crap,man

Think u really too stress abt having a baby. that's not good. Try to relax and focus on other matters etc. It's helps in conceiving. And why are u thinking so much about doing a fresh cycle. U should hope for the best in your FET!

Anyway, I think frozen sperm is ok too cos if I didn't remember wrongly, westbb also use frozen sperm for her IVF and she also suceed on 1st try. However, if your hubby is free, no harm going down and provide a fresh sample on the very day.

As for the pen, if I recall correcly, u have to tune it towards u, and if u overshot the mark, then just tune to the end and it will set to the starting position again. It's not that difficult.

Yah, agree Dr Loh is a very nice doc. He did my ICSI in Nov last year. 1st try and i conceived. Now still seeing him for my pregnancy. I will be due around National Day.

i really hope i can focus on other things, i have been so obsessed with baby and nothing but baby that i think i have gone bonkers

i have avoided my frens who have their second kids, avoided talking to pple and just surf ivf sites everyday in the office ( i am sort of self employed)

at one point, i even blamed my hsb for being overseas when i needed him, he is based overseas

there was a time that i blamed and blamed him for getting a job overseas when i am here and now that it has been diagnosed as my problem, never had he opened his mouth to blame me nor scold me

call me mad, i was so mad with my hsb not noeing it was my fault that i kept blaming him that i cannot be a mother of second child by 31/32/33 etc

i think i was going mad and now i am trying to calm myself

Hi Chemistry,

I just started my puregon jab last Thurs. But somehow, my hubby seem to have difficulty using the pen. After dialing to the right dosage, did you just press the tip to inject or you'd to twist the pen? My hubby had to do the latter coz' pressing it was very difficult. At the end of the jab, the bottle was empty, so we assumed that it's the right way. But it's kinda silly to have to twist it down all the way instead of the normal way of injecting (i.e. simply pressing).

It hurts coz with one hand holding the pen & the other to twist & inject, he wasn't able to squeeze my tummy like the way he does with the Lucrin jab.

I'll be going for my scan this Thurs. Hopefully all is well & that I can take the HCG night jab. If scan is ok, do we jab that night itself? Or a few days later? And the surgery starts 2 days after that night jab, right?

Hi vonvon,

The pen is blue and yellow in colour right? After adjusting to the dosage, just push hard on the tip will do. As u push the tip, it will rotate down. U will also hear clicking sound as the tip rotates down. If ur hubby con't to inject in that manner, then maybe u help to pinch your tummy while he do the injection.

My hubby tried to push the tip but he said it's pretty difficult to do so. Thus, he did it another way, i.e to twist & rotate down instead of pressing hard at the tip.

I wish I can do it myself. I'm a useless fellow when it comes to dealing with injections and pains. Whenever I go for blood tests, I can't control myself & will end up crying. That's why I consider myself (& those in the same position as me) very 'brave' to have chosen to embark on this journey.

I'll ask my hubby to try pushing the tip harder. Maybe he dare not do so as he's afraid that he'll hurt me (knowing I'm terrified of pain).

I cry a lot too! But that really lets go of my frustrations and I felt a lot better after that.

Your hb cares a lot for you ... they will feel the pinch while they are injecting for you, though my hb had no guts to do it for me, but he felt heartpain whenever he helps me to get prepared.

My hb also tried injecting puregon for me once and I gave up. It is more painful than I did it myself. Besides, he also got stress up too. Like what Annie has mentioned, we can control it better ourselves. Just be patient and all the pain will be over soon

By the way, just saw my RE today to review my failed FET. There is nothing much she can do after the FET. It really depends on our own body and luck. By the way, she also mentioned we should avoid soyabean because it contains plant estrogen (hope I get it right) which may cause infertility. As I told her, I will only try my next natural thaw FET few months later, so she prescribed vit C and E for me. As for my hb, she recommended vit A, C and E. This was the first time that we had such a long conversation with her

I did all the injections myself. I think it better to do it yourself cos u'll be in control & mentally prepared. To me, the jabs are not that painful leh. U have to be fast when inserting & removing the needle so that the pain is lesser.

I see, so u r still wif us. Don work too late. Take care of yrself n bb. Yesterday, I had appointment with my RE. I asked her will it help if I have taken estrogen pills during my last FET (cos I learnt from yr experience, sounds so knowledgeable. Hahaha..) She told me estrogen will only be prescribed to patient whose lining is very thin because there is side effect from this drug. I find that this thread increases my knowledge and are able to communicate more with my RE now.

Hi, to everyone,

Today is the 5th birthday of my boy and i just went for my beta test yterday after my FET. My level is too low and i just emailed the doctor whom also agreed.

If tis level is too low, it means the pregnancy is not viable and it may just go off by itself, hopefully i dun need to go for a D n C as my womb lining is badly scarred due to my previous pregnancy and perhaps also due to the D n C last year (done when i had an IVF miscarriage)

I wld be 34 tis year and dun noe wat to do next except sit and wait,does anyone know whether after a failed FET, how long do we need to wait before we start a fresh cycle again.

I decide to have a break, besides, my work schedule will be quite tied from now till Sept. And most importantly, it is not very nice to keep taking MC and leave

. As for how long before a fresh IVF after a failed FET, I am not too sure. U may check with your RE. As for my case, my RE also advise me to rest for awhile (she did not mention how long cos I have told her before hand that I would most likely do it 4-5 mths later) before I start my next FET (my very last 3 embryos

). Meanwhile she prescribed me vit C and E to prepare myself for the next FET.

Harlo, potato chip, i din read your previous posts, but read that you may have a thin lining as well. My thin lining was due to wat happened when i gave birth to my son.

Mine was a condition that happened when i gave birth at kkh to my son, the placenta took a long time to detach and as a result, my womb lining was scarred, maybe you can check why your lining is thin, have you gone for a HSG to find out,why?

My condition is asherman's syndrome, the scars caused the womb lining to stick together and contributes to my having miscarriage. I had a miscarriage once in 98 and once in 2004. dun noe how long i can endure tis but this message board has given me alot of encouragement

and i hope that you, potato chip will take these few months to bu your body up to the ultimate condition, jia you..sister..

If you can, why not try fresh cycle as thawed cycles' success rate maybe lower than fresh cycle

I read abt yr prescription, tats why I asked my RE. But she said, I have adequate Estrogen in my body, so she can't prescribe to me to avoid the side effect. But I really wonder how she knows I have adequate estrogen, since they only did the blood test on de 15th day after FET

. I saw her referring to my initial blood test before IVF for the estrogen level. Wonder will it be the same before and after ET. Anyway, I also asked her will it help if there is a regular monitoring after ET like what yr RE did. She said, "if it is attached, it will be attached. No point monitoring." Btw, years ago, that JE sinseh said I had fabloid and refer me to Prof Chen (as usual) and he confirmed I had fabloid (but I did not went back to him after 1st consultation). So yesterday, I checked wif my RE will cyst or fabloid affect my success rate. She told me my scan report in Jan 05 showed no trace of cyst and fabloid. Wat a relief

btw, did you have complete bedrest after your fet? my job is very stressful, dun think i can take so much leave, tis thg has left me very tired alrady and just want to know if you had complete rest after et, was it your first time trying?

Wow... Prof chen varicocele op can total up to $7/8K for my hubby w/o even adding the follow up treatment...anyway we feel that it is still worth it. if it can help us this round.

But I dun really agree with your RE has said leh (Sorry I hope I din offend you)... "if attached, will attached" it may be true but the hormones of our system must be able to support it too. My progesterone is really dropping like crazy (to pre-pregnancy stage) each time I do the bloodtest (I thought my IVF failed liao) during my 2ww. But my RE din give up and kept asking me to put in the progesterone cream... After I got my +, my estrogen starts to drop... My RE explained to me that estrogen is like the soil for a seedling. If the soil not strong and fertile enuff, the seedling won't grow. So he prescribed the estrogen to booast it up. Though I kept spending $ on bloodtest, I feel that it's worth it after all.

Beta of 75 on Day16 after ET is slightly on the low side but still got chance leh. Can your RE do something to save it? Yes, my RE ordered a complete bedrest for 1 week after testing +. He said it is a very crucial period for me... Can your RE give you more MCs or can you take leave to rest since your job is stressful?

By the way, in your comm with potato chips, you mentioned abt blood test. Do we have to take blood test everyday after ET? What will I expect after ET? Will the nurse or RE update on my progress every now & then, like my chances of pregnancy??

I went to see Dr Yeong today and also Dr Shelia for review. Had a long chat with Dr Yeong...i think more than 30 mins...haha. very lor sor, so much to ask... He explained to me the process of FET, the natural and artificial methods. He actually ask me not to give up and should try FET in KKH as Dr Shelia and the embryologist are both very good. He told me embryologist also played a very important role in IVF and he knows that Dr Balaji is an expert in this area as they have work together for a long time. But, if I decided to trsf it to him for the FET done in TMC, he is more than delighted to do it for me and will handle the admin part for me.

As for my review with Dr Shelia, same as what she told you, whether successful or not really depends on our own body and the quality of the embroys. FET success rate is half of a fresh cycle. She also mentioned that all my embroys needs lazer hatching as the zona layer is on a thicker side and this would make it more difficult to hatch and implant. I guess this could be the main reason of my failure.

From what I know, KKH does not need to monitor you for bloodtest after your ET. Different hospital/RE will have different protocol. Chemistry will be the best person to advise you as mine was done at Gleneagles under Prof Chen.

As for your bloatness and lotsa vaginal discharge, it is normal, unless you suspect it could be an infection.

I dun really get any side effects from Puregon. I only see (not feel) slight bloatedness but that is after 7-8 days of the jab. As for the blood test, I was only asked to do the progesterone blood test about 1 week after ET.

My gynae say that ususally the embryologist will determine if there is a need to do laser hatching. For my case, the embryologist who did my ICSI is a lady and she did laser hatching for 1 of the 3 embryos that was transferred. Very ex, cost about $600 per embryo but it's worth the $ it turns out sucessful.

i just came back from kkh blood test, they said that they have to monitor and see the level, it could be an ectopic pregnancy which may need to be removed, i really hope that its not, if not i wld have to take MC again....as i am sort of self employed and in a stressful job, dun think i can take the stress anymore

KKIVF does not do regular check or blood test during the 2WW. They oni did once on around the 9th day to chk the hormone level so as to revise the dosage of progesterone, if required. A beta blood test on 17th day. You have to call up KKIVF in the afternoon for the test result. No chance to clarify with your RE at all unless u have his email address. Thats all they did

So any plan when you intend to do your FET? And which type of FET did Dr Yeong suggested for u? She mentioned that my embryos for the two attempts were of good quality but just cldn't succeed. Thats why I brought up issues like cyst, fabloid n endo. She said I m cleared fr cyst n fabloid. If I want to check on endo, then will have to do a scoping but she don't see the need. We told her the only thing we could do is to pray harder n visiting different temples (mosque, church, etc). Very naughty hor

By the way, my embryologist is Cheryl not Dr Balaji lei. So far, no laser hatching done for my two attempts. Don't know is she reliable cos she looks so young. Tomatoes mentioned before embryologist played an important role in IVF too, not only the RE.

For me, i am dealing with financial industry sales and have built up a business so its very hard for me to give it up. I think that by staying at home, i will lagi feel more stressed.

Also, IVF costs alot of money and i need to have more money of my own. Also, potato chip, dun worry about age, although i may be younger than you, i definitely got more health problems than you, take care and i hope your little "potato chip" or "french fry" wld come out soon.

Did you try chinese medicine before, my fren got alot of endo, cysts problem and she succeeded first time with ivf/icsi at kkh and she also tried chinese medicine..which i did also until i went for the fet...

Too bad, because of this thing, i have to stay back in singapore and dare not take holiday incase must come back and do check up
