IUI/SO-IUI: Anyone?

Yes, don't lose hope and keep trying. Just went for my first scan for my coming 2nd IUI and my doc made a passing remark, you're so patient..Don't know why he said that and I asked my hubby does he mean although we've not much hope in iui but we still so patient doing it for the 2nd time haha..Anyways, we just have to be positive and keep going. I've failed IVF few times before too. Planning to go back to IVF too if IUI don't work out for me for a few more times.

Truly, I need to learn from you how not to be so uptight every cycle. :) Jiayou too!

I used to get devastated after failed cycles initially, and still do get disappointed now but I learnt a lot and got support from sisters here & the IVF group :) And I believe this TTC journey is not within our control, I just leave it to God. Since its beyond our control, why get upset with ourselves or even our hubby. For me, just have faith in God and believe that His plan is the best for us, even if it means for me to be childless in the end. There are other things in life that I'm grateful for. :)

I'm still learning to trust in him and allow him to lead the way. Yes of course, while we all desire to be fruitful, he has a plan for all of us. :)

Technically, iui is with med to make your follicles grow in size and if possible, grow more follicles. I think if you do it your way to track with opk then the clinic won't do iui for you. Reason being, there is an optimum size of 18 to 21mm for the follicle to burst. You could have positive opk but it doesn't mean your follicle is ready to burst so hence, they would need to scan you. However, I think you can always ask the gynae if it can be done.
Thanks graceakclouds. Yup i did ask the gynae whether it can be done. She said if i am absolutely sure on my cycle and ovulation day every month, then yes it is ok although cases like this are rare.
As it might be hard for me to take leave from work in thecoming months, just wanted to check if anyone here has done likewise..but seems not. Anyhow, i dun think i am 100% confident too as my cycle is only starting to get back to normal after some haywired months.

Hi everyone, I am so glad to be able to find an active post about this topic. I have been with Dr. Charles Lim since jan 2015 after 1 year of TTC naturally. The treatment started off with me just taking Metformin and Clomid/Letrazol then adding Gonal F injections along with each cycles.

During the cycle of treatment earlier this year, I developed a small endometriosis near my right ovary and Dr. Lim initially said its OK to continue the treatment and that we will get a C section once I deliver, you know, hit two birds with one stone. ie. get baby out and remove cyst in one operation. So much for optimism! Fast forward to present day, we obviously still trying although there is a few months of break in between. We finally moved on to SO-IUI, this October will be our second attempt.

This time Dr. Lim was saying if I dont succeed (2nd attemp SO- IUI) I will have to get an operation to remove the endometriosis, which I fully dread!! I did some research online and found that women can still conceive with endometriosis (choc cyst) by IUI/IVF and removing the endometriosis doesnt guarantee pregnancy. Meanwhile there is few months of down time post-op to recover completely before trying again. I am in dilema. Anyone here have anything to share about this? We are considering a second opinion but I just want to know from your experiences.

I have endometriosis and a choc cyst IN my ovary. My gynae said that was the reason I was not able to conceive and removing it was the only option. The cyst also kept growing larger. I conceived only a year after the surgery.

Is your cyst growing? Depending on the composition, it may disappear after a while.

I see. From what I understand, as we get older, our af will tend to be shorter in days de and hence, the quantity of eggs will reduce. That day I went to see my gynae, she said if you do scan on cd2 and your eggs are 12 to 20, it is normal range. If less than that, then it's quite little. If more than that, then congrats to you!!

She's 36..I may be wrong too. Maybe my friend is one of the adhoc cases..but her lining is on the thin side

I have a friend who has 2-3days AF and very little flow..her egg quantity is normal, not on the low side.
my AF is arnd 2 to 3 days (heavy flow). egg quantity is normal. lining is also normal, but towards thin side. during my IUI, my quantity is always 3 eggs.
but i think is the stress level because TCM always prescribe me as stressful person

So hers considered normal for her age, she retrieved 15eggs from her last IVF but her AF is all along very short and light flow. Envy! haha..mine the most 7 eggs even after jabs..

Hi Pixie, may I know whats your IUI protocol for your BFP cycle? I also has normal lining, 2-3 mature eggs after jabs but just can't implant..

@pixie ng can check with you, for your IUI, did you take med like clomid or jabs as you mentioned your eggs are always 3?

errm.. i think implantation is luck one... coz IUI only 20% will successful... mine is 3rd try then got BFP but i got twins though....

plus also your hub's sperm quanlity.. i ask mine to took vitamins to strengthen his sperms.. not sure really works or not..

That is very good. It means that clomid works for you. It didn't work for me. But I think for the hosp I go to, they don't practice jabs for IUI so I was just given med instead and trigger jab only.

before SO-IUI, my gynae prescribe me clomid and natural BD.. my egg quantity is btw 2 to 3 eggs...
so to me, jab not much difference

Hi Ladies,

What is the duration of SO-IUI process? How long does the process take from the first day of menses?
What is the next step? Anybody knows. Thanks in advance! :)

Today i had my day10 US and the lining was at 6.3 I think. The doctor said its still not enough. Thanks to the ladies here, i have got raspberry leaf tea and will try that till my next ultrasound. Hopefully the lining should be better.

When are u going for your next scan? I'm going for my day 10 scan tomorrow and doc said IUI should be Fri or Sat.

I got married at the age of 20. TTC for almost 2 years, got pregnant naturally but unfortunately had a miscarriage at 20weeks.
Been trying since the miscarriage to date but not able to. And i'm only 25 this year. Young but already have complications. Sob sob..
Consulted at Clinic D KKH for 2 years finally going for SO-IUI somewhere in early January 2016. Did a lot of test for me and hubby.
Hubby got no problem whatsoever. But my hormones are imbalance. My AF won't come for months (longest 4 months) and I have to take some pills (i forgot the name of the pill) to trigger my menses to come. Did a HSG test but all ok. I don't know whats wrong with me. Maybe I gain a lot of weight. hehe.. from 65kg now become 80kg. Anyone tried eating Evening Primerose Oil or Royal Jelly?

Oh dear.. i wish i have a lot of time to actually go read page by page.. but it's ok I will try to.. :)
Rough guide for SO-IUI (mine is not done at KKH)
Day 2-5 Letrozole
Day 7 Scan
Day 7-9 Jabs (Gonal F or Menopur)
Day 10 Scan & determine day for trigger jab & IUI, usually 2-3 days after. Doc may add jabs if follicles are still not big enough

wa.. 65kg to 80kg is alot of weight. i think you better start managing your weight...
imagine you pregnant, you have to gain another 10 to 20kg....

plus your heart and body will also take a toll on the weight gain

that's what the doctor told me too. it's just that, food makes me happy!!
After the miscarriage I eat A LOT! I don't know why but my appetite changed BIG TIME! haha! but I'm trying my best to lose weight before I start on my SO-IUI. I have 2 months plus to keep fit.

Hi ppl,

Today is the 1st day of the monthly cycle again. I consulted Dr Chan from Gleneagles previously and he prescribed clomids for me so I have to start taking from tml onwards. Our tests are perfectly well, except my Hubby's quantity is a bit low (quality is good) so Dr Chan give him Vitamin C

I am taking clomids this time without the IUI procedure, and see whether it can help us in a way but IUI is still the option for us if still cannot make it in the natural way.

I am aware that only government hospitals have subsidized for IUI and Gleneagles is a private hospital and I heard that Dr Chan does not refer ppl to government hospitals

And I read from other forums is that if want to go for the subsidize way, have to get a referral letter at polyclinic. If go straight to the hospital, they will still charge us based on private rates even is govt hospital. Is this true? And normally how long is the waiting time for his?

Hi @Kelle_lee ! yes if you want a subsidized rate you have to go to Polyclinic to get a referral letter. They will ask which hospital you prefer.
I did. If I'm not wrong, after they referred me to hospital, KKH called me 2 days after my visit to Poly to arrange for appointment.
If you go directly to hospital they will charge you private rates and it's quite expensive.

i also love food, but lucky i dislike carbo, desserts and alot of type of snacks. so my weight dun really fluctuate much.

maybe just dont eat too much carbo, red meat, desserts and snacks. eat more white meat and greens. no need to diet because you are TTC.. if you are not as lazy as me, exercise is still the best way...

my hubby bought a 2nd hand treadmill for me a few months ago.. but I only use it twice a week. sometimes once a week. Too tired to jog after a gruelling day at work! ;P
how long have you been TTC @pixie ng

Hi hopefulmoms, thanks for answering my doubts...

Any polyclinic will do?

Do you ever ask how much is their government hospital private rates? Is it expensive, as compared to private hospital rates?

Do you have to wait very long for your IUI and how much U pay after subsidized? I am thinking whether KKH or SGH is better..

Sorry for my questions....
